“Happy with the services”
Reviewed 14 May 2014 via mobile

This tour is run by English-Thai couple, Cait and Ned. The customer service email is responsive and booking process is simple (with Paypal).

The full day tour costs 1500 THB per person, food and beverages included (free flow cold water and soda, full course lunches and fruits as snacks). Ned led the tour himself (Cait at the time of our visit was in England).

We were picked up at 8am sharp by a 4WD truck. A ride on the back was part of the adventures experience.

The snorkeling gears provided to us are of decent quality. Unlike some snorkeling tours that lend crappy masks, snorkels, fins and floatation jackets.

Unfortunately the coral reefs of the snorkeling sites visited were not too colorful. But the tropical fishes there were beautiful. The tour also took us to Merakot Cave, which you have to swim inside a dark cave to get into a beautiful lagoon. Ned led us to through the cave and carried our stuffs (e.g. cameras etc) in his dry bag. It supposed to feel like Alex Garland's the Beach, but it was swarming with tourists at the time of our visit (around noon and it was a public holiday).

The best thing about our experience was the food. The lunch was cooked onboard. Despite the rudimentary kitchen, the cook prepared tasty simple dishes of green curry, chickens and omellette accompanied with Thai rice.

The boat has an upper deck where you can lie beneath the tropical sun while waiting the cruise to reach its next snorkeling spot. If you don't fancy getting a suntan, you can always take a nap in the lower deck.

Ned is a friendly guy. He also shows an environmentally conscious side: he told us not feed the fishes as it will make them unwilling to eat from coral reefs.

All in all we are happy with the services provided.

“The BEST Tour company”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

I had one of the best days ever in Thailand on this tour. Any correspondence beforehand, in terms of booking and information, was quick and friendly from Cait. We were picked up a few minutes early (being on time was a novelty!) by a happy guy and boarded the boat with 10 other people, a perfect sized group. Ned, Cait's partner, took us on the tour and we must have visited at least 4 or 5 islands. He told us about not touching the coral or feeding the fish, which was good because a lot of the other tour boats' people were touching the coral! We went snorkelling in really cool, plentiful areas and he warned us about strong currents and things. We visited the Emerald Cave and stopped on Bubu island for a delicious, freshly cooked lunch. It was a slow boat but I preferred this. We paid 1500 THB each and had the whole day out on the boat! There was shade on the boat for everyone, a toilet, and loads of water and drinks, plus good snorkelling equipment and flippers to borrow. I definitely recommend this company!

“Great fun day out, a tour with care.”
Reviewed 26 April 2014

Freedom adventures were fantastic from the very first email contact. Professional, helpful and very well organised, we booked in via email, were picked up from our resort and delivered to the old town where the very spacious boat awaits. Ned met us there with his friendly greeting and we were introduced to others on the tour. The boat only takes out 12 people, this is fantastic as you have ample room to move around, relax, eat and get ready for the snorkelling. The boat is a bit slower than the speedboats around but it is also more comfortable and relaxing. Ned explained each place we visited and although the 4 island tour is the most popular tour in the Ko Lanta area, Ned took great care in avoiding the crowds for us. We saw many boats that all went to the same places at the same time and filled their boats to the brim with people, it looked very uncomfortable! We actually had the first snorkelling spot to ourselves, whilst the coral is mostly dead and lacking in colour, the fish were abundant in numbers and variety so the scenery was beautiful. The emerald cave is worth doing the trip alone for and again Ned took us there at a time when there was only one other group visiting, it was stunning! The lunch was great, loads of fruit and drinks supplied and they drove us home. Great day out we would highly recommend and return for another trip with freedom.

“Would choose freedom adventures again and again”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

We had a fantastic time! It was a large enough boat, and only 11 in our group. The other boats on the water were filled with hoards of loud tourists, while our little happy group quietly sailed around... The food was awesome on the boat- they made it fresh while we were snorkeling! Emerald cave was ok, too many other tourists- but, again, we were a small group so we could be free, while other boats had their passenger on a cable, all kicking each other underwater. It looked dreadful. Snorkeling was fantastic! We saw eels, puffers, and many bright, colorful fish that ate fruit out of our hands. My husband saw a shark, too! Glad we chose freedom adventures, it was well worth the money!
