I'd recommend doing this to any wannabe/delusional chef in the making. The head chef "Toey" is as gay as Christmas and obviously loves what he does. He also loves striking the same pose in each and every photo, a pose he has obviously worked on for some time. To the food we did spring rolls, pad Thai, and Tom yam soup. All turned out delicious despite the wives insistence of chilli being the dominating theme. Would do again on another day to learn another dish however if you have affection for your knuckle hair keep the utensils away from the direct heat of the wok.

We went to this today it was great crack and a was a nice break from the hot day.
Some basic but delicious thai dishes to cook and then eat while learning a bit about the ingredients along the way. The chef toi is a great laugh too.
The toilets and the restaurant could do with a bit of upkeep and I think they should provide you with free water while your there. Other than that I loved it, would go back.

After eating at this fabulous beach side restaurant and tasting incredible authentic Thai cuisine, we decided to take the cooking course offered here.

It was fantastic, Toey the teacher is just brilliant. Full of knowledge and passion about his wonderful culture and cuisine. We took the 5 hour evening course, Toey took us to the local market and introduced us to so many Thai ingredients, many of which I heard of but never actually seen, we got to taste things and meet the local vendors. Then back to the school for a welcome break and to watch the sun setting over the sea. We made curry paste from scratch, spicy soup, spring rolls,Thai green curry and a delicious barracuda dish. All of which was explained and executed in a professional but fun way by Toey. We then got to eat each course on the beach. Just wonderful.
Toey has built his restaurant and school from scratch, he had learnt English only from his customers and students and is a hard working dedicated individual as are his team who work for him. If he was here in London he would be a celebrity chef for sure, as his personality is just brilliant as are his cooking and fun way of teaching.

Ignore the negative comments, this is NOT a money spinner, you learn so much in an amazing setting, in a very fun way. If you want to learn knife skills, enrol on a chefs course at your local college.

Put this as A MUST DO on your list of things in Koh Lanta I highly recommend it.

We did the lunch time course and had no waiting around. Just cooking and eating. We were a little disappointed we didn't make curry paste from scratch but that is the evening course.

It was a good little day out and activity but if you are looking to get some actual skills like knife skills etc. you won't find it here.

I also think a little pricey but you do get lots of food, however 1500B is pricey. Use the 10% voucher off we found on the back of our map

We took an evening class and overall we had a nice afternoon with some people we meet and the very entertaining teacher.

But having tried other cooking classes and travelled for 12 years in Thailand. The content was quite shallow and the level to low. And you could feel the teacher have said the same things 100 of times - with quite limited English skills. He could not answer on specific questions about the food or vary from his normal script.
Further more it is very expensive 1800B pr pers. compared to what you get - there is no recipe book, water or Anything provided. You pay for all you drink And they designed the course with quite a lot of waiting so you need to buy stuff.

We would recommend you to try another cooking class. Preferably in Chiang Mai!

Our impression is that this is a money machine with no soul.
