When we first arrived there, we felt like kings ! OMG it was our first hotel in thailand and we were so amazed about the quality of the room for its price !!!
We had a queen bed + a single bed, tv in the room. The beds were really confortable. The bathroom was pretty clean.
The location is quiet good, from the pier we went there walking it took us like 5-10min, you save the tuk tuk !

bang in the middle of Saladan, perfect position for the nearest beach and the town's shops and foody haunts. Breakfast wasn't offered so maybe now they don't do it (January 2014) but with so many wonderful options available that didn't matter. BTW, best breakfast at the Old House, starting from 9am.
Now the nitty grity. The room we had was dirty. Pure and simple, hadn't been really cleaned in....ever? Obvious things like dust on the mirror etc. Shower was only a trickle and only cold. The bathroom door once closed was really difficult to open, Someone crushed a cockroach on our stairs and it remained on the floor for a week...
Staff really sweet but the room was bearable rather than enjoyable. Good rates were available, the free hot water/coffee in the foyer while we used the free wifi lovely.

I am aware that some places don't have wifi, or hot water or provide drinking water - but this place advertises that it does all 3, and doesn't.
Wifi hardly ever works - and all you get is a shrug if you mention it to staff.
Our "hot" shower didn't work at all while we were there (3 nights), I told staff but nothing happened. Again they just shrug.
You put towels on the floor to get clean ones - but they fold them up (still wet) and lay them on the bed!
It says you get free drinking water every day - you may or may not.
We did find a huge cockroach but overall the place is fairly clean.
It SHOULD be charging about 800-900 Baht for a night for what you are getting, it's actually charging 1140. Staff during the day are friendly enough, the guy who works from 7 onwards is surly and can't really help with anything.

This was a bad experience from start to finish as the work ethic of the staff was really horrific. The staff were very lazy when it came to cleaning our room and had to be asked several times every day in order to get our room cleaned and eventually after an argument one of them would sulk off and clean it. Breakfast was served in what can only be described as a shed and when received i was genuinely afraid to eat it due to hygiene reasons so we decided to skip breakfast for the remainder of our stay. I will never ever return

Been travelling in Thailand for 10 years now and have visited countless guesthouses and hotels. This one is definitely in the top 3. Excellent price/value, we planned to stay one night ended up spending 5 waiting for our house to be ready.

Some might say it's on the expensive side, but if you book through Agoda you'll save 20% but they are willing to cut down prices if you stay more than one night

Everything was well maintained, super clean and well decorated.

Wifi included and Saladan city center 50 meters away but the hotel is on a quiet side street so no noise...

Do yourself a favor, if you're not looking for a resort this is a place not to be overlooked !

Big big thumbs up to the smiling and helpful staff !

Good value, we stayed one night as a stopover for travelling because it's near the ferry pier ( a five minute walk). Also it was near all the harbour restaurants, which are on stilts out over the water and a lovely place to sit.
The reception staff spoke very little English but smiled a lot and we got by with some miming.
There was wifi in reception plus 2 computers for free use by guests who hadn't got their own. Rooms were very nicely decorated, clean and had nice furniture. Huge bed, hard like all Thai beds, good quality bed linens and towels. We had aircon and you could leave it on when you popped out as it didn't rely on the door key being in place. We had a TV, fridge and free toiletries. Breakfast was included and was OK - tea/coffee, orange juice, eggs, toast and jam. If you turn left out of the hotel there is a nice beach about 200 metres through a big hotel. We asked for a quiet room and got one out the back overlooking a load of rooftops, but the front ones over the street would be quiet as the road is just a cul-de-sac, these rooms had a little balcony with chairs and had shade all the time as they faced north so I would have one of those next time. We had a few mozzies in the room when we arrived even though it's fairly well sealed but we just "asked" at the front desk and they lent us a spray can to spray the room with, then no problem. Great value at 940 baht incl breakfast.

The bad bits...............
We had room 611, hot shower had no hot water and there was a lot of black soot around the electric switch for the power to the shower. It looked like it had blown out some time ago and had not been fixed. I suspect they will not fix this for a long time. Also there was a lot of water on the floor in the bathroom where they had hosed it down in cleaning it, it took many hours to dry out and I wished (in retrospect) that I had asked them to mop it. Always check your room thoroughly before paying for it !
