“Not very good”

Had a lunch here. The staff is unfriendly. Nice interior with a bird and cats, but food was average (had a tom yum and massaman) and slightly undercooked. There are better places to go nearby for sure.

“Nice food, nice atmosphere”
Reviewed 16 December 2013

Catfish is a really nice place to spend some time looking out over the water. I had a green curry. As others have said before the portions are of a decent size and tasted good. The staff seem a bit indifferent. Nobody seemed to be working in the bookshop. There was a cat looking after the cash desk. So I took my purchases to the restaurant to pay, which seemed like a bit of an inconvenience for them to take my money from me. Even so, the laid back nature of this place is part of it's charm, so overall a positive experience.

“Quality ( vegetarian ) food for a reasonable price”
Reviewed 14 December 2013

We ate several times at the Catfish Bookshop & Restaurant this week and we were very satisfied with the food that was presented to us. Their menu contains Thai and Western style dishes and they even have some dishes from the Levant being falafel and humus with pita breads. That is something else for a change. They also have a significant set of vegetarian menu’s.

Another thing that is great about this restaurant is the good cappuccinos they are serving. The coffee quality is not the best but the quality of the milky froth makes up for this.

The ambiance is OK, there is a covered porch that oversees the water on which you can enjoy the breeze during the heat in the afternoon.

As someone else has mentioned before, the portions are the biggest but the quality of the food is superb. Thai and vegetarian style dishes are kept simple without becoming dull. With two persons you really have to do an effort to have the bill exceed exceed 1000 Baht, i.e. ~ € 25,00.

We enjoyed several lunches and diners at Catfish Bookshop & Restaurant and were very satisfied with them.
