Ideal spot for a romanitc getaway. Lovely setting and great service. Brilliant food. Its a bit of a trek to get to Pimalai but once you are here its really worth the trip! Much preferred the beach villas to the villas in the mountains but thats a matter of personal choice. There isnt much to do outside of the hotel property so if you are looking for an action-packed holiday, this is the wrong place. But brilliant for anyone who wants a relaxed holiday and is looking to be pampered.

First time for us at this hotel. Choose because of the review. All was excellent. Location cannot be better. Beach, clean and beautifull. Pools of the hotel amazing. Excellent service and food. Loved the breakfast. For sure price is on the High end but it is good value. the Pool Villa WOW amazing view, sunset.... Hope can try it again.

The resort is beautiful, the rooms are fantastic, and the service good. The only improvement I could recommend would be more attentiveness poolside- we would have purchased more food and drinks if someone had come and asked.
The restaurants and bars at the resort are lovely, but expensive. A short walk up the beach to the little town will open up many cheap options though.

I stayed at Pimali with my partner for 5 nights and enjoyed my time there but would only recommend this resort for people seeking a certain type of holiday.
Pimalai's strengths are its location and facilities. The resort is situated on the best bay on the island and has a beautiful infinity pool surrounded by multiple areas for sunbathing and relaxation. If you like to just stay on a sun lounger and read books all day and simply relax then Pimalai is definitely for you. Water and fruit on cocktail sticks is served all day and help to provide a relaxing experience. You can also take the free sea kayaks out to the sea for a paddle too which was great fun. Breakfast had a good variety of food - the dumplings and omelettes were delicious. Rooms were well cleaned and staff were very friendly and helpful when asked questions. Ask for a room with a sea view.

However the evening food in the beach bar restaurant in Pimalai was ok but not exceptional and I was disappointed at paying London prices and getting quite average food. After a disappointing meal my partner and I ventured out to other places for our evening meals. Time for Lime (a relaxed beach bar restaurant 25 minutes from Pimalai served an excellent tasting menu at 500 bhats a head (£10) and delicious mojitos. We also ate at Noon restaurant which was10 minutes away and had excellent prawn tempura again at very reasonable prices. Same same but different is a beach bar next to Pimalai and had good offerings of lunchtime snacks.

The resort did lack evening entertainment most probably because there was little demand for it. However the beach bar " Ka Tiange Bay resort" 10 minutes walk away on the beach featured brilliant singers who covered U2 and other great bands and provided great fun. One of the singers then gets up to do a little fire dancing on the beach! Definitely recommend this place for a drink or two.

I was very frustrated that Pimalai had an excellent spa but all the treatments were so expensive and at London prices. Indeed the yoga classes offered daily were £10 a class! Given I had paid quite a lot for our stay, I felt disappointed that the resort was charging for yoga classes. However I managed to find an amazing place for Thai massages recommended by an ex pat living on island and the Thai massage there was phenomenal and amazing value. (Manaleeta Massage - 30 mins from the resort).

Pimalai is a great resort if you plan to simply stay at the resort and relax all day and do very little else. My partner and I left the resort daily (as we hired a jeep - the taxi prices on the island are ludricous) and visited the national park, did cookery classes at Time for Lime (these are fantastic), hired a boat for the day to visit 4 islands, walked dogs from the local animal rescue centre (Lanta Animal Welfare) etc. If you plan to leave the resort daily to do excursions and activities then the resort may not be the best for you as you're not using the faciities and it's simply a place to rest your head in which case you can do this for much cheaper.

That said I did enjoy resting my head there and dipping in and out of the infinity pool when we weren't exploring the rest of the island!

Room Tip: Ask in advance for a room with a sea view.

Wonderful resort, fantastic accommodation- deluxe bayfront (401), excellent view of sunset from balcony. Wonderful beach, iced water and fruit given out while busy sunbathing. Plenty of water activities on offer, if you want to be active.
Good choice at breakfast and plenty of restaurants to choice from for evening meals.
We did prefer the beach restaurant as this had a nice relaxed feel and was cooler than then others. Seven sea restaurant and cafe, as lovely as they were, we found to hot and uncomfortable when eating. But food was very impressive, so worth a visit.
Koh lanta is a wonderful island, very quiet and peaceful, so if you are looking for nightife or busy, busy, busy then this island nor resort is for you! it is called a little piece of heaven for a reason.
