“Nice beach!”
Review of Khlong Khong Beach

Reviewed 25 February 2013

We had last been to Koh Lanta 7 years ago and we were pleasantly surprised to see it has not become too touristy YET. The beach is lovely with not many pegan sunworshipers or Long Tail boats going and coming so it is safe for long swims. No snorkeling though. Plenty of restaurants along the beach.

After 3 and a half months of travelling SE Asia, this was a perfect place to relax before moving on. Yeah, it is a little rocky when the tide retreats later in the afternoon, but this adds a more natural beauty to it. Especially seeing all the rock pools, teeming with life, that are left behind. The sunset over all of this is amazing also :-) It's also very quiet and peaceful here, despite the amount of bars along the beach (all discreetly nestled in the trees, without encroaching too much unlike some places I've been).

The bars in the evening definitely have a rasta thing going on which adds perfectly to the chilled vibe going on. Makes a miles better change from the bucket guzzling beaches of Phi Phi!

Loved this place and definitely would go back :-)

Can get quite dark late at night. If you are going to walk back late, it is best to have a torch with you.

Further south you will find more remote beaches with stunning views, further north is overrun by tourist outfits. This is the perfect medium, lots of funky beach bars, hammocks, rasta music, and decent night life. Beach is a little rocky in the water but honestly its not a problem, you can work around them to cool off no problem. Sand was good and sunset is beautiful.

We checked out a couple of beaches in Ko Lanta and found this is the best for young people travelling solo or with friends on a budget. There are quite a lot of bars and nice dining options and more going on then at the other beaches. Some of the other beaches were really quiet and full of families or couples, Khlongh Khong was definitely more fun!
