“HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2014

I wish I could give this place a zero for business policy. My husband and I booked a room for a week at Peace Paradise for our honeymoon months in advance and even emailed prior to our trip to confirm with the owner. However, on the day we arrived we were informed that they had made a mistake on their end and only had a room for us that night and not the rest of the week. We were so disappointed as we had specifically booked our room wanting a beach front room in the middle of beach with many dining options close by. They told us they had found a room for the rest of the week at a different hotel at the end of the beach. The other hotel had poor reviews online so we were skeptical. After viewing the new hotel ourselves in person shortly after arriving (hoping for the best) and letting the manager know that we did not like the other hotel, we were told that as they had no other option so unless we could find some place else on our own (in the middle of high season), we were stuck with the other hotel. The manager even asserted that he didnt believe we had gone to see the hotel in person. In addition we were made to pay for the entire week up front in order to even ensure we would have the option of the other room for the rest of the week-seriously, we had to pay for all week immediately upon arrival after traveling that far and just learning our room was gone. We felt so ripped off. We didnt feel that we had options and felt like they did not care how much time or money we had spent to get to Koh Lanta to have a relaxing honeymoon. We looked online for other room options and I even spent over an hour walking the beach the next morning inquiring in person for a room but everything was booked. So we were left with only the option of the hotel they moved us to (which we did not like; the poor reviews were warranted). And because the room at that hotel was not available until 2pm the next day we wasted a day of our honeymoon searching for a room and waiting around to move to a hotel that we did not want to stay at. They offered us no partial refund and pointed out that our new room was more expensive like we should be grateful - although it was not what we wanted in a room/resort or at location we wanted to stay in. I am not easily upset or disappointed but to be treated like this on your honeymoon after spending so much time and money planning a once in a lifetime trip was utterly disheartening and upsetting. I would never recommend spending your money on a place with such poor business practices.

This small resort had everything we needed - a spacious room with a good air conditioning unit, a lovely pool, a beach-side restaurant that serves good Thai food with a good breakfast, and a lovely beach. It was impeccably clean and the staff was gracious, thou English fluency was limited. It's a small resort (17 rooms if I counted correctly) but is adjacent to a number of other resorts with restaurants. It catered mostly to couples and families with small children.

Room Tip: Really no bad rooms that I saw. There is a nearby mosque with a loudspeaker call to prayer about 5...

Peace Paradise Beach gets the main points just right: The location is right on the beach (Klong Nin - very peaceful beautiful beach with lots of good restaurants), the spacious rooms are nice & modern, the pool is really clean & nice (with a separate section for kids) and the inner yard is very peaceful, the beach is good (just a bit rocky) and the small restaurant & bar and nice and serve good food and drinks.

But unfortunately the devil is in the details...and some of those were a bit off at least during our stay. The staff at the reception was a slightly inefficient: Our request to get more clothes hangers was forgotten immediately same as when we asked for a few of the lamps in our room to be fixed. The breakfast isn't amazing but as we discovered breakfast on this island is pretty mediocre everywhere. We were also unlucky as our bathroom had a repulsive smell of sewage and we also had a few nightly visits from Mr. & Mrs. Cockroach. We let the manager know of the issue and he promised to look into it. Our friends who stayed in two other identical Pool Side rooms had no such issues.

All in all Peace Paradise was one of the nicest places we stayed at during our time in Koh Lanta.

Room Tip: Go for the Pool Access Room.

Our room was very nice and cleaned very well every day. Peace Paradise is in a beautiful location. The pool is very nice. However, what makes me give this only 3 stars--- the people at reception. The woman barely spoke English and wasn't able to help us when we couldn't get our air conditioner to work. The man at the front desk was just plain unfriendly. Their are better options on the beach for much less money.

Firstly let me start by saying some people clearly expect the world for £60 a night.......pathetic, you have to take Thailand for what it is, not a European resort.

We arrived very late due to missing the ferry connection but someone had waited in reception for us (8.30pm) we were then showed to our room which was number 3, I would strongly suggest getting a pool room as you literally slide into the pool from your sun lounger and room 3 even has steps into the pool. The room was lovely, cleaned everyday and the sheets changed unlike other resorts. Always more free water, tea etc free wifi that worked all around the resort and even stretched to the beach which again can normally be found at additional costs.
So in regards to the room itself.. 5*.. Bathroom for the women i was told is great, hair dryer, lighted room and massive 2 person power shower and air con which is a must

The pool itself was clean, the sunbeds and umbrella's fine with more than enough for everyone which is also nice. The beach bar opened at 10/11 most days and the staff were fantastic and hardly played any music all day but when they did it was classic tunes from the likes of U2, oasis, police which are easy listening anyway, my only complaint with the beach bar if no one was there it shut at say 10pm but we sometimes fancied a night cap whilst we wished happy Christmas to family back home.

The restaurant, breakfast wasn't the best but they had enough for everyone, cold meat, rice, noodles, fresh fruit and omelettes I prefer a full English but have found in the 3 weeks I've been here watermelon is the choice of the day and so much healthier. Lunch and dinner there was really nice, we ate one or two small meals throughout the day and pad Thai at 80baht (£1.50) you can't go wrong

The beach, directly infront of the hotel ( it is literally 4/5 steps but some will moan at anything ) you have 5/6 small rock formations but if you walk a full 15 seconds it is clear shallow water that is calm, no longboats or beach bars making noise so is a perfect relaxing day

We stayed for 4 nights, wished we had stayed for weeks or months it was that nice and even thought about going back just for one last night but due to our flight from phuket couldn't manage it.

My girlfriend and I have already decided we are going back to the hotel for a week next time we loved it that much.

Not that it matters but around the resort you have 10/12 restaurants and bars that survived the 2004 disaster and we never had a bad meal once or an expensive meal/drink, there is a late night party bar called Mong bar which was great for Xmas Eve just round the corner but more than far enough away that a tuk tuk for 100baht comes in handy.

My only complaint was they are very close to what I think is a monastery and that at 5.30am someone prays and if you sleep light he will wake you but after 2/3 mins I was back to sleep each morning

Top hotel, top location for a couple or family

Nice hotel, great beach. Get a poolside room (can still see the sea and about 10 metres from the beach) and you get loungers on your terrace

Staff are really friendly, especially the boys who work the restaurant - always happy to see you and very helpful. Breakfast was average but fine if you are happy with eggs and toast, good was warm and the boys were happy to go to the kitchen to get anything topped up.

The call to prayer is loud, but was not a big deal, most of the 5am ones I slept through. Not sure what people mean by 'disco' .. Only thing I heard at night was the waves crashing!

Did t always have a great nights sleep because the rooms are very light- particularly light coming in through the bathroom which lit up the whole room.

Try the Indian selection on the menu- was fab :)

If you are scared of creepy crawlers keep your bathroom door shut as there is an entry point and they will come in!

Would recommend for people wanting a few days of quiet and calm

Great place to relax. Not sure about the reviews below in terms of disco and beach. This was perfect place for us to relax after phi phi. Reasonable price. Get a pool room!

Owner could be a bit more friendly.

Breakfast was awful. Everything was cold and no service whatsoever!
