i stayed as a volunteer in low season. This place's accommodations are very basic, but cover all the essentials. The energy is beautiful, with kind of groovy hippy art. Chill atmosphere, dogs and chickens around. Met some interesting fellow volunteers. Very quiet during low season.

Room Tip: The wifi comes from the main platform behind the bar, so pick one of the two bamboo huts nearby if y...

This was probably the coolest place I've ever stayed. Super cheap, amazing staff (volunteers also), close to the beach, what else do you need. Don't expect luxury here, but it's clean, airy, there's a lot of space, there are musquito nets and 100% guarantee you'll meet cool people. I 100 percent recommend this place to backpackers!

It was the perfect place for us, after a bad experience in chill out, we could cook in the earthen oven pizza and share with all the people in that place. It was a real chill out atmosphere over there.

Room Tip: The place is not for everyone, we stayed in a bamboo bungalow and the toilets were shared.

A happy little clearing 3 mins from the gorgeous Long Beach, Happy Hippies is a community of thatched huts and small hammock dorms. Outdoor wash basins and compost and water toilets and shower like contraptions with some water ! Nice chilled vibe, chickens and dogs roaming about, small bar and seating area in main house. Music, chat and laughter in a relaxed, simple environment. No sheets on mattresses (on floor) Mosquito nets and plug in repellent, fan and lamp provided in huts. If you don’t mind things stripped back to basics, then this is a lovely, if a little dusty, yet dirt cheap (excuse the pun) place to stay. Tip – take a torch if you venture out at night. The road leading to Happy Hippies gets pretty dark.

Room Tip: Sheets not provided Take a torch if you venture out at night. Road leading to camp gets pretty dark...

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 weeks and absolutely LOVED it! It became our home away from home within the first day we stayed! The accommodation is basic yes, but the staff and volunteers are super friendly and the atmosphere of this hostel is truly awesome! I definitely recommend this hostel to those travelling hippies looking for a unique, fun, and chilled out experience :)

This is one of the few backpacker joints on Koh Lanta. It is staffed by people doing workaway stints who are managed by the owner who is usually present. Everything here is set up to socialise. From the bar to the open mic nights. It is so easy to meet nice, interesting people.
The rooms here are basic. You get a thin mattress, a pillow, a sheet and a mosquito net. This is not for those who want to be pampered, but you only pay 200 baht a night. Bathrooms are shared, but have hot running water.
The location here is also excellent. A short stroll to the beach and plenty of restaurants and bars. Just be wary that about 3 nights a week there will be some sort of racket from the nearby bars or the Muay Thai Stadium. So there will be music playing until 2-3 am. I recommend you just go to the bars and make these nights party nights.
Clayzy House is one of my all-time favourite backpacker hostels. So much so that I stayed there for 10 nights. It is such a cool Bohemian hangout. I don't think I could stay anywhere else on Lanta. Hopefully, one day I'll be back.

Room Tip: This is a place for people to socialise and hang out so if you are expecting something super comfort...
