Royal Lanta Resort and Spa
Ranked #41 of 85 Hotels in Ko Lanta
Reviewed 27 February 2014

Lanta was all booked, the only hotel we could find for an evening is the Royal Lanta. Rooms very spacious but old and very dirty especially. Unqualified staff (the waiter could not find the number of the room that we had been assigned). At the reception demanded payment in advance. In the room there was no telephone to communicate with the front desk. CONNECTION interent only in public areas. Towels punctured and stained and the bathroom animal excrements: all the "modest" sum of 5,300 baht.

I read several reviews here and many seemed disapointed with the restaurant... We've just arrived here yesterday, so you could question our opinion. However, we got it booked with a total roundtrip and this is our last stay and actually we're supprised, in a positive way. The room is surely okay, bathroom looks like it's just been renovated and looks great! Breakfast was fine and yesterdays dinner (of local food) was delicious as well... Maybe some other reviewers tried the burgers and pasta? But the Green curry and Hot pan were absolutely great. I also read about people who said the beach is to far away if your close to the reception... Well if a two minute walk seems far to you... You should just go back sitting in front of the tellie eating crisps and doing nothing ;) Overall we think it's a good place in a beautiful enviroment with helpfull staff and close to the beach and some usefull shops!

From the moment we came to Royal Lanta we felt relaxed and wonderful. It is truly amazing place. We booked Superior Bungalow and it was so much better then we expected. We enjoyed it,even though spending little time there. Staff was very helpful and nice. People working there smile at you all the time and do a great job making you feel comfortable. The pictures on internet do not do this place justice,as it looks so much better in reality. The resort is on the Klong Dao beach-really nice beach (no rocks, just sand)not many people. We will definitly come here again.
Our advice is, book a bungalow:)

Thank you for your Trip Advisor review, we are very glad to hear you enjoyed your stay and appreciate the time you have taken to praise our Resort.

We are really situated in the middle of 3 kilo sandy beach of Klong Dao and Saladan town is within a small walking distance. All of our bungalows are furnished with a real teak wood furniture from the north of Thailand and every room has balcony or veranda at the front to sit back and relax.

I hope that other negative reviewers on this site will read your comment.

We are really looking forward to greeting you again with a “Welcome Back”

We stayed at the royal lanta in January 2014 it's 3km from the ferry and got a tuk tuk for 150 baht to the hotel. Reception area is nice with ponds and jungle like wooden walkways to the standard bungalows. Bungalows are basic rooms with tv air con double bed and mossie nets and safety boxes. Restaurant Hans on the beach next to hotel is nice. Beach is nice white sand and low tide blue sea about 3km long. At the top on the main road is a seven 11 and a coffee shop the other side that sells fried ice cream for 40 baht. We done elephant trecking from here for 800 baht to the one nearest the hotel, they were not very professional picture cost 150 baht and to feed them was an extra 50 baht each. We only were on the elephants for half an hour. We also got a tuk tuk for 80 baht to long beach however I thought our beach was nicer. Ko lanta is very quiet with not much to do. Hotel is nice in a good setting and very relaxing. Breakfast is basic and cold with rice, noodles, sausages bacon and fresh eggs and omlets. They also make waffles. Hotel seems old and needs some tlc but compared to others along the beach in this area it looks one one the nicest hence the higher price tag.

Thank you so much for your review and I am very pleased that you liked our location on one of the main beaches of Koh Lanta, which still remains a great place to get away from it all.

Everything, including 7eleven, many great restaurant and coffee shop and Saladan town itself, are all within a small walking distance for you to enjoy. Our country has a fantastic food culture. There are many options for all taste along the beach of Klong Dao and down town of Saladan nearby

We hope to see you again on your next visit to Lanta.

We really enjoyed our 6 nights at Royal Lanta and we will definitely be back. It is a real chill out experience in a very relaxing tropical location with lovely chalet bungalows in a jungle-like layout. Not sure we have been to the same hotel as other negative reviewers on this site. Far from being grumpy we found the hotel staff very friendly. They all smiled and said hello at every opportunity. The two pools are beautiful and the beach location could not be better. We had breakfast at the hotel every day but ate out for all other meals. Ban Saladan is busier and very close by tuk tuk for evening meals. Transfers by Krabi Shuttle were excellent and very competitively priced. All in all a great chill out start to our Thai holiday. Now off to busier Ao Nang and then even busier Patong......

Lovely big bungalow's which to be fair are a little tired. Pool lovely, beach great (great for running). Clear blue water. Take lots of insect repellent, use the mosquito nets, look out for snakes and be prepared cockroaches in your room (we had two). Don't eat at the hotel, beach restaurants are great and much cheaper, particularly Hans, next to the Hotel. We did the Koh Phi Phi tour which we booked on the beach and was great. Really liked the hotel and the vibe, just wished that our door fitted and that didn't have the cockroach experience.

Room Tip: close to the infinity pool is better

Thank you very much for your kind review for positive and negative ones.

Our two pools; one is by the beach and another one is at the back of the resort which is more quiet to relax.

Thank you so much for this helpful review about our great location on one of the main beaches of Koh Lanta, which still remains a great place to get away from it all. Everything, including many great restaurant and bars besides Hans next door are all within a small walking distance for you to enjoy.

rooms are big... but a bit old... smelled of old.... Good value for money. PErfect location in front of a nice sandy beach... 5 minutes away from the main village (short tuk tuk trip for 200 thai bats)
