“Good resort. Excellent service, lovely rooms”
Reviewed 16 April 2009

Stayed here with husband and 2 children aged 4 and 11 for 3 nights. Had a family room, which had double bed and bunkbeds. Nice and clean with lovely furniture. The staff here were superb, extremely courteous and attentive. They picked us up from our previous resort and also arranged a minibus to take us to Krabi airport when we left, which was great and hassle free. (2,700 Baht)
The large pool was always empty and we seemed to be the only people using it. It was beautiful and had umbrellas for shade.
We didn't use the other pool near the beach, but seemed fine. Had massage at spa which was excellent.
The beach here is ok, but not as nice as further south on the island. Swimming in the sea is fine, but no fish or coral for snorkelling as in the south.
Breakfast was mediocre, but other meals taken in the restaurant were good and snacks in the cafe/bakery ok.
The resort itself is beautiful with wonderful trees and greenery. Overall a lovely tranquil place with excellent service.

Just returned from two weeks staying in a Royal Executive bungalow at Royal Lanta - everything you could want for a relaxing beach holiday. Breakfast, which was included, was superb, and set us up for the day - didn't need anything else to eat until the evening.
Only critisism I would have is a lack of atmosphere in the restaurant in the evening - we only ate there once, the food was fine, but staff started setting up the breakfast stuff before we'd finished our meal! I made use of the spa facilities whilst my husband went diving, and I can thoroughly recommend it - more expensive than a beach massage, but more choice of type of massage and a more pampering experience - lovely! Someone else has already mentioned the bar/restaurant next door - called Hans and managed by a guy called Jim - highly recommend anyone staying nearby eats there and especially try their hot plates - delicious! We also liked Picasso, further down the beach, which was also a bar/restaurant but did a great bar-b-q every night (when it wasn't raining!). You also get a good view of the fireshows from Picasso - added bonus. All in all a great place to stay - and Royal Lanta suitable for all ages of guests - would recommend to anyone.

Nice resort, with perfect beach. There a cool beach bars just next door. Rooms a good one of our rooms had a outdoor toilet... not the best solution.
The staff is excelente, very helpful.

We stayed at the Royal Lanta for 5 nights. It was truly a spectacular experience. The cabanas are clean, romantic, and reminds you of the tropical paradise you are staying in. The Location is within walking distance into the town where you catch the ferry, although a 50 baht tuk tuk ride is worth it with luggage. The beach is long and soft white sand, perfect for strolling or laying out. The water is very calm and protected, with the phi phi islands in full view off in the horizon. Koh Lanta is a little bit off the beaten path, but definitely worth it. Check out the National Park at the bottom of the island, and Old Town Lanta on the other side. There is a whole lot of relaxing and fun to be had!

We stayed at Royal Lanta for 5 nights at the end of January. The staff were so hospitable and friendly. Our bungalows were perfectly sized, clean, and very homey feeling. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and quiet! Walk down the boardwalk path, through all the bungalows, and pop out onto the manicured grass around one of the pools, and step down onto the gorgeous white sand beaches. The main town square can be walked to or a short tuk tuk ride.

I recommend Royal Lanta to anyone looking to stay in Ko Lanta. And oh, rent a scooter for a day (200 BHT) and take yourself around the whole island!

Ko lanta is a lovely island, touristic but relatively 'out of the main stream', we really like the lay back atmosphere of the place. The hotel is close to main port/town,on the beach close to other resorts and to the only beach bar open during he low season. The room we stayed the first night, mountain views, was just stunning, massive room and bathroom, with views on the pool. Then we stayed at the executive suite, with Jacuzzi and a palm tree in the bathroom!!!! The decorations are tasteful, the breakfast is nice and the staff really helpful. It was really a great holiday. Be warned that if you go during the low season many they do a lot od refurbishment and the beach is not exactly as you see on the pictures as the sea is wavy and the sand full of debris, still a nice beach but not quite the same!

I'm so glad we decided to stay at the Royal Lanta - it was excellent!

Everything about this place was perfect during our stay. Bungalows were very spaciou and decorated using aged furniture - so don't go looking for any modern/fancy stuff. The shower room may not have looked the best but it did the job! We never used the outdoor shower as the floor was always covered in leaves etc, which I suppose couldn't be helped.

All bungalows are set amongst lush vegitation - very tranquil in the evenings.

Both pools were lovely, although we personally preffered the mountain view pool.

Staff were very friendly and helpful so no complaints there.

We particularly liked the fact that we could hire a dvd player for the room (250 baht per day). All dvds were free of charge and there was a huge selection to choose from.

Also Ko Lanta in general is great if you're looking for a complete chill out. It may not be as pretty as Koh Phi Phi but it makes up for that in other ways. Enjoy!
