“Book a sea view room”
Reviewed 10 January 2013

Do not be put off by negative reviews. We were allocated a river view room which as previously mentioned in other reviews, was disappointing. We asked to be reallocated to either a hill top room or a sea view room and were offered a sea view room [fantastic] for a very small additional cost. The staff are brilliant. The beach immediately outside the hotel is a bit rocky but the loungers around that beach are a dream, fab place to relax. The shops, restaurants, fantastic beach are about 15 min walk from the Hotel, a lovely walk and not taxing at all. There is a shuttle bus from the hotel but you dont really need it. The best restaurant we found on the beach was the Roi Thai with food to die for and the presentation out of this world. Good vibe here as well. Would definately go to same hotel again, we thought the location great.

Room Tip: Def avoid the river view rooms unless you are a very seasoned traveller. They are clean etc.,. but y...

Arrived at the moonlight after staying at the Sofitel krabi, and then at the houben(wow!), so we were expecting it to be disappointing........but we were wrong! The moonlight has a lovely vibe. Kicked off flip flops and didn't put them back on till we left. We had a sea view room, clean and fair sized with a nice balcony. Pool area had plenty of loungers. Breakfasts were very good. There is a private beach area, with some great big bean bags to lounge on. Very private as rocks cut the resort off from others along the coast. Walk out of the resort and within 10mins walking you can reach bars, restaurants, and a large sandy beach. The staff at the moonlight are all friendly and helpful. The resort is in a great location on koh lanta. Would highly recommend. My only tip would be, pay to upgrade from the standard river view rooms, we would probably not been as happy if we had stayed in one of those.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in December. The Hotel location is not very good. It is middle of nowhere. Walk to the closest bars/restaurants is 20 minutes. We booked one of the river cottages and it wasn't the best chose. It was by the muddy river, there were loads of moscitos and roosters were waking us up around 5am-6am as they were wandering under our hut. The room was little bit cramped for two people and keep shaking when you walk around. The beds were ok. Bathrooms were big shower room and there were times when the water was just lukewarm plus the shower pressure wasn't the best. I would recommend booking one of the seaview huts.

Even it was high season there were items on the menu that were not available. The staff spoke very little or no english, but this is usually not a problem. Their cocktail making skills were poor (pina colada being coconut milk+ vodka served over ice) but after giving "few lessions" we were getting somewhere..

The hotel has got a great chill out deck with big pillows to watch the sunset. This was definetely the best feature of this hotel.

There is a free internet/ public pc in the hotel

The hotel spa is litel bit pricey in Thai standards, but the owner got a massage shack 5 minutes walk from the hotel on the road where the prices are almost 50% cheaper.

As we stayed at the moonlight bay resort in the low season the bar and spa were not open, despite this we had a fantastic time. We were virtually the only people there so it was very quiet. I assume it is very different during the high season.

The food at the restaurant is delicious, some of the best I've eaten in Thailand. Sadly, again, due to lack of other customers, they couldn't offer everything on the menu (even coke) but everything we did eat/drink was exceptional.

The rooms were great, fantastic sea views and all clean with air con and nice bathrooms. We were upgraded (for no extra cost) to a honeymoon suite on our last night which was amazing and had a brilliant outdoor bath with sea views.

The hotel itself is in a peaceful location with a sweet little beach of its own and a nice pool. It isn't in the midst of the more built up areas of the island but you can easily get around so that is not an issue at all.

All in all it is a great place but I would say it would be a bit more fun when the bar etc are available and there are a few more people around for company!!

Stayed here for 10 days in one of the honeymoon suites. We received awarm welcome from our arrival and were treated very well during our stay. The staff are all genuinely very friendly and helpful, helping us book excursions, car hire etc.

Room was simply but appointed with a lovely huge bed facing out to the ocean. and had a large balcony with a Jacuzzi, which is where I'd spend most afternoons!

There is not much nearby, barring a few small shops, but there is a daily shutle bus to nearby Klong Nin beach where there are plenty of beach bars. And there are also Tuc-Tuc drivers outside the hotel.

Hotel restaurant was of a pretty good standard and probably only slightly more expensive than the beach bars on Klong Nin

All in all , we had a pretty amazing stay here and didn't want to leave

Had booked for 10 nights but left to find more suitable accommodation after 2. The resort is not particularly suited to families (we have 4 kids 6, 8, 12, 15). The pool is small and the beach dangerously rocky. We had 2 sea view rooms but the stairs are painful!!! It's a fair way from ban saladan, so transport was an ongoing issue. The restaurant was nice but not amazing. Most of the staff were pleasant but again, nothing remarkable. Seemed everyone was tired and worn out after the tourist season. For the money, the entire resort felt worn out! Bungalows and pool side need rejuvenation, as right now it's not worth the money.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are tired and very basic. The bathrooms are pathetic!.....however, the view from the...

We stayed here in 2011 and found it to be a very relaxing resort. its small clean and the staff were very friendly and great value for money. The hotel does have some hill side apartments overlooking the sea and i recomment staying here if they are available.
Its close by to a small village which has places to eat and shop which are very straighforward but nothing special.
\we ould stay here again if we were back in lanta.
