“Good stay”
Reviewed 26 April 2010

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights and had a nice time. We stayed in a forest view bungalow and it was nice and high up with good A/C and a nice modern bathroom.
You're literally in the middle of a forest, so do expect to hear creatures running around a bit during the night! I think we paid around £50 per night which was ok. You can hire a moped from the reception and go exploring around the island which is definately worth doing. You can also get a Tuk Tuk from outside the hotel in the evening and the driver can take you to one of the local restaurants which aren't very far away and most situated on the beach too - which are lovely! Klong Nin is a close by beach and has a good few restaurants and chill out bars which are worth a visit.
The restaurant at the resort is ok for lunch, but definately worth venturing out in the evening to find something different.
I also agree with previous reviews about the breakfast - there's not a great selection and the first day we went down for it there were ants running all over the pots of mushroom/ham for the omletttes which was disguisting, so we didn't eat breakfast again.
All in all it is worth staying at though if you can get a good deal. Nice sunset spot to have a cocktail too and you can eat breakfast elsewhere!

We have just returned from our dream wedding at moonlight resort, thanks to the staff ( especially Kai!) who were always there to go the extra mile, we had the best day of our lifes. Cant not understand the negative reviews below to be honest!the pool was definately NOt dirty! the breakfast exceeded our expectations too. All 15 of us had a wonderful time, a dream holiday. It is not quite a 5 star european standard, but come on you are in thailand so what do you expect! The only slight negative is that the restaurant is a little pricey compared to average thai prices, not quite the fantastic thai curry that you expect when in thailand, saying that the food for the wedding was beyond amazing almost as if it was a different chef, so we were very happy. the location on the beach was perfect for our wedding, the only resort on koh lanta with a private beach ( although rocky and not ideal for swimming) it was perfect and very romantic and private for our big day, they also set up a beautiful area for us all to enjoy a private reception with our guests, everything decorated with flowers, they went far beyond what we thought was included in our wedding package. We tended to eat out at night only a 15 minute walk to a heap of restuarants and if you are feeling lazy a cheap 5 minute tuktuk ride, so hardly a bad location! we and some of the guests also got upgraded for free also!the honeymoon suite was fab!amazing view and jacuzzi!GO THERE AND SEE FOR YOURSELF!if you want 5star standards and dont want culture dont go to thailand!if you would like to contact me for photies and if you have any questions etc please do!

We stayed at the Moonlight Bay Resort and for one night. When we checked out the next day, we were happy to leave. While from the outside the place seemed quite nice, it just didn't bother with the important small touches. The pool looked dirty and the breakfast was terrible -- low quality and covered with ants. The beach while beautiful was not suitable for swimming since it was covered in rocks. We only stayed in their cheapest room, but we would have been extremely upset if we had selected the more expensive suites. The location was also less than ideal. It is not really close to any restaurants and nightlife.

We lived one family in one Sea View Villa. It was a little too tight, but it worked. The hotel and the resort was fantastic. The service and staff were amazing and kind. We did not have a boring minute - only four relaxing days. The food was very good and the staff working there were personal and sweet. They were there for your service 24 hours a day.
Nice and cold pool. Eating at the beach with a fantastic view of the sunset was like a dream. The breakfast was very good - spesially made after your request. The whole stay was like beeing in heaven. They arranged all pick-up`s for us - for either shopping, elephantriding or transfer. We`ll be back.

Like others noted, this is not a 5 star resort and the rooms are quite basic. However, I absolutely loved it and would definitely return. The morning begins leisurely with a decent sized buffet breakfast. You can then chill by the pool or take the shuttle service to a larger beach down the road. The private beach is small and rocky and I wouldn't swim there. All the rooms are their own private houses set in the forest or overlooking the sea. The staff are absolutely wonderful and so helpful.

This resort was more rustic than I would usually go for, but that is the beauty of Koh Lanta! It's not built up at all like other resorts. It's a wonderful change and I loved it.

A great resort for the price!

We stayed at moonlight bay resort at the end of our month long trip in Thailand and can honestly say ive never been so dissapointed in a place. The resort rates are highly overpriced charging 5* rates when it is cleary a 3* resort at best. We arrived and were shown to our seaview room, which was nice to be fair but in need of a refurb. The pool was dirty and bar staff seemed non exsistant at times, you almost had to seek them out if you fancied a drink, not what u expected of service in thailand when you are spendning £75 per night. The hotel is not near anywhere else, if you are looking for total relaxtion this is a good option however if you fancy at least 1 other choice of bar/resturant you would be best placed to look elsewhere.

Great service. Romatic and idyllic setting. Rooms (forest) is a bit small, but for only sleeping it is what you need. The small beach is from a postcard when its high tide!

Only 4 stars because I don't want people to think that the place is a state-of-the-art place, and it is not walking distance to any other places (shopping, restaurants etc). I would love to came back, because the place is great value for money. And the people working there is very nice and service minded. For me this place is perfect for 3-5 days stay.
