Just sheltering under an umbrella by the beach at Rawi Warin on my last day in Thailand. Only three good sunny days in two weeks, mainly rain and overcast.
The hotel is very good. Facilities and rooms are great. Be warned that some of the rooms are really high and the heat saps your energy. There are rooms at growing level but imagine they will be a few hundred pounds more for a week. Buyers beware if you are not fit.
Most of the clients are Northern Europeans and a surprising number of small children. Mainly folk in there 30s & 40s. There was no nightlife as such and people keep to themselves.
Restaurant food is good (menu changed for the better midweek) but not cheap for Koh Lanta. Restaurants on the road strip outside were dodgy but there are some better ones on the beach further down (Koi Thai?).
Koh Llanta is a bit scruffy and I cannot see the benefit of it over somewhere such as Khoa Lak which is more accessible.
Had a good afternoon canoeing in the mangroves seeing the monkeys and a decent dive trip with Blue Planet Divers.More
