Chaw Ka Cher Tropicana Lanta Resort

Reviewed 29 March 2013

We stayed at Chaw Ka Cher for 3 nights, it's a good place to stay in Lanta, not crowded or noisy, very clean and well equipped. Our room must have been the one with the giant lizard in the open-air bathroom, which was part of the experience. Breakfast was ok for us, I found the hall is really welcoming as well as the pool. The staff is friendly and I appreciated that one of the girl invite us to sat on a bench to show us the map of the island. One night we came back late and rang the bell, a boy came out after some minutes and gave us the keys of our bungalow.

We were a bit disappointed by two facts:
1. we rent a scooter and the first they gave us was unsafe (the steering wheel was not working properly and the scooter went zigzagging). They gave us another one.
2. before paying the bill we checked it and found they had charged beers we had never picked from the fridge. We didn't pay for them.

We stayd there 5 nights with our 4 year old daughter. Never experienced such a kindness of personal before. They are like your family. Would definitely recommend this hotel for families with young children. They have a nice pool and very cosy hotel. Outside bathroom is nice and we liked a little lizard living with us. It was like our pet. You need to pay extra for children breakfast but it did not cost much.

Clean rooms, very friendly staff, calm and beautiful garden ;)
We booked 2 poolrooms and the suite.
The suite is just very large, with 2 rooms, which is somehow very convenient.
The staff is very friendly, and will help you as much as they can.
Though, don't expect a "european" service ;) But it's part of the hotel charm...

Back here for a second time and can only say that it is as good as ever. Having read the review saying that the staff were unfriendly and unhelpful I felt compelled to write again. I stayed at the hotel at the same time as the reviewer and everyone was smiling and helpful. Most of the staff do not speak very good English and perhaps their lack of understanding could be mistaken for unfriendliness. Having stayed in ten hotels during my eight weeks in Thailand, I can say that this hotel is great value for money. The rooms are clean and the pool and gardens are well maintained. It is a quiet oasis to return to after a day on the beach. I have two slight critisms. I think the internet should be free in the rooms, not just in reception and coffee making facilities in the cheaper rooms would be nice. If I return to Koh Lanta next year this will certainly be on my list of places to stay.

Great Bungalows set in great gardens with a pool. The rooms are comfortable and serviced every day, the outside shower is a gem ! The staff from Gardener, Maids and the girls at the front desk always have smile and are keen to help. Keep up the good work.

I really did like being in this resort. It isnt close the beach, but in this case it doesnt matter, cause if you wanna enjoy Lanta, is better to rent a bike. Resort is huge, with beautiful garden and pool. Bungalows itself are clean, comfortable and well furnished. There is also a bit unusual bathroom, which means the shower is under the opened sky. The idea is definitely not bad, but I recommend to have a shower during the day light, cause when you turn the light on evenings, all mosquitos from neighbourhood are at your place. But basicly it is quite marvellous. There also lived a giant lizard in the bathroom and we saw lots of monkeys playing nearby.Staff was very nice and even the ladies dont speak english well, they do their best.
If I ever come back to Lanta again, for sure to Chaw Ka Cher.

We arrived to Koh Lanta by ferry. There were lots of tuk-tuk drivers on the ferry trying to sell their service with higly overpriced! Luckily we didn't book a ride from them, because there was a free tuk-tuk ride provided by the hotel. So we got easily to the hotel, and while we were checking in the friendly staff gave us a welcome drink. Don't know what it was, ice tea perhaps, but the smell was much worse than the taste.

We got a nice room (#121) near the pool. And the hotel was so lovely! Nice little pathways squirming between the rooms (cottages) and palm trees. If possible, it got even nicer when the dark came and the lights went on. But the absolutely best part of this hotel is the restroom! Showering under the full moon and stars while crickets are singing, that is the memory I will always remember and get back to.

Breakfast was good, not so much choices than in other hotels but you could manage with that quite long. There were fruits, bread, cereals and yogurt for everyone, and you could also make an order from the list (its included in the room price). We had omelettes every mornign, it was ok. We also ate at this restaurant couple times, the food was ok.

The hotel is situated in a quite long walking distance from the markets and restaurants, and therefore its nicely quiet. We rented a scooter from the hotel for our stay, so we could easily drive to restaurants in the evening. It is cheaper if you book it for more than just one day.

We stayed here in december 2012 for five nights. Travelled as a one couple and one family with three children aged 3, 8 and 10 years.
