“Nice place”
Reviewed 23 January 2014

The hotel room (platinum suite) was large and there was good space to 5 people. It was not light enough in the rooms, only small night lamp in both bedrooms and ceiling light in the living room (there was very high ceilings, so the ceiling light was worthless). Best lightning was at the toilet and bath room. It was nice to spend time in the evenings at large terrace. We didn´t use the jacuzzi at all, it looked like so "old-fashioned" and not so clean. Beds were very hard in the beginning but it was ok after few days. The housekeepers did they work very well, we had clean apartment all the time. There was enough shampoo, hair conditioner and showergel in the bath room. Slippers were included too. The beach was very nice and shallow. We like´d it. There was several restaurants and small shops on the beach. We went without shoes from our hotel to the beach; very nice to walk on the warm sand in the evenings. Our teens were excited about hundreds of crabs and seashells on the beach. We used tuk tuk to saladan and it was 50 bath/person, but we got often the ride 150baht/5persons -> just try to get lower and lower prize and you get it! Saladan was very nice place; much bigger than we expected. It looks like a very small village in the travel guides and pictures in the internet. We were surprised very positively. Various of restaurants to choose and inexpensive, delicious food. We didn´t eat in our hotel except breakfast and it was very good and lot´s of everything to choose. We got many kilos during our 2 weeks holiday! Some meals were too spicy, remember say "mae pet" => not so spicy :) We ate for 80-100baht/meal (it was often Pad Thai=very good rice food with chicken, sea food or meat and vegetables). The beverages was from 30baht = soft drinks, thai beer from 60-70 baht in the restaurant. We had 2 wonderful boat trips to snorkeling, I recommend Opal Travels; very nice and safe with them. Their trips are available to buy from another side of the road opposite the hotel and the small shop. If you buy the boat/island trip from local people, you get it for half prize compared to your travel agency. National Park is nice place to go and you can eat on the way there -> Same same but different -restaurant ; very good food and beautiful place on the beach. Prepare to wait for the table...they request you to beach bar to wait and drink while the table is released. We were there twice and we had to wait almost one hour. It´s worth it:) There were many many fine place at Koh lanta, just ask more..

This was a great start to our Andaman Sky tour through the region, we booked an Emerald Suite for my husband, myself and the 2 teenagers, which was a great choice, lots of room and easy access to everything important. Very service-minded resort, the facilities were good too and everything was in good condition. We stayed here for 3 nights and then went on to Pimalai, which must be the best resort on the island, see my other review for more about that place. We also went to Ao Nang and Phuket in a really wonderful itinerary with lots of activities put together for us by our agent - even the transfers were fun - stopped for an elephant trek on one and to go snorkelling on another, which was an inexpensive private boat transfer

1. The room(emerald suite) was large and comfortable with terrace. There were tea facilities.
2. The breakfast was miscellaneous and tasty.

-
1. The beach is bad, water is troubled, there were a lot of medusas. You have to use tuk-tuk or motobike to reach good and convinient beach.
2. Wifi. There is no wifi at the reception, only near the pool. But wifi router was always full and it was imposible to connect. So, there is no free wifi.
3. We had HB. The dinners were not so good as breakfast. It was bad idea to take HB.
4. There are a lot of children, so if you want calm and quiet you will be disappointed.

Room Tip: We had Emerald suite on the second. It was good.

The Cha Da offers a really good spot from which to view the sunsets for which Lanta is justifiably renowned. We booked this place as one of the chill-out destinations in an island hopping holiday put together to my specifications by Andaman Sky (top marks to them for a great hols). The Cha Da has a good restaurant which offers reasonably priced food.
We were concerned when our travel agent recommended this resort, as there was quite a bit of negative feedback on this website about it. I can only write that from my perspective the criticism was all nonsense. We had a great time and I’d go back in a flash if I could.
The meet and greet at this resort set the time for what was to follow, with the manageress personally welcoming us with a refreshing drink and old towels, which were much appreciated our long journey to reach the resort. What we liked best about the Cha Da was having a lagoon pool just outside our room, which we thought was just wonderful.
We found every staff member friendly an polite. My wife made friends with the reception staff and every day spent time chatting away to the like long lost friends, I almost felt sorry for them, but they didn’t seem to mind (my wife loves to talk). The restaurant staff were fantastic and the food was delicious and well presented. Housekeeping was efficient and well organized, unobtrusive too. The beach is only a few metres away from the pool – it is very peaceful and quiet and the sea was warm – a bit too warm for my liking but I’m not complaining, I certainly prefer the sea here to the temperature back home, anyway.
We went out for a nice meal in a restaurant looking out over the sea and built on stilts on top of the water – very atmospheric and the food was good too, highly recommended. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay at this resort and would recommend it to other travelers.

We stayed here for 5 nights as 3 families and got adjoining rooms at the pool ("gold suites").

Contrary to some other reviews, our checkin experience was very pleasant. Our special requests were considered, and they were even very accommodating with regards to children's breakfast charges.

The rooms are separated into three areas - sleeping, bath, and living. They are not particularly luxurious or beautiful, but large and functional. Room service always provided more than enough beach and bath towels. Mattresses are very hard though.

The hotel pools are excellent. The main pool is really huge, equally suitable for children playing and for lap swimming, yet surprisingly quiet (the two other smaller pools near the beach were much more popular with other guests during our stay). It has a shaded baby area and is in general relatively shady and protected from wind because of the surrounding hotel buildings.

The beach is very nice - a long, wide, shallow sandy beach forming a crescent-shaped bay, again great for kids!

The breakfast buffet offers a huge variety, with several different new items every day. The local Thai dishes are actually very good, some of the others not always up to standard. The worst part would probably be the "juices" - nothing but diluted syrup.

We had a BBQ dinner at the hotel one night, which was fine.
The other nights we walked out onto the beach, where there are a few nice and somewhat cheaper restaurants (and small shops) within 5-10 minutes walking.

Saladan is a bit far to walk; there are tuktuks outside the hotel who will take you. We found the standard charge (50B/person) on the high side for the relatively short distance, but as we were a large group, we were able to get them to take us into town for 100B/tuktuk (which can fit 4-5 people) without much haggling, which was more reasonable.

A few downsides:
* Despite the large number of families with small children, the hotel is not stroller friendly. Stairs everywhere, even to get into ground-floor rooms, and bumps every few meters on the footpaths.
* There is a rather smelly water canal running through the middle of the hotel. Beware when staying in the nearby rooms (emerald suites in the standalone buildings).
* Pool hours are from 7am to 6pm, which I found too short. You have the pool at your doorstep, and you're not supposed to go for an evening swim?

Room Tip: Some rooms have a king bed, some have two twin beds which can be joined - the latter provide more sl...

This is true lay a lovely resort. We booked this on a discount site and sent numerous emails to the resort asking about transfers to which we got no response. We were also under the impression that it was 90 minutes from the domestic airport with no mention of ferries (yes a big rookie mistake) as it transpired the return transfer was 8000 baht which is obscene to say the least we were advised that we could not travel with other guests which I find incredulous The travel time can also take up to 3 hours with 2 ferry crossings (they are in the process of building 1 bridge) which do not commence until 6.00am so beware do not book return flights until at least 10am!!!! Now the good things, a gold room has you right on the pool which is fabulous, room attendants are great but they tend to leave the doors open when cleaning so take mosquito repellant. Food and massages along the beach are fantastic and worth the walk. Breakfast is included but be early as some of the food may be left out for up to three hours which I learnt the hard way from the chicken sausages....... Not a great cole of days. We would travel back to this island however we would ensure our transfers were included.

Room Tip: When you book ask for the adults only section. We were woken all the time I. Our section from very e...

My wife and I returned here 3 years after our last stay, and found exactly what we were looking for. A quiet, relaxed and very comfortable week by the beach. The weather was not great, but that didn't matter too much. I would return again in low season, it is exactly what we wanted. We also decided to leave 24 hours earlier and do some shopping in Bangkok and the hotel arranged everything, including flights, transfers and exchanging a nights accommodation with their Bangkok hotel.
