The Chada is a beautiful resort, however we found that visiting during low season is something we will NEVER do again. We thought we were special as we were upgraded from the pool access room to the diamond villa upon our arrival, only to find out that we had no option, as the main swimming pool was empty, and there was repairs being done to the rooms. As there was no more than approx. 12 guests at the resort, only 1 restaurant was open and the staff often had to be "found" for any service. The menu selection was very, very limited as we were often told that certain meals were not available, even to the extent of running out of bread rolls and hot chips (french fries). In 1 meal that we ordered, the french fries were replaced with potato chips (crisps). This is far from a 5 star meal. As our stay was with another family (8 of us in total), the lack of facilities offered made it harder to socialise with our friends whilst in the resort, especially at night. On 1 occassion we were enjoying drinks around the pool, until nightfall (only around 6pm in low season) and no lights were turned on, and the best a staff member could offer was a candle. On another occasion we were enjoying drinks in a designated area ajoining the only restaurant open, when, at 10pm our bills arrived, the doors were closed and the lights were turned off - looks like it was bed time !!!! we felt that were intruding on the staff and were a hinderance to them. We didn't last our expected stay and transferred to the Krabi thai Village Resort in Ao Nang (owned by the same company) and found a lot more guests, all staff were fantastic and ALL the facilities were operational.
The taxi / tuc tuc price at the chada is also very expensive in comparison to the prices offered in Krabi. It may not seem much (50 baht per person compared to 20 baht per person), however this can add up over a period of time.
In summary, we are sure that during the high season, with the resort being fully operational, it would be a fantastic place to stay. However, during the low season, with the main pool closed, no pool bar service, 1 restaurant, dirty beaches with broken glass,
limited staff, no internet access whatsoever, no resort entertainment, limited food choice, poor breakfast options (unless stale corn flakes and rubber eggs are to your liking) and half the town being closed, don't bother !!
Please note that all our complaints have been based on our LOW SEASON stay and wish that we were informed by our travel agent prior to booking. Give it a go during high season only.
