it's my first time going to krabi and we want to stay in a place that is in the center which u can easily hop on a boat to go see other islands. we look in the area of aonang and there are hundreds of hotels......we end up staying at amandari because it's right in the center but not in the crowded area, 10 mins walk to the beach, tons of restaurants around and the hotel itself is very new!!!!! just open in october 2008. the room is modern , very clean, small but nice pool, staff is very friendly as they recommend all the nice tours, restuarants, and massage places. the price of the tour that they offer from the hotel is a lot cheaper than buying with street agency. the hotel size is perfect for what it is having about 100 rooms allow it to serve good fresh breakfast. we end up having a fabulous time there. we were going to stay for 5 days but ended up stay for 2 weeks!!!!!!

We had read one or two reviews about the Cha Da before we went and we were a little apprehensive. We need not have been. The hotel was beautifull although the business centre was not up and running and only the restaurant by the pool was open for lunch, dinner and breakfast. The gardens were all finished and were beautifully kept.
There were not many guests so we had the a-la-carte breakfast menu which was a bit limited but sufficient for the 4 in our party
We had a deluxe ocean view Emerald villa which was beautifull with a large balcony. All usual ameneties were catered for in the room. It was quiet a walk to town so we used the hotel shuttle which was 50bahts a person.
Because it was low season a lot of bars were closed so evening entertainment was limited. However, a word of praise must go to The Sanuk Bar . Nice food and drink and good conversation with locals and tourists alikeOn one occassion in the middle of a storm late at night the bar owner arranged for a friend to take us home.A restaurant which we thought was pretty good was The Seaview in Saladan town. The fish was very good and prices competetive.
We hired a car and went around the Island, there are some beautifull beaches and Im sure in high season it would be a great place to explore.
We went elephant riding in Koh Lanta National Park which was very good - not touristy, and travelled on the two ferries across to Ao-Nang
We had been to Krabi and stayed at the Krabi Tha iVillage a couple of years ago and it was still the same lovely place - thankfully it had not gone to commercialised. Overall we all enjoyed Koh Lanta , but a party place in low season it is not.
On closing, a word of mention must go to James - the duty manager in The Cha Da ,he was fantastic. Not only was he full of helpfull tips but he liazed with the airline who lost my case for five days and although we went on to stay at another hotel on Phuket for two more weeks James must get an A star for customer service.
I dont know what the Cha Da will be like in high season but we thoroughtly enjoyed our stay.

Cha da is a new resort and we went in low season but we were really surprised to find out that we were 4 people in the resort. They do advertise 5 restaurants, 2 pool bars but everything was closed. only the restaurant by the beach was half open. I do understand this is a low season but please advise clients about this on the web adress. Only 6 chairs by the pool. The pools are great. The back of the resort are the grand suites and this area was completely shut because of changing the air conditioning units. Also the area around the reception was under development with the gardens being replanted. The management in Bangkok obviously do not care the clients to be told about this in advance. The emerald visas are good but the bathrooms are a let down, dirty not finished well, lets say 2 star. We were upgraded to diamond villa. The villa is great but again the maintenance is below average. The outside thoilet is not a good idea and the private swimming pool was not very clean. The people are great and friendly but I really feel sorry about them because they have to deal with angry customers and the management is hidden in their offices in Bangkok. The same company owns Krabi Thai Village resort but probably they are paying more attention to their property in Krabi. Koh Lanta is developing island and I really hope Chada deals with all this problems because the resort has a great potential.
