“Not worth the money”
Reviewed 24 February 2014

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights for our honeymoon. We believe we got food poisoning from their restaurant. We're 90% sure it was from their meal and not somewhere else. It ruined the end our trip to the point we couldn't leave our room for 48 hours. When we told the hotel, they said they would comp us the thai beef salad that we thought was the culprit, which did not seem comparable!

The staff was very sweet but did not know how to run a hotel. The cleaning staff did a horrible job cleaning our room. They left dirty cups and trash in the room and cleaned our coffee cups using our bathroom towels. The soap and shampoo containers were never refilled upon cleaning as well.

Lastly, the beds were horrible. Super hard and gave us aches in our necks and shoulders. The location is good for those interested in a low key location and the beach on the property is nice. However, as a whole, it is not worth the price, which is actually on the high end for the island.

We are currently staying at this resort. The management and reception team have been very welcoming. Their team asked us our expected time of arrival so they could have our room prepared and ready. We thought that was a thoughtful gesture.
In our room, special touches were added, which we really appreciated, like a vase of tropical flowers and greens, a fruit plate decorated with a pretty flower, and aromatics with candles to make the romantic setting we desire. We give a 5 to them on these points and also say the cleaning staff is very accommodating to your needs and wishes.

The resort, itself is situated on one of the best locations possible, directly on Kiantiang beach (at the far end so you get the full sweeping panorama of beach every moment. )
Note: there are only 2 other small resort properties beach front...so low density , and with the added plus.....of not having to climb up and down steep hills, which all other vacationers have to do to get to the water. Plus, the ocean breezes have been so refreshing with waves lapping gently on shore...... easily heard from your door step. The only negative we see to this location is some rocks out in front of the property at low tide only but not a problem. If you walk just a few meters left , you can easily enter the water and swim. Lovely, sandy beach and sand bottom in the water.

All rooms at Pra Nang Lanta have great outside sitting spaces which we love. Hammocks, chairs, tables.
Beautiful, landscaped grounds and special touches like colorful lighting at night, cobblestone paths and waterfall/ponds by day make the surrounds of this place look like the tropical paradise it is.

And we like the fact that it is a small resort for intimacy and quiet. However, some times this peaceful atmosphere changes. Some times, there are guests who allow their children to run and scream all over the place, like their family are the only people staying here, making it a difficult place to relax and have peace, this is rude and should be discouraged by the management, especially because the property is small so there is no place to go, except to leave, when this happens. A few well placed signs and reminders to all guests that this property is designed for relaxation and peace and quiet. Courtesy to all guests in shared spaces of property please.

And also, the why not bar next door is sometimes problematic at night with their music. We feel the management should work on these 2 issues to help resolve these problems as the vast majority of guests come here a peaceful retreat. Nothing against families with well behaved children.
Final thoughts:
Breakfast here is good...
but the dinner service is lacking....not top notch. The night staff does not show much enthusiasm for welcoming you to dinner and the servers seldom remember to bring simple things you ask for. ...like napkins or butter. Not sure if they don't remember, are indifferent, laid back, or don't understand English well enough but something is definitely lacking both on timing and service. They don't come back to make sure things are right and that you have everything.
This is why I say this good place could be a great place with a little extra staff training, and maybe some discussion with the bars and rude guests to find a more suitable compromise for noise control.

Room Tip: Pick the left side near the why not bar if you like hearing the night music or into drinking...that...

I decided to book Phra Nang Lanta for my wedding destination 10 months ago. Since then, their work was great. I booked a Gold Package wedding for more flowers decoration at the wedding location. Phra Nang Lanta located right in front of the beach which they do wedding there and all rooms in Phra Nang Lanta are beachfront so it was very access for the bride to walk to the wedding venue from her room. They provide you with a wedding planner which will cater all of your request for your wedding decoration etc. For a bride who has so many requests they did a more than a well done job to cater my requests. We stayed in total 10 nights and all the staff was excellent. We stayed at Passion room which is far away from the Why Not Bar that at night we slept good without any noise from the karaoke in Why Not Bar. Ms. Pheng is the receptionist girl who speaks english. She and Mr. Mana the resort manager cater every little thing we asked them. We always ask taxi from them that i even have Mr. Mana mobile number that i can call so he can organized a taxi from where ever my husband and I were to pick us up. There was one time when we called him to organize a taxi to pick us up at almost 11pm and when the taxi show up Ms. Phung was with the driver and went inside to pick us up from where we were sitting ! It was very nice of them to do that for us! Their service was excellent!
The only downside is the TV. My husband had a fever for a few days after the wedding so we mostly in the room. We need TV the most to entertain ourselves that few days but the old tv that they have only have 3 channels: cartoon network, AXN, thai. They need to replace the old tv with a flat screen TV.
Other than the TV problem our stay was more than excellent and we will most definitely be back and highly recommend for everybody to stay here :-)!

Firstly let me get my one complaint out if the way...for such a quiet, mostly empty beach during the day..the noise from the 'why not bar' next door was a big of a disappointment at night...but at least it mostly finished around 01:00.
Otherwise..everything else just right. It's not 5 star glamour just comfortable, friendly and bang on a gorgeous beach. (My advice enter water and watch sunset in the middle of the beach for best views and best sand). Manager and staff super friendly and helpful, a real pleasure. Breakfast excellent, and great food served to you at the pool from the restaurant.
So far best place we've stayed this trip...and we've stayed in a few.

This was a mid priced beach stay in Krabi, the beach is stupendous and the hotel environs pleasant and clean (compared to the shabby Baan lanta next door). We stayed in a first floor apartment with a beachside view, it really was beautiful,'Clumsy me' successfully managed the hammock too. The rooms were clean enough, but facilities a bit dated (it's not claiming to be five star), but little things like fully topping up soap and shampoo should be an easy one to rectify. The TV (which we only turned on to drown out the karaoke ...more later) was about a foot and a half in width (again easy to update).
The staff (apart from the manager and one or two of the older girls) spoke or understood no English and actually were not smart enough to work out the most simple of requests.
All this being quite minor, after all we were in a fantastic location.. but the one really disappointing aspect of the location was the proximity to the WHY NOT bar, which blasted really bad karaoke through the late hours.
With regards to the breakfast, They do seem to run supplies down too soon, they do top up - if you can charade your way through explaining you want more hot water for tea etc...
Beware also of the 5am call to prayer from the local mosque.

In summary, we did like our little hacienda like hotel. It was clean and the grounds well maintained. The staff were friendly and always tried to help but a little commonsense and perhaps a smidgen more of English (or even French) might have made things easier.

Staffs always have a smile on their faces and willing to help. the rooms are spacious and designed in different themes, perfect for couples as well as families. I was fascinated with the privacy and quietness during my stay at Phra Nang Lanta. at night, bar-b-cue service is also available upon your demand. so it's very enjoyable for a large group of people to have a bar-b-cue party by the beach.
