It is in fact nothing to write because we were satisfied with everything - accommodation, service, food, location..We spent 6 nights in Sea Breeze Bungallow which was very spacious, modern and perfectly clean bungalow close to the sea. Concerning to the loacation - several km long beach in fact without any tourists, calm and clean. The staff in the hotel also without any criticism - smiling, helpful nice people either at reception or in the restaurant. We tried a lot of food from restaurant´s menu and it was always tasty & fresh. This hotel is very likely not for young party people because of the calm area but it is some 10 min by tuk tuk to the city where it is possible to enjoy a nightlife. But don´t expect anything like in Phuket or Pattaya:-) Ko Lanta is kind of hidden paradise still not discovered by mass of the tourists. Fortunately. I would definetly recommend this hotel to the families or couples searching relaxing vacation.

Room Tip: Book at least sea breeze bungallow

We stayed a week at Lanta Castaway. The rooms are clean and ok, but not great. As in mostly all hotels in Thailand the aircondition is too noisy. The staff is friendly but speeks poorly english.

The food was ok, but not more. Their speciality are TexMex dishes, so we tried fajitas once. It was just shallow, the guacamole even terrible.

Really strange is the boss' wife. Most of the time she was absent, but appeared twice. Then she made the whole staff insecure and nervous, was rude to guests and especially to children. Once she even turned off the beach showers water pipe. Why? To save money??

It is a nice location but could be runned more friendly. Really disappointing are the prohibition signs everywhere:
- no children at the bar
- beach shower for guests only
- beach mattress for guests only
- don't let the children run around the guest tables
- ...

There are more signs than on an italian highway!

The worst thing was the frog pond next to our bungalow; croaking and chatter all night long. How can you build a frog pond right next to your guest houses? How to come to this idea?

The resort is on a beautiful beach, has a nice beachbar and there are delicious restaurants next to it.

There are only four beach mattresses and only a few beach umbrellas and beach chairs. No problem off season, but I won't imagine high season at Castaway....

One last thing:
The dive crew is absolutely great, courteous and helpful!

We just returned from a great trip to Lanta. We stayed at Castaway for 3 nights with our 2 children (ages 5 & 7) in a two bedroom bungalow. The bungalow was spotless with great aircon, wifi and tvs in both rooms. It's so nice to find bungalows with 2 bedrooms so you don't have to sit in the dark when the kids go to sleep.

Each room had a little balcony with chairs. It was a 3 min walk to the beach, bar and reception area. The room decor is simple and the bathrooms are dated but the rooms a really good size and the resort is quiet. We slept very well every night. The cleaning staff did a fantastic job every morning tidying up the room. They did those little extras that I love when traveling like folding up the kids pjs and putting them at the end of the bed, creating little elephant towels, organizing the kids toys and shoes.

The beach in front of Castaway is absolutely perfect with young kids. There is a tidal pool that is like a small river that forms every morning and late afternoon. The kids played in it for hours. The waves are really gentle and the way the resort is located it's very easy to watch the kids from the lounge chairs and even the bar. The kids loved being able to be free to find crabs and play without us hovering over them.

We had really good food at the resort (mexican and spicy thai) and also had good meals nearby restaurants on the mainroad. We loved the free popcorn and cheap cocktails every night for happy hour. Unfortunately the nearby snorkeling trip to Koh Rok was sold out so book ahead if you want to do that.

We had very good meals at Patty's across the road and Red Snapper (great for us, too spicy for the kids) down the road. My only complaint about the hotel was that the woman in reception was not too informative and a bit unenthusiastic about the area. The rest of the staff was lovely. It was songkran and all the kids were running around spraying the staff with water and chasing them. What we loved most about Castaway was the small resort, laid back vibe and the great beach. Unlike staying at a big chain resort you really felt like you were someplace unique and special.

Be advised however that the transfer from Krabi airport is long (2.5 to 3 hrs) and pricy (2600 each way). No fault of the hotel...just be prepared with snacks for the kids and cash to pay.

We stayed at Castaway for a week, beginning of April. We loved the feel of the place, beautiful garden even more beautiful beach and very friendly and efficient staff. The bonus, is that you have the Padi dive shop in the hotel, so very convenient for divers. good value for money overall, we would stay there again any time.

Room Tip: 2 rooms bungalows with connecting doors, are perfect for families.

I know I'm another person raving about Castaway but there was nothing to criticize.

Good clean accommodation, GREAT Fun, excellent vibe and fabulous beach set up.
My husband and I stayed 2 nights and 3 days and were sad to leave. We stayed in the Sea view rooms, which had 2 queen beds and satellite TV (with english channels) and excellent A/C.

Koh Lanta has a relaxed atmosphere and is somewhere to chill out and relax.
Lots of diving and snorkeling opportunities. We did a day trip to Koh Rok Nok and it was the best coral we had seen in Thailand.

Something I didn't know was there is a 10THB/p landing fee when you arrive at the pier. Nothing terrible, just something to be aware of.

Lanta Castaway offered free transfer when we arrived and have free popcorn during happy hour. 120THB Cocktails!
We used their laundry service (60THB/kg) good easy service.

Planning to come back with the kids.
Great place to stop and recharge.

Room Tip: Don't bother with beach front room. Sea view rooms are just as close to beach bar area.

A good no nonsense 3-4 star resort at a great location with a wonderful beach. Rooms were fine and clean. Food was ok, cocktails super ! Service was quality and the dive shop was really good fun with highly qualified and happy dive instructors, who guided us to a whale shark :-).

Hands down one of the best places I've ever stayed. The rooms are incredibly clean and comfortable (daily maid service is included), the staff is very friendly and helpful, and the location can't be beat.
The bungalows (both ac and fan) are a good size; the fan rooms were very breezy and come with a mosquito net. They provide shampoo, soap, and other bath products.
The resort has a bar along the shore with nice wooden lounge chairs and tables on the deck as well as in the sand. They also have 'sun mattresses' for guests that are partly shaded underneath some trees, we were lucky enough to get one every day. The sunset from the bar area is vibrant and quite breathtaking.
