Stayed here for 5 nights as part of our honeymoon in July. We had booked the beach front bungalow, we had number 1 right in the centre beach front. It is easily the best bungalow on the whole beach IMO. Absolutely brilliant. The gardens are immaculate and look lovely huge amount of space. There are not too many bungalows and all are in a good position though. It was amazing lying in bed looking out on to the beach, one way glass!! Large patio doors to the front with a private patio/terrace area and also another shaded are to the side of the bungalow.
There was a separate little kitchen area with fridge, sink and wardrobe !! 2 free bottles of water every day. No restaurant at this place but lots of eateries close by,
All kept very clean and the surrounding beach are is swept and levelled every morning.
Try Jangs kitchen Thai restaurant next door they do the best Thai food ever, we ate here on about 3 occasions, just don’t ask for any English or European food ! they don’t do any !! Also good for a late night drink!

Room Tip: best ones are the 3 beachfront bungalows best sea view, but others only few steps from beach too

Located on the Haad Salad, close to great small restaurants, amazing sunset view, just on the beach with two terraces - our stay here could not have been better! We got very good price as well. The bungalows are simple - not luxurious - but clean and well kept. Just brilliant

Room Tip: Definitely go for beachfront bungalows - ours was N. 1

We stayed at one of the Beach front bungalows for a week and it was absolutely amazing! Had 2 balconies (1 shadowed and 1 sunny the most of the day) where we enjoyed sunbathing and our drinks. The room was very nice and had it cleaned every 2nd day.
The lady who runs the bungalows is so nice, helpful, polite and smiling always.
The beach was just OK, with the water not deep at all. For families with children, it is recommended... but if you explore a little bit the water, you will find a very nice small size ''pool'' where the water can go deep around 2-3 meters and you can enjoy some swimming.

However, if we go back to Koh Phangan, simply because we like swimming, we will definitely be at Ao Thong Nai Pan Noi.

Room Tip: Value for money

Bungalows are simple but very well-kept and clean. Beautiful setting in a spacious and secluded garden with direct beach access (much nicer than many other lower mid-range places we have seen). Staff are very friendly and attentive and care for their guests with a personal touch. Good selection of restaurants along the beach, just a few metres away.

I moved into Bungalow No.1 after enduring one uncomfortable night at the Sea Salad Resort (very poor 0 star rating). I stayed a total of 6 nights but wished it had been 7!
Bungalow No.1 offered pure beachfront accommodation with an ample sized balcony where we enjoyed sunset cocktails and beers. The room has an AC, is tiled throughout and has a small kitchen with a basin and fridge (no stovetop).
The grounds are spacious, dotted with palms and even has mango tree! The caretaker was very friendly and helpful.
Overall an amazing experience and a great place to unwind. Will definitely stay there again if in Haad Salad.

We stayed there in April 2014, what a great place! We had beachfront bungalow and the view from it is absolutely amazing!!! Our room was really tidy, we had 2 bottles of drinking water every day, air conditioner and shower worked well. Grounds are well looked after, sometimes we just hung out in the hammock in the garden, felt like a paradise.
Staff there was so nice, always smiling and helpful! One day we were getting ready to go for a ride when it started raining and the lady brought us two ponchos. This was so sweet :)
Will deco come back one day!!

Room Tip: Go for a sea view bungalow, the view is absolutely fantastic!

Much has been made of Panni and her husband who are, indeed, lovely caretakers of Asia Bungalows but they are not the owners as we soon discovered.

Whe we arrived after a long journey from the UK, we were told that the beachfront bungalow we booked and paid for in full seven months previously, was not available and we'd have to sleep in another bungalow on the first night. Having transitted in Koh Samui, we were keen to get settled but, it was also the principle of the thing.... I said that was unacceptable and poor Panni proceeded to have a couple of phone conversations with boss lady which didn't seem to be going too well. Eventually, I said that I wanted to speak with her where I got nothing but aggression. She kept saying "only one night" and "what you want me do?" I had already told her that I wanted a refund on the first night which eventually, she said she would give me but we would need to find other accommodation so, no compensation, whatsoever even tho we were paying 2,500 (£50) for the beachfront bungalow and the other bungalows would be at least 500 baht cheaper. I don't want to ruin my holiday fighting for this and so, boss lady gets off with it again.... Reading back on other reviews it would appear that this happens regularly with the beachfront bungalows of which there are three. And, it would seem that "only one night" was nothing compared with what some unlucky guests have had to put up with.

Needless to say this early experience soured our view of Asia Bungalows somewhat. The beachfront huts are in an amazing position on a beautiful beach and honestly, I cannot think of a better spot, particularly as there are great spots for eating and drinking within a few steps. The bungalows are basic/simple with no cute touches but they are clean and we appreciated the fridge and kettle. The bed cover is a strange silky curtain thing for each person. We had some cool weather and asked for a light duvet which is so much more comfortable.

There are no facilities such as pool, restaurant etc at Asia Bungalows which is actually rather lovely because the grounds are spacious and beautifully kept.

Haad Salad is a lovely spot and I would highly recommend it but for the money we paid for Asia Bungalow, if coming back, I would stay at Cookies or Salad Hut.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Asia Bungalow is located on idyllic Haad Salad, a pure white sand beach in a picture perfect bay with all the trappings of tropical island life. The beach is fringed with coconut palms and as Haad Salad is relatively undeveloped for Koh Phangan, it is usually deserted and so peaceful that you feel the beach is all yours. Crystal clear emerald green waters are home to a vibrant coral reef that lies just 80 metres from the shore and attracts both scuba divers and snorkeling enthusiasts to one of the Island's premier dive sites. The accommodation at Asia Bungalows is built and finished with a total of eight rooms, all equipped with all air condition, bathroom with hot and cold shower and Mini Bar. * Air-Con Room * Family Bungalow Air-Con * Superior Bungalow Air-Con As Asia Bungalows has just ten rooms, the family atmosphere is always friendly and intimate and all of the rooms make the most of their excellent beachfront location with stunning sunset sea views. There are five basic island style huts Asia Bungalows and four modern Thai-style villas. Each of the villas are newly built and finished to very high standards; with hot and cold shower, separate kitchen area, western bathroom and ceramic floors throughout. All of the rooms contain a double bed and a single bed can be added at a cost of 150 Baht per night. There are mosquito screens on the windows and the rooms and balconies are generously proportioned to ensure your complete comfort. The restaurant at Asia Bungalows is right on the central beach section of Haad Salad. It serves a vast range of speciality and local Thai dishes including excellent seafood and also provides a good selection of western food. Weather you are having a meal or taking a break from the beach with a cool refreshing fruit shake, you can rest assured that the taste will be as good as the surroundings. At Asia Bungalows there is more than enough to keep you occupied and all in a place where it is so easy to do nothing! There is volleyball, badminton, great swimming, snorkelling and even kayaking! A nearby minimart has all the bits and pieces you might need on your visit to Haad Salad and there is also motorbike hire, internet, international telephone and fax services available. Boat and fishing trips are easily booked and massages can be arranged either on your balcony or right on the beach. If you're looking for things to do and see around Haad Salad, the west coast of Koh Phangan has something for everyone. The rich coral reef that surrounds this side of the Island is a haven for marine life, making the region a hotspot for divers and snorkelling enthusiasts alike. Nearby Koh Ma is a small island just off the west coast of Koh Phangan and is the only National Marine Park within Phangan's waters. Here it possible to spot turtles, harmless reef sharks and swim amongst shoals of colourful tropical fish. The region is fairly mountainous away from the coast, and there are a number of mountain trails and walks to follow; and with the large concentration of beaches in the west, it is possible to beach hop up and down the coastline. Wang Sai waterfall is within walking distance and nearby Laem Son is a giant freshwater lake, shaded by tall pine trees with giant rope swings! ... more   less
