Do not go there, if you want to enjoy your Ko Phangan holidays.
We booked a superior room for 2 nights via internet. Once we came there, we had to pay in advance our entire stay before checking in. This should have already warned us, but we had no idea it could be so bad.
The superior room is described as a 36 square meters room. We found a small room with a dirty toilet. The room was for sure not bigger than 15 square meters.
The got only one towel per person, and the towels were really dirty.
The water in the bathroom was salty.
All our questions and complains were simply ignored or answered in a rough way with some absurd statements like "but it is 36 square meters" or "the water is salty cause it was raining"...
The restaurant had nice thai food, but since it is called "seafood", we expected some fresh seafood. However, the stuff at the restaurant was gentle.
There is not a beach of the hotel, but a piece of sand in front of the stairs leading to the hotel.
We run away from there as soon as we could. We actually took our luggages during the evening and moved to the next resort for our second night, even if this has been already payed in advance at Haadlad.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for one night when we arrived on Ko Phangan. We got a brochure on the pier offering rooms at a fraction of the cost (like a third the high season prices). Based on that, perfectly average. We would never consider staying here for the full price and I can understand why people would be disappointed if they did in fact pay the full listed price.

the hotel is well located and has a very nice beach. we took a superior room for 4 nights and it was spacious and clean. But to be honest, if you take a higher grade room this place is alot better which it beyond our budget. Good resturant for dining you can ask them for special fish, just tell them 1 day in advance.

Good things
- At reception you can find Computer+webcam+microphone(charge of course).
- Hotel located on beach no road between you and the beach.
- Friendly staff ( both hotel staff and area nearby)
- Good Thai food and nice BBQ fish.
- Many restaurants nearby.
- Extremly peaceful.

Bad things
- The road to access hotel is very steep.
- Don't have bath tub in our room type.
- Can't find Gym around there.

Summary:
We booked to stay by email to hotel to hope that we can get lower rate but after researched so hard we found the rate is very close to book by website( it's about 5-6% lower when you transfer money to the hotel inadvnce).
Anyway they got our email address,we will go back if they could give us some discount for return guest :-)

A real catalogue of disasters since the moment we checked in. The swimming pool was tiny, we didnt use it once. the beach front villa is not actually on the beach at all. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, there was some type of building work being done by the pool and a strong smell of sewage throughout the hotel. There is no real spa to speak of. The toilet didnt work when we arrived, though it did get fixed eventually, it was also pretty stained and dirty. The jacuzzi never worked though we did inform reception nothing was done. The white towels all had big yellow stains on them, the linen was pretty rough. The baby cot we requested didnt have a mattress, just a plank of wood with a duvet on top. At night there was some bird or animal that kept waking us up making a real racket which was heightened because of the bathroom having no ceiling. One night we came in and there was a big pile of sand and some giant dead insect lying in the shower - no idea where that came from. Load of dirty sheets had been left on our windowsill by some careless housekeeper. The safe is quite old and difficult to use.
Though the worst was probably walking down the steps to bungalow and having the first step break underneath us cutting our leg open. So glad I wasnt carrying my baby at the time! It took over a day for it to be fixed which meant jumping over the last step when coming in and out of the room. They did fix it eventually and replaced all the other steps too, however no apology was offered.
For the amount you pay it is definitely not worth it. One of the worst hotels I have stayed in.

With friends we make reservation on their website for 6 days staying in February 2010 (this is one of the most expensive hotels on the whole island). We rent 2 PRESTIGE SUPERIOR VILLAS and 1 VILLA PRESTIGE BEACHFRONT. We immediately had to pay 50% amount in advance (around 1000€) and for paying threw system paypal they charge us another 5% of provision because it is no other possibility to transfer money to them. We paid and were very happy to go.
Finally we arrived and they immediately told us: before everything you first have to pay the other half. That was a bit suspicious to us and we ask if we can see the rooms first and pack things, then we will come to reception to pay. Difficulty and after long persuasion they finally show us our villas. That what we saw was a total catastrophe (shame that we didn’t make pictures, but we were too much in shock). This private Villas were actually double room facilities for two couples and not for private placement like they are explaining on their website…but ok that is not so terrible…Jacuzzi on the terrace was totally disused and was not in use for a long time. You could see that on a big layer of dirt and crowd of bugs and ants in it. Also the deckchairs were in a stage of decompose. But real shock was coming when we saw inside of villas which were totally neglected (red spots of blood on the wall, ants all around, old smelly furniture…), bathroom was open so like extension of room, with pieces of broken glass all around the wall that nobody can climb into your room. We will not even explain how dirty the lavatory was. If you look at the wooden villa on the outside you saw the army of ants going their way on the building (ok I understand that this is nature there but at least hotel could prevent them to go inside this expensive villa).
This hotel does not have any beach in front; it is just like 1m high concrete wall and one meter of sand. The only palm tree, which is on all hotel pictures, is having barbed wire on. Swimming pool is only for children (please do not believe this magical pictures where swimming pool look huge). Also short look on their restaurant menu show that they are the most expensive (we saw that later when we went in other hotel).
When we try to explain to them that this is cheating of customers they starting to lie that they didn’t received any money from us and that we can go. Thankfully we had their-hotel payment confirmation (they send us when we paid) and we proof that they lie. Of course we know that they will not want to return us money, but they did not even allow us to stay there only for so long as we have already paid!! You can imagine what a disappointment for us was that after 24 hours in a plane and traveling to there. We were so exhausted and situation was so critical that we leave them this 1000€ of advance payment and went to look other hotel. From our side that was also the best move we could make, because we found on nearer beach HAAD YAO (great location) nice and beautiful hotel which was 80% cheaper (1200 BHT/night for villa) and 100% better!
Later we found out that on Koh Phanghan you can find everywhere much better accommodation for much less money! So stay away from hotel HAADLAD PRESTIGE

A nice hotel where we spent a great (long) stay!
I really appreciated having a sea view from anywhere in the resort: most of rooms or bungalows offers partial sea view and it’s a real pleasure to open the curtains on the morning. You are at the restaurant or at the swimming-pool, you also have sea view.
The staff is always friendly and helpful and the food is delicious (special mention for the Massaman who is to fall down ;))
The hotel is quite eccentric, so very quiet. It’s possible to find a little more life along the bay of Haad Salad; if not renting a motorbike can be useful.
I particularly enjoyed the pool treated with salt water which is less aggressive for eyes and in a general way; its size is acceptable.
The few negatives aspects that I have noted are the odors emanating from sewage from time to time, an overall appearance of the resort a bit too concreted, and the household, although done every day, is sometimes done in a hurry.
I wouldn’t say that Haadlad is a prestigious hotel, but fantastic holidays are quite possible there.

It is truely a good new experience in this peaceful resort, not too crowded like those located by the sea shore. The price of their foods is reasonable. The special thing is that most of the guests here are westurners. It doesn't look like I was in Asia at all. I guess there were only 2 or 3 rooms which were Asian people's. What I like the most is nobody was from my country, so I was free to do whatever I want to do.
