I would go back to Sandy Bay as they have the nicest bungalows, all facing the sea. The beach is very nice and the price for our simply but charming (all wood, cold shower) bungalow with 700 Baht was more than fair!
Big minus is the received attention from the staff. In the end we didnt even ate there anymore due to the unpleasant treatment. You constantly felt that you were disturbing them, no matter if in the restaurant or with the reception girls.
We chose to rent a motorbike with them, With the first one they gave us, the back light didn't work (fortunately we checked it before leaving). All of a sudden they had a second (newer) one (before they told us that onle one was available, the older one). The newer one had an almost flat tire, which we showed them. It was obviously flat but they said it is fine, no problem! When we refused to go. The girl started almost shouting at us, telling us that we could rent with someone else if it was not ok. The mechanic guy told us to come with him and filled the tire with air in one second. They simply didnt care if we could have an accident or ruining our day.
So my recomendation is: go and enjoy Sandy Bay, it is a nice place but eat and book services somewhere else. The food from High Life resort is good and the one at the right end of the beach (a little restaurant passing through the hotel, english owner and real thai cook!) are much better and there they treat you nice and with an hinest smile!!
To Sandy Bay:
you could make so much money changing your management. We would have liked to stay and eat more often. But in the end it is about feeling welcome, especially when you are on holiday!

Room Tip: 202, our bungalow!

we stayed 9 days here as we were diving with haad yao divers (great!) which was walking distance away. we had an older, fan w hot water room up on the hill, which was very enjoyable as we were out of the chaos, though the room was dirty and poorly maintained. however, the resort has overbuilt its accommodations for the rest of the facilities. restaurant couldn't handle the volume (and had TERRIBLE service), pool and deck areas overly crowded, as was the beach area. never enough chairs to go around. it is obvious the owners care more about maximising profits on one time only guests instead of caring about repeat business. overpriced for the room quality and facilities.

I highly recommend this place.Everything was good. The bingalow in which we were was right in front of the beach,it was essential, nothing special but you go there just for sleeping trust me!you are at few meters from the sea,you have quiet, nice view and spectacular beach!the food at the restaurant is very good. The only thing I did not like so much was the way that the owner treated us.She is not always nice.
But if you go to pangan this is your place above all if you have children

Stayed at Sandy Bay last August for four nights. We had an amazing time;staff are so friendly, food is great and reasonable, accommodation was fab (we did stay in Beachfront Bungalows), beach is beautiful and very quiet.

I would thoroughly recommend staying here....we didn't want to leave and I would definitely go back!

Room Tip: If your budget will stretch...go for the Beachfront Bungalows. We upgraded to them when we arrived!
