We had a terrible experience with the lady at the front desk as the room we were being given was not in the hotel as we had booked but down a muddy and flooded pathway across from the hotel, without security, service and seemingly other guests. Electricity wasn't on in the building and had to be switched on. Any contact with the unhelpful front desk involved a long, perilous walk through the unlit pathway (the staff member that showed me the room initially travelled by moped from the hotel, such was the distance). My requests to be moved into the hotel building (as there were rooms available but they had an extra bed and we would therefore have had to pay a significant excess) were stubbornly refused, as was a refund, a reduction in cost or any other compromise that was in any way satisfactory. Our host made gestures at me behind my back and was completely unwilling to show concern for our comfort, instead ensuring that she had as much money for as little effort and service as possible. The room was quite clean and a basic hotel standard but went unserviced for the three nights we were there. 'The Plaza' did not seem to exist although there were a number of empty premises within the main hotel building. Our building appeared to have been erected in somewhat of a rush and needed some repairs. We did not see a member of staff in the building again and our final communication with them was to drop our key off, to be met without so much as a grunt in response. The inhospitable host's animated gestures and incredible disregard for her guests actually made for a comical experience and needed to be treated as such if we were to tolerate staying there for the three nights!
