Beautiful place, basic accommodation but very clean. Food excellent and staff brilliant. Mostly Thai food. Stayed in bungalow one. Room air conditioned but shower Luke warm. But overall a pleasant stay. Bring plenty of repellant for Moskitos with you.

We stayed four nights in the beautiful beachfront bungalow which is the envy of all other guests..a lovely hut with air con, good shower, storage, washing line, hammock, outdoor seating and a standard double bed which I struggled with being 6ft4. Food was hit and miss...the curries, tempura squid, king prawns were exceptional and the various breakfast options disappointing.
I completely agree with the previous reviewer regarding the member of staff that was temperamental...quite funny to watch...had all the time in the world for the ladies...especially the older ones who reciprocated and even bought him gifts.. but very cold and dismissive towards males...I played on it all week... Odd boy. The staff struggled with interpreting our order on a number of occasions and we were served the wrong dish but just went with it.. I would suggest paying after each meal and many guests had discrepancies 3/4 days later...
The owner however, when on site, ensured a tight ship...liked him a lot..the boy behaved himself...cutting grass..catching coconuts..
Other than that a value for money bungalow in the perfect location...
I would strongly suggest visiting the dolphin bar soon to be renamed Siam house, do not be fooled by the same named bar next door. They kicked them out after 19years to fend for themselves...Kim and gait have recreated paradise round the back of the dreamland resort...I won't spoil it...get down there...

Stayed here for a couple of nights and the bungalows were lovely and great value for money. The beach isnt' as wonderful as I had been lead to believe - it wasn't great weather and the beach was nothing like you picture when you think thai islands!

The staff don't speak wonderful English but try their best and the food they serve is just delicious!!! So yummy - would recommend anyone to eat the garlic and pepper beef - lots of garlic but just delicious.

If the weather is bad then you will be fairly isloated as the road to get their from the ferry port is muddy and a little scary!!

Can't really add any more than what's already been said about this place. We really loved the location, on the quite side of the bay. The bungalow was clean, a good size and has a nice veranda, hammock and clothes line. The other bay is about a 20/30 minute walk if you fancy a more lively evening or want to look at the shops. There's a few bars and restaurants serving good food nearby long tail of you get bored of their restaurant. All food and drink goes on a tab that you pay every 3 days. I didn't mind the dogs, in fact I became quite fond of one which we christened "pig-dog". The ONLY reason I won't give it full stars is because of a certain member of staff who doesn't really bother with you unless your female. He seems to have erratic mood swings, don't take it personally I think he's just a bit odd.

We stayed here at the end of September at one of the bigger houses at the top of the hill. They have many different types of accommodations, starting right on the beach and going up a small hill. The staff is very friendly and although you have to be patient when communicating in English, they will help you out with whatever they can. Mr. Eh (A) was always there to take care of whatever we needed. The restaurant was one of the best on the beach. Check out the noname appetizers, massaman curry, and the breaded fried chicken dish. I don't recommend their cocktails or wine but everything else was pretty good. If you stay there they'll put everything on a tab and you can pay your entire bill when you check out. When we were there we say maybe 30 people on the whole beach, which was nice but keep in mind that during low season you might have a hard time getting enough people together to do tours, and trucks and taxis don't come around very often offering rides. It makes it harder to get around and do some of the cool things the island has to offer but the beach is so beautiful and chill there isn't much reason to leave.

first off its located on one of the most beautiful beaches in Ko Phangan. powder white sand, crystal clear water, surrounded by mountains, and not overcrowded at all. compared to some of the other resorts around they have better price, cleaner rooms, and better food at the restaurant. if visiting this beach on a budget or not, this is a good place to stay. the staff is very organized and focused. its seems like a family run place since all the staff seem to actually care about the resort. the real Gem is the beach. it is a top notch beach. beautiful, calm, and not crowded. i would definitely stay at longtail again if i go back!!!

Room Tip: the closer to the beach the better!

We spent 4 days here and at the most saw 10 people all day across the whole stretch of beach. It was absolute paradise. Pure white sands, blue seas and so quiet. As it was early September the weather was a little overcast at some points but mainly blue skies and still really hot, but it meant quieter beaches, and a small breeze so we liked it.

The beach huts are really cool, there's a verander with a hammock on the front, but inside is basic with a clean bathroom, a/c and a double bed.

The restaurant was amazing. It was perfect, fresh fruit breakfasts and a good mix of Thai and Western dishes. Everything was extremely fresh and delicious and it sits right on the beach. We couldn't believe how beautiful it was.

As everything is in Thailand, the cost of the food and the hut was so reasonable. We would definitely recommend staying here. We're not keen on busy touristy beaches so it was perfect for us.
