“Great find! Loved this place.”

We wanted something cheap but still nice and were not dissapointed. The resort offers comfortable accommodation at a no frills cost.
The bungalow was very nice and had a hammock for lazing on outside. The one negative I must say was the cleanliness, which could have been slightly better (used Cotton bud in bathroom!).
The restaurant is good and you literally eat and drink on the beach which is very chilled and nice.
The whole place has a really good feel to it to be honest.
One other bad point is the dogs that roam the beach, be careful around these!
Also, make sure you venture out at night to try the other beach bars which are also very nice.

We just left and we already miss the place. The owner of the place is so so welcoming and lovely and the local crew is the smiliest I've see in Thailand.
And that's not all, the food is remarkable, everything. Recommendations: go on the Thai food, it's the best you'll taste around where you are traveling.
Enjoy

After 4 nights in a 4 star resort on Koh Samui I have to say this place is DIVINE! And a tenth of the price. Simple yet comfortable and clean bungalows ( we had #1 right on the beach). Great food, friendly well loved dogs, beautiful beach, low key and quiet. Just superb. No - they don't service the rooms every day but that is made clear on their website and when you arrive. It's simple, and located right at the end of the beach. So - god forbid - you need to walk 50 metres to swim in deeper water. I sometimes wonder what sort of research people do before they arrive somewhere. We have loved every minute of our 3 days and wish it could be longer. Highly recommended if you want some quiet down time and a beautiful and peaceful setting. And we found the staff delightful - maybe you get what you give. We will be back!

We are a family of four from Ontario, Canada, with two boys ages 12 and 14. We spent a week at Longtail (with 3 other couples) in March 2014. We loved it. Laid back with great food and a friendly staff. It is located at the quiet end of a quiet beach. Very "family friendly", and we met a few other families travelling with younger children who loved the resort as well. During the hot season, I would recommend a bungalow with air-con. Bungalows are eclectic in design, but functional, clean with a nice deck on each one for relaxing. We stayed near the back of the resort (away from the water), which was still lovely (and less than 100 meters to the beach). We will be back!

We're currently staying in the Longtail Beach resort in the Boat House. As a family of five this is perfect for is as they have provided an extra mattress for our little one at no extra charge. The rooms are very clean and typical beach hut in style. However air con is available.

Due to a mix up with transport we caught a songthew from the port and went straight to the resort. It's a rather fast ride but you do see the most amazing scenery. The beach itself is amazing ( straight from a postcard) and I have a feeling that once the road is completely finished the larger hotels may move here which is a shame.

The staff here are extremely helpful and the menu offered I. The restaurant is huge. There are very good Western and Thai foods on offer- something for absolutely everyone gauranteed!

The hotel is right next to tropical rainforest so don't forget your bug spray!!

We stayed for three nights at this beautiful place. We wish we could have stayed much longer. The food was absolutely fabulous and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and kind and the water was warm and fabulous. The room was simple and basic and had a nice little porch with a hammock. We stayed at another hotel further down the beach for the remainder of our time but returned for the amazing food and also to arrange transportation back to the pier as the staff were helpful and accommodating!

Four stays so far and looking forward to the next one. Let me explain why:

The only con (but this can be seen as a pro):

It's not near Thong Sala or Haad Rin or anywhere. It's literally the last bungalows on the north east corner of the island. The road can be pretty challenging on a bike because you have to cross the mountain on an unsealed road. Taxi from the pier takes about 30 minutes and from memory is about 300 baht (cheaper if more people are going). I hear the road is being sealed so might be a smoother ride now.

Pros (where do I start):

Beach - White sands with heaps of beach depth. Very minor tides, no waves and low gradient. It's a cove so you can walk out 100 meters and still be standing. Swimming is like taking a warm bath. Sea kayaks and some jetskis available down the beach. Beach is about 1km long

Surroundings - The beach backs onto some beautiful Thai island jungle hills - makes for a great backdrop. Village with pharmacy, 7-11, tattooist, a few bars/restaurants and motorbike hire (take the beach, not the road) - about a 10 minute walk.

Nightlife - This is definitely not party central but still entertains. Longtail closes the restaurant about 9:00 and is a really pleasant place to dine. If you want to try something different, you can take a stroll down the beach and grab a feed at one of maybe 10 restaurants with a beautiful selection including fresh seafood. If you want to kick on, there are some bars that kick on with you. There's always some travelers looking to meet some new people - Ye bar is a good one with nice cocktails and a fire twirling show.

Rooms - A bed, a shower/toilet, mosquito net, fan (AC optional) and the all important balcony with a hammock to chill the day away with a book. It's no frills but frills wouldn't be right at this place.

Food - Hands down, the most consistently delicious food I've had in Thailand. The limited western food they serve is crap but why would you bother? Just fantastic, wholesome Thai food. They also serve beers right through to cocktails with fresh ingredients - yum!

Vibe - Even if all of the above was terrible, this one thing would bring me back over and over again. Longtail is the sort of place where you can forget what date it is, or even what time it is for that matter. Life just slows down and you shake off all the tension - be it from a long trip around asia, or just a busy work schedule. All this tension disappears when you check in and sit back. Recommend staying for at least 4 or 5 days so you can fully recharge those batteries.

This place has been a sanctuary for me and I hope you find the same.

Michael

Ps. Have stayed with a group, a mate, another couple and for my honeymoon. Had fun everytime.
