I stayed here over the xmas/nye period and had a great time.

Like the other reviews, the staff here are what make it. Cannot do enough for you. Pick you up from the pier, arranged travel/events/excursions.

I spent a couple of nights just sat at the bar chatting with the staff till the wee small hours and had a great time.

Rooms are all nice, the food is good, the private beach is lovely.Really worth a visit.

Pink, Akky, Jo jo, Sumo and another lady who I forger her name (sorry!) will be your friends all week. Great place!

James

I was travelling with 2 friends at end of 2010 and we booked into a place called Phrueksa a little further down the beach. After one night in the other place we had to move, it was so horrendous. We visited every place along this stretch of beach and Dakanda was the best by far. Great value for money, staff were just so lovely and helpful, they offered us a great deal on a room which was simply beautiful. The room was cleaned daily with fresh towels. The restaurant was really nice and we were offered amazing fresh seafood as well as being included in their Loi Krathong celebrations. Pool was lovely, clean and quiet when we were there. The staff even went out of their way when we left and stupidly forgot to take our passports - they sent a driver down to the ferry to make sure we had them before it left. The staff also drove to a couple of out of the way places and picked us up at no extra charge. I can't recommend this place enough. I can't believe we could afford to stay somewhere with this service and style - usually would expect to pay a lot more. Plus it is right on the beach!

Room Tip: The beach view room is amazing if you can afford to splash out a bit. All rooms are max 2 minutes...

Good size cottages with their own large balconies and under the stars showering, but fairly basic fare. Beds are like sandstone, TV's small and limited in choice. Mosquitos will bug you. That said, the staff can't do enough for you! Recommend you get them to go to the local fisherman and get you a lobster which they will cook for you for not much baht at all.

Nice pool centrally located in the resort, with the restraunt beach side. The beach is tidal with interesting walk at low tide.

Room Tip: The closer the beach the better.

Myself and my partner stayed here for four night whilst travelling around thailand for three weeks, our reason for staying here was to access the Full Moon Party. We were picked up at the pier by the resort for free which was a welcome service, however when we turned up at the resortwe were very shocked. We pulled upa t what can only be described as a building site, the resort aparently only opened in December 2010 and they are still building the reception area...so as you enter you are literally greeted by a building site. Once you walk through this there are around 20 little villas that lead down to a pool and bar/restaurant. As the reception is still being built the reception currently sits in the bar/restaurant area. The check in was quick, and we had to leave a 500baht deposit for the room - the only place in thailand we had to do this. The villa was average standard, but had THE MOST uncomfortable bed i have ever slept on in my life!! The bathroom is half outside which is an experience, I hate bugs and creepy crawlies, but was not bothered by a single one whilst in the bathroom to my relief!! The shower was not very powerful, and when you started the water running it had a very funny smell to it. The resort is around a 5 minute walk from Thongsala which is the pier area and has a few bars and restaurants. As it was low season finding somewhere which was open was a difficult task. We ate at a place called Harp Bar right opposite the pier, and the food was lovely. The pool was small, and the water didnt smell as clean as it had in the other resorts we stayed at, it was hard to tell with the colour of the tiles but it did seem to have a green tinge to it. The beach the resort sits on is very lovely and is probably the biggest plus for the resort. Generally the stay was ok, it was a cheap hotel so we were not expecting too much, however when we tried checking out at around 6.30am in the morning to get our ferry we were greeted by repeated rudeness by two members of staff. They repeatedly and very rudely asked us why we had not checked out the night before, despite never telling us that we would have to do this at any point during our stay.

You get your own personal cottage like room. Good size. Very clean. Breakfast included. We loved it. They were doing construction on the pool area so we only stayed one night. We really needed that dip in the pool after a long day in the sun. But we would stay there again in the future.

Nice spacious rooms, green territory. Helpfull staff. Some rooms were being renovated. Ban Tai is not the best beach on the island, however worth spending couple of nights. Very close to Thong Sala.

We absolutely loved our stay at Da Kanda! We are in our early 20’s and were there for 7 nights around the new years eve full moon party on ko Phangan. The staff were amazing! They were so friendly and helpful and they were always willing to answer our questions, make recommendations and regularly checked up on how we were doing. While we were there another guest had had a bad fall off a scooter and the hotel staff cleaned and dressed her wounds regularly- I think this just shows what a friendly, helpful bunch they really were.

The rooms were really nice and very clean. The pool was great also and the location right on a really nice stretch of beach was unbeatable. Lying on the deck by the pool & looking out over the water was priceless. It was a peaceful location yet only a few minutes walk into Thongsala which was great. Thongsala had great shopping and lots of yummy food places, the night markets (just a 1 minute walk from resort) are a must see. We also found it no trouble getting a tuk tuk into the full moon party, this only took about 15minutes and usually cost 100B each which we thought wasn’t bad at all. It was even quicker to get to the half moon party. The hotel staff were happy to organise for a tuk tuk to pick us up but they also regularly drove passed the resort. We loved the location and would definitely stay there again if we were going to the full moon party- it is nice to be able to get out of the hussle.

The food at the resort was delicious and very well priced, not resort pricing at all! We ended up eating there lots of times and thoroughly recommend the beach BBQ’s! These were fantastic, tables and chairs were set out on the sand with fairy lights. You picked out what type of fresh seafood you would like from a display and they cook it up for you in delicious spices/sauces, and once again this was also very well priced. The BBQ’s attracted many people from other resorts also.

We would 100% recommend Da Kanda to anyone and would certainly stay there again in a heart beat. We have stayed at a total of 4 resorts in Thailand so far around Ko Samui, Ko Phangan, Phi Phi Island and phuket and Da Kanda was my favourite!!
