Reviewed 25 April 2014

We booked Lime n Soda for our stay on Ko Phangan. The hotel came and picked us up from the pier for free which was very nice. Once we arrived to the hotel we were able to check in early another great aspect for us. We booked a standard room with a fan. The first room they put us in was fine but shortly after being in the room the electricity would not work. We waited outside while they tried to fix it but no luck. We were moved into another bungalow type room. This room in my opinion wasn’t as nice as the other but at least the fan worked. The previous room also had a mosquito net for the bed so we asked if we could take it from the room and put it in our new room because there was not one inside. The hotel staff agreed so we were fine.
We ate lunch at the hotel and the next morning ate breakfast but after glancing over the prices and walking to town we found better options that were much cheaper. The food was good at the hotel but a little pricey for us. If you get a chance go to the Street Market it is located down from Tesco and you can get some really good deals on food. 40 THB for Chicken Pad Thai that tasted amazing! You can’t beat that price! Also, there was a Walking Street Market on Saturday closer to the hotel located in town. This is really fun to experience so I recommend going if you are there on a Saturday.

You really do not need to rent a bike if you are only exploring the town nearest to the hotel. However, we decided to explore more of Ko Phangan and rented a bike. We checked with the hotel since they offer bike rentals but they required to hold passport and if you didn’t want them to take your passport it was a 15,000 THB deposit (YIKES). We did some research and found this place called Kate Rentals located in town. We walked to this place from the hotel and found we could leave a drivers license and only a 5,000 THB deposit. You can’t beat that! We took pictures of the bike to be on the safe side but honestly, these guys don’t seem the kind to cheat you over small scratches. When it came to return our bike no problem they glanced over the bike and returned everything. I would recommend renting from this company!

The pool at Lime n Soda was nice however, the beach was not so nice. We maybe went there once but never actually got in the water and there wasn’t much sand. Better to stick with the pool and rent a bike to travel to some of the other beaches on the island. Overall, it was a nice time at Lime n Soda. Fan rooms are ok they do get a bit sticky but there isn’t much to do if you choose a fan room.

Thank you very much for a very detailed review. All comments are noted and appreciated.Part of a holiday is exploring the region so am glad to hear that you got to do that and that it all worked out for you. Also that you got to experience some of the local markets and festivals and food.It is the hottest time of the year now so an aircon does make a big difference.Thank you again.

stayed in lime n soda back in october/november 2011 and really loved it. such good value for money and the location was perfect. and the pool and views were a boon. not too far from everything but was good not to be caught up in the mad party scene all the time. perfect for families and couples and the food was sooo good, we had lots of barbies too. thanks to all the staff and natasha xx

What a pleasant surprise! Rooms were clean, beach was great for our kids, restaurant served good food and an affordable breakfast buffet. What really set this place apart though was the staff. Koko at the front desk and Kai in the restaurant were awesome! We hope to come back! Great for kids!

Myself and gf stayed here for a week in one of the aircon rooms right next to the bar.I really loved the lay out of lime n soda and felt immediately relaxed.Theres a great view of the sea, a nice little pool and plenty of seating to chill out aswell around the place. Its in a good location and only takes 10 minutes to get back to the town area walking via the roads.Even quicker if you just go straight along the beach back to the pier area. You dont need to get a taxi so dont bother if your staying there and have just got off the boat!We tried many different places to eat nearby which were good.Try the beach lounge which is literally 1 minute along from lime n soda by walking on the beach. The food at lime n soda was fair to pretty good. The pizza was the best thing we had there which we enjoyed one night. We tried a couple of the specials they do from day to day such as the chicken burger. It was ok but came with a strange amount of chips..say 6..with one strategically placed ontop of the bun??The specials are usually only say 10 bht off the usual price,so not always worth going for it.The thai food there was good such as the curries,so id say stick with that if your not having a pizza!.The service in the restaurant was on the whole pretty good for thailand. Most staff always greet you and have the smiles ready etc.Although some days were hit and miss with trying to get someones attention.A couple of times i had to go up to groups of staff talking amongst themselves to ask for a menu. Also i was annoyed sometimes at the eagerness of taking away plates from the table while trying to eat. This happened a couple of times.Even with a mouthful of food and plenty of food on my plate with knife and fork resting either side mid conversation i was asked if i was finished. It was beyond obvious that i hadnt.
Id say the bar staff and garden staff were the best and friendliest. They were always cheery and ready for a laugh.A good bunch of guys.Good place to hang out and take it all in.They make very good cocktails so give them a try!I feel they could maybe change the music up a bit.Although i liked that style of 70s and 80s,after 7 nights it can wear a little with same songs and sometimes in the restaurant area in the day it was way too loud.I know alot of people have mentioned the member of staff Kai.Honestly and personally for us we found her a little over bearing around the place.I suppose it depends what style you prefer.I found her topic of conversation literally five minutes having arrived and sat having a drink a little inappropriate and made us feel uncomfortable.I feel there were far more GENUINELY friendly warm hearted members of staff whos style i preffered while staying there. Many will disagree im sure, but then im sure there are others who know what i mean.Theres a fine line between being friendly yet professional and being too over familiar. We would like to thank Phyo for helping sort our stay at Lime n Soda when we decided to stay longer. He was very helpful.I hope ive been fair in my review. We did really like lime n soda and would recommend it for anyone visiting the island.Cheers :)

Thank you for a very fair and detailed review. We appreciate all the detail. It gives us a good incite into what guests find important.I am really happy that you felt relaxed and were able to enjoy your stay and especially enjoyed the pizza.Yes since we are so close to the little town centre it makes a lot of things easily accessible and am glad you were able to experience some of the local markets and cuisine of Thailand.

Me and 4 other mates stayed here for 4 nights for the Full moon party and i loved this place! the whole vibe of the place was awesome and what made it more inviting was when we were there the staff interacted with the guests i a few games like 4 guests Vs 4 staff in beach volley ball and we all had a laugh and they gave us shot after the game which was good ! the food here was amazing
the best was the Bangers and mash ! best sausages and gravy i have ever tried so thats a must try ! If you are going to stay here i would advise getting an aircon room as the fan only rooms were pretty hot inside ! I will definitely be staying here again and cant wait to !! thanks to all the staff for a pleasurable experience

Room Tip: Any rooms with aircon :)

The full moon party is quite a famous event on Koh Phangan so am glad to hear you were here to experience it and hopefully enjoyed it.Holidays should be filled with activities and memories so I hope we managed to be part of forming some unforgettable Thai holiday memories.The. Chef will be pleased to hear that you enjoyed the food. This is really the hottest time of the year in Thailand so yes, if your budget allows for an aircon room it is certainly recommended.Thank you for a lovely review and do hope to see you again.

My friend and I travelled for a month in Thailand and ended our trip at lime and soda. We couldn't be more happy here. We spent 6 nights and enjoyed how clean and friendly the environment was. Perfect for backpackers who need some a home base for a while. Kai from Burma is the kindest human being and we are so lucky to have met her. She makes lime and soda even better by her beautiful smile and her way of getting to know everyone here. We wish her the best of luck and hope to see her again! We will recommend lime and soda to anyone travelling to koh phangan.
