“Great place and would definitely stay here again”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 June 2011

We only had two nights in Koh Pha Ngan and after much deliberation and searching we chose this resort as we did not want to stay down in the main beach area.

We booked a package which included transfers, breakfast, 2 x 30min massages and free 30min kayak hire.

We booked one of the hotel rooms and it was lovely with views of the water from our room/balcony. After spending a few crazy days diving in Koh Tao this was definitely the place to relax. The staff were friendly and the resort is quite large with various meal options during the day.
The pool is good and nice to spend an afternoon relaxing, viewing the ocean and drinking cocktails (especially during happy hour).
Whilst we were there their was a 40% discount on all spa packages/treatments so we booked in massages and the experience was amazing.

The only thing I felt could be improved was the pick up times from the pier.. we had the option of waiting 90mins for a pick up that was included in our booking or pay for a taxi. We waited around for our pick up but Thong Sala Pier is not the nicest place to be waiting around. It would be good if the resort could meet all ferry arrivals (as I don't think they are many each day)

If you are looking for a place to relax away from all the action this is the place to go but I feel after a few days of isolation you may be a little bored. It was 1500baht for a long boat to the main beach..

As a part of our honeymoon, we were looking for a romantic and a quiet resort near the beach, panviman was a best choice.
we stayed in the hotel section. (not a vila), and it was the best, the view from our room was absolutely amazing (we could see the sea from the bath room), we had a hugh balcony with amazing view and a quiet large room with well equipped mini bar and quite cheap as well (60 baht for a singha). the pool is amazing with beautiful view of the ocean and we just sat there all day drinking cocktails and looking at the sea...
the food at the restaurant near the beach is amazing and not so expensive- best tom yam soup we ate during the trip, the alcohol prices are ok and the crew is really nice and welcoming.
panviman was one of the bests places we have been at and we recommend you to go there if you are looking for quiet and romance :), the only bad thing we can say is that the hotel is quiet far from main beach and parties, (had rin beach) and if you want to get away so a taxi ride will be quite expensive (at least 800 baht) and quite uncomfortable, so consider it while staying, altho the village is 5 minutes walk and have few restaurants, massages and internet places. and one more thing is that for a quiet big resort, there is only one computer with internet that opens only from 09:00-18:00 and is quite occupied most of the day, so i think panviman can add 2-3 more computers and then it will be just perfect.
we took a boat trip from a french guy on the beach and it was really cool...
in short- best place in thong nai pan noi!!!

The panviman is set in a great spot over looking two wonderful beaches served nice meals and the staff were great. Our bungalow was was great with private sun terrace and breathtaking views at sunset ( but take the buggy up or down if you do not like hill walking) overall great value for money and plenty of opportunities for early nights as everything shuts down at 22:30

We spent 8 nights at the Panviman Resort and had a perfect holiday. The service was fantastic and very friendly. The hotel provided transfer from Koh Samui airport to the hotel which went very smoothly and was efficient. We had booked 2 deluxe cottages for our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children 9-18). The cottages were on a hillside with fantastic views out to sea, they were spacious and had lovely bathrooms with huge picture windows.
Because of the location of the hotel on a hillside, there were some very steep paths to some of the cottages and steep steps to the beach so it may not be suitable for family's with young children but the hotel were happy to drive people up to their cottages at any time.

This was a beautiful place to stay, we stayed in a delux cottage and it had a great view of the beach. The room was big and the bathroom had a great view also. However, it is up a big hill, so there is a lot of walking to and from your room each time, but the resort offers a free taxi service to and from your room within the resort if you wish. The staff were really friendly and helpful and made us feel pretty special. I would definately recommend this place to a friend. We went to the full moon party and had no issues in getting there and back on a speed boat. Its not a place to go for singles who want to party, its more of a couple and family friendly resort. The swimming pool is great.

The Panviman Resort appears to have been designed and built by Fred Flintstone after a 48 hour drinking session with Barney Rubble. The resort is on the edge of a cliff which means it is highly unsuitable for young children or anyone who has issues walking up extremely steep hills and steps. Upon arrival we were taken to our room and were immediately hit by the smell of damp which they tried to mask with an oil burner. We asked to change rooms straight away and were moved to a smaller slightly less smelly room. It was at this point I realised I had made a big mistake in booking here. The hotel is old fashioned, shabby and in dire need of a huge re-furbishment. Their website is hugely misleading. The breakfast is mundane, nothing changes and the quality of the food is poor. Don’t touch any of the meats unless you enjoy a good chew. After a couple of days you may well favour a lie in instead! Room service closes at the same time as the restaurant which is my view it totally pointless. The pathways around the hotel are treacherous, the hotel is built into a cliff and there no railings at some points with sheer, 10 metre drops onto rocks. The Fitness centre is by no means a gym it is in fact an outdoor kiddies play area. The pool area is nice but gets no sun after 3pm. They forgot to book our transfer back to Koh Samui which was a blessing in disguise as we booked our own transport for 1100 baht rather than the 2500 baht that the Panviman wanted to charge us. I filled in a customer survey whilst we were staying there and this resulted in us being given a wide berth by most staff. They did not take the time to speak to us about the issues we had raised. I was so disappointed with this hotel and its’ facilities, I would strongly advise against staying at The Panviman Resort.

We stayed for 8 nights and overall had an enjoyable time in this bay. A bit tricky to get there after hours. Figure 45 mins + 1500 BHT from Had Rin (4WD needed as road is under construction!). We did not use their spa. On the positive side: We had a deluxe room which was 100% clean and up to standards. Good matrasses. Nie balkony with stunning view (bring moscito repellent). Nice bathroom. Every day, cleaning staff surprised with a new "animal" on the bed made of towels. On the negative side: own discotheque which is cooled down like a fridge and has no charm, no free wifi internet, rushed average breakfast, overpriced restaurant (better go down to the beach or town), many details within resport appear either worn-out or not yet ready... Concluding: okay but too costly for Thailand compared to what is around for same money.
