i have stayed 5 or 6 times and loved it every time.

the best rooms are the deluxe cottages or the presidential suite. the pool is amazing and the service fabulous

make sure that you go and spend some time on the beaches of yai and noi. And don't miss Flip Flop bar on Yai.

highly recommended

I stayed at the Panviman Resort on koh Pha Ngan at the beginning of June 2012. I'd spent the previous fortnight touring Borneo and needed a place to relax for a few days after the exertions of climbing mountains, staying in jungle lodges, local travel, and all those early morning starts. The Panviman was a perfect choice.
The resort's car met me at Samui airport and took me to the 10 minute drive to the pier. I had a short wait in a coffee bar before the Panviman speedboat was ready for th 40 minute trip direct to the resort itself. The path from the pier up to the reception area is steep, but the resort has a tuktuk taxi to save you the walk.
Reception is the kind of place where you are offered a light refreshment and a cool towl while you check-in and then on to your room. My goodness, what a perfect place I had! My own swimming pool, jacuzi, beautifully prepared room with traditional furnishings, huge bathroom - TV carried international channels (BBC) and wifi was all over the resort.
There is a huge swimmiing for a morning swim, a bar restaurant area near the pool with a great view, a breakfast area with a buffet that will cater for you whatever your tastes, and finally Panviman has its own beach and associated beach bar.
The atmosphere is extremely relaxed and laid back - this is a place to chill out rather than party hard. The staff are wonderfully welcoming and friendly and the resort seems efficiently run.
Around Panviman there is a small village a few metres along the beach which offers quite a few local style restaurants and bars - the sort of low impact tourism that some areas in Thailand do so well.
So, if what you are looking for is an immaculate, high grade, locally styled, hideaway ideal for your holiday then Panviman Koh Pha Ngan is probably one of the best choices you could make.

This was our second hotel from our trip to Thailand. For having the most basic room we have been very happy with the sea view, HUGE bath tub and great service. Some highlights of our stay include: great beach BBQ, lovely spa day, great service and great views. It was a bit far from the pier for the ferry and sadly it rained most of our stay. We still have had a fan time! We would recommend for sure- book on agoda though- way cheaper than through the hotel! We had to stay an extra night because the ferry to koh Tao was sold out and had to book an extra night. The hotel wanted to charge 4200baht but we booked on their computer through agoda for 2900baht. Enjoy!!

While staying on the Tongsala side of Koh Phangan, we explored the island and visited Thong Nai Pan. Two stunning bays with lovely white sand and good for swimming and snorkelling.

The road from Tongsala to Thong Nai Pan is fine, apart from the stretch in the middle of the island - through the "jungle". Sandy road is a bit rough for travelling by scooter, would suggest rather hiring a jeep if you are not a seasoned bike driver and would like to explore.

Panviman resort is absolute bliss. We stayed in a lovely Pool Villa with a stunning view of the bay. Our little nest had a fantastic pool + jaccuzi, a lovley huge room and bathroom with beautiful quality finishes. The bed is gigantic and very cosy. Breakfast was great & what a lovely view to go with that! Loved the fresh coffee!

Do enroll for a cooking class - for only THB900 you get to pick a starter and main dish for training & enjoy the lunch afterwards! The Sous Chef and Food and Beverage Manager were really great tutors and I wish I had time for more Cooking Lessons.

The hotel offers a lovely Seafood BBQ each night at their Stone Beach Restaurant - and the live music makes it very worth the while! Fantastic atmosphere - and the restaurant is very popular with visitors from surrounding resorts.

Apart from the great facilities and setting, the staff were really friendly and helpful. We will most certainly be back for a longer stay in the very near future.

Five years ago the Panviman was a very pleasant Hotel with a great Staff. Over the years its all about making money. I was shocked when I saw how they built castle like pool villas in the rocks without any thai charme. The chairs of the main pool are totally worn down and lots of weeks old leaves lying around. They have added lots of new plastik chairs down at the mini beach which is totally crowded now and at high tide without any space. But the brand new rocks villas really kill the atmosphere. Way overpriced and not very welcoming.

I read several negative reviews before our arrival and was a bit worried. Yet, everything turned out to be just great: wonderful, big deluxe cottage with absolute amazing view; gorgeous pool area with a breathtaking view of the opposite beach; good food, great sea food buffet at night with very reasonable prices; very clean; nice spa and good quality treatments; beautiful beaches; staff very helpful and just lovely and very attentive to our little daughter. All in all, you really get a lot for your money here.

The only negative things were the construction work at the beach, the new concrete bungalows that really look awful and that some of the staff barely speak English.

Anyways, we loved our stay and will be back!

My wife and i just stayed here for 3 nights of our honeymoon and to put it lightly i wasn't the least bit impressed!

Lets start with good side of the hotel:
1.It is in a wonderful location on the top of a hill with a beautiful view of 2 gorgeous bays.
2. It has an amazing 4 tiered pool that has water flowing from one pool to another; it's very relaxing.
3. There are so many good restaurants nearby that makes dining everyday a pleasure - Jip's Bamboo Hut is Amazing!

Now the negative side:
1. Despite advising them it was our honeymoon via email prior to arriving and asking for a transfer to be arranged to which they responded we did not even get a congratulations on arrival - every other hotel had congratulated us (this is a minor point but all other hotels had made the effort)
2. The transfer was arranged for us however if we wanted to pay and take the hotel transfer we had to wait 2 hours at the pier for the next ferry to arrive as they only wanted to make one transfer that day. - We got a private taxi for the same price that left as soon as we requested.
3a. Service... what is service... this is a good question you should ask at this hotel as there isn't any. Down by the beach or the pool lying on their day beds with the bar not far away the staff just sit and talk to each other. If you want a drink you need to go up to the bar to order one and then it takes 15mins for the drinks to be bought over to you and if you would like another drink then you must repeat the process.
b. While I sat enjoying the breakfast spread I thought yes, i would like a coffee with my breakfast and looked around the venue for the staff only to find that all 4 of them were talking to each other outside the restaurant, completely ignoring the fact that guests are in the restaurant. So after 15 minutes with none of the staff returning I went outside the restaurant and asked one of them for a coffee which they kindly got me (also different to what i asked for); they then went and sat back outside. This process was repeated by most guests who were having breakfast and wanting a coffee.

4. Hygiene - whilst the staff were sitting outside having their conversation these little black birds with yellow beaks had flown into the restaurant and were helping themselves to the bacon, fruit and anything else that was uncovered. This to me is disgusting and unacceptable by any standard and all avoidable had the staff been in the restaurant.

Overall there are so many other places in the area to stay for the same price if not cheaper that would provide a much more satisfying experience with staff who actually made an effort to make your stay enjoyable.

Stay here if you wish but don't be surprised when you leave extremely disappointed.
