We stayed in a family bungalow and this was the nicest hotel on our 4wk trip in Thailand. The bugnalow was located on the steep mountain and was overlooking Thong Nai pan yai bay. You have a balcony with a bathtub outside, on the groundfloor there's the master bedroom and bathroom and you go the stairs down to another bedroom (the kids stayed here). The view is absoluteley fantastic.

Staff is really helpful, and if you have a room far from where you want to go just call the reception and they come pick you up with the little electric carts (they're quick). The breakfast room has a great view as well and the pool is just a blast.

Overall fully recommended, although a bit on the pricey side (by far the most expensive hotel on our trip) - see if you can go offseason or get a special offer. But then it's worth every penny.

PS: we were not convinced by the restaurant near the pool. you have cheaper and better options in the town - just ask for a ride with the hotel carts - they drop you in the village as well.

We stayed at the Panviman hotel in june 2013. It is a great place for some serious relaxing and not to worry about anything! Room had a breathtaking view of the bay and the service of the staff, especially mr Zahid, was excellent! Highly recommended!

The panviman is an incredible hotel with lovely staff and beautiful rooms. We stayed here for 2 days during my birthday and everyone went out of their way to make it extra special. The massages at the spa were the best we've ever had and the food both at the pool deck bar and at the main retaurant was delicious. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

This was the 3rd and last stop of our Honeymoon after Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Samui so we were really looking forward to our last week being totally tranquil and relaxing. Well this resort didn't disappoint in any way. Having been picked up by private speedboat from Samui and taken to the resort's own jetty, we were greeted by a tuk tuk that took us up to the main hotel reception. We were greeted by friendly staff and cups of cold grape juice that was delicious. After sorting the paperwork, we were taken, again by tuk tuk, to our room which was simply stunning. Built on to an actual rock that was the backdrop of the room, we were taken aback at the size and uniqueness of the room. With a balcony and views of the bay, it just didn't get any better. Even the bathroom had a huge window overlooking the bay which was a wonderful way to shower! The only thing I would say negatively is that the bed was very uncomfortable.

As the resort is built on the rocks, it is naturally a staggered resort which worried me at first as our room was one of the furthest & highest out. However, at any time of the day you could call for a tuk tuk and they'd take you anywhere you wanted, including down to the old village. It was excellent!

About 10 mins after starting to unpack, my husband asked me if I'd picked up his Armani watch and a bracelet that he'd kept in the safe at the last resort we'd stayed at. I hadn't. Panic set in as that bracelet had been my late father's who passed away only 7 months ago. Upon calling reception and explaining the situation, I was told 'don't worry, leave it with me' of which we did, and a couple of hours later, went to reception to see if they'd heard anything from the other resort... We were stunned and delighted that they'd gone back to Samui and collected the items for us and had them waiting safely for us!! That was way above and beyond and we are forever grateful.

As for the resort itself, the pool is glorious with views that rival no other hotel, I would only suggest they invest in some new umbrella's. It would also be nice if the pool was cleaned more regularly of flowers and leaves, especially on the smaller pools higher up. The pool bar was just ok but very reasonably priced for a hotel of this standard - just don't have the salad, it was a tiny handful of leaves. Breakfast was served at the top restaurant with views right out to the ocean and was very good indeed - the usual of an egg station, cold meats and cheeses, cereals, pancakes, cooked breakfast items etc. Maid service was carried out every day, as you'd expect. Overall though we were very happy with our stay.

Finally... we actually realised the longer we stayed here and the more research we did on Phangan, that this is literally the best part of the island even though it's very small and takes 30 mins to get to the south side where the main port is, should you want to take trips to any of the other smaller islands. They have turned this area in to a haven of luxury hotels and bars and for such a small area, there is a lot of choice. Behind the luxury hotels is the old village that is superb. Don't be put off the shack-like restaurants. The food is incredible and dirt cheap. I'd highly recommend Luna for a more romantic evening which is at the bottom of the resort's entrance, which is also where the old village starts. It looks posh but is actually well priced and very laid back.

Would come back here in a second.

I stayed at the Panviman in October 2012 and again in June 2013 with my partner and I'm sure we will return again. I think it’s a fantastic peaceful place and Thong Nai Pan Noi is just lovely.

The most amazing thing about the Panviman is the breakfast restaurant. It has breath taking panoramic views that make you glad to be alive! The food for breakfast was nice and there was a wide selection.

The beach bar and restaurant was fab at night with the lights reflecting off the water. We had a few gin fizz cocktails there! (see below about the food).

The rooms are lovely. We stayed in the standard room (which is far from ‘standard’). The bed was very comfortable, there was a large bath and decent shower. The fridge in the room was useful and we used a couple of drinks from the minibar. There was a decent sized balcony with two chairs (which if you sat on for longer than 5 minutes were very uncomfortable but a minor problem really). It's nice to see that the wicker (see-through) blinds dividing the bathroom and bedroom have now been replaced with proper blinds!

The walk up to the hotel from the little village is tiring in the heat of the day as it’s so steep (not suitable if you have a physical disability) but there is a man with a little vehicle that will take you up and down the steep slope, if you want.

The staff were very helpful and polite. There was a really heavy thunderstorm one evening and they came round with little sweets! You could order food for room service (pizzas etc and some thai food) but we just walked into the village in the rain (refreshing if anything).

There is a little private beach but I expect that in high season it would be fairly full as it’s only small – plenty of room up by the infinity pool though – the views from which were breath-taking. You can borrow towels around the pool and beach. There is a lot of steps down to the beach but that didn’t bother us.

Snorkeling gear can also be rented (i don't think they charge for this).

I noticed that you could borrow a kayak from the hotel to kayak around to Thong Nai Pan Yai(although we didn’t do this).

You can also hop on a water taxi (longtail boat) further down the beach if you want to go to another beach - I don't think it costs much.

The rest of the beach at Thong Nai Pan Noi (beyond Panviman’s private section) was lovely as well with only one or two other hotels and you can walk across the beach then up into the village. White sands and clear water. The village is small but has a couple of nice bars and restaurants (Jip’s was brilliant and Luna and Better than Sex also very nice) if you want a change from the hotel beach restaurant food (which was good but expensive with their added VAT and service charge).

There are also a couple of shops in the village but they aren’t cheap (I suppose it’s catered to wealthy honeymoon couples!).

Food at the Beach bar was very good - tuna pizza and a couple of singhas made a great snack!

We walked up to the Panviman Viewpoint - which was a bit of a trek but nice view - becareful for massive biting red ants though!! I wouldn't take children up there, bit dangerous.

If you are flying home/to Bangkok from Samui then get the Panviman speedboat - it leaves Panviman at 9:30am and 1pm everyday and costs 1500THB per person (around £35) which is expensive but it really makes a difference to your journey as it's so fast! Takes around 30 mins to get to Samui then another 10 mins from big buddha pier to airport.

It costs quite a lot (something like 800THB each) for the hotel to drive you back to Thongsala pier if you're getting a catamaran somewhere. On our first visit we used a local lady’s taxi service for around 800THB for the two of us (pays to shop around but if you're loaded then I suppose it doesn't matter).

Hope my review was helpful.

The setting and the rooms are beautiful, all be they a little contrived in a Disney sort of sense. The private beach is a revelation, the swimming pool and restaurant are stunning.

The service as a whole is very good, although I would have preferred the beach minders paid a little more attention to the loungers... it was unclear as to which loungers had been vacated which left me sunbathing at the restaurant, only to discover that a number of loungers had been vacated but their towels had not been cleared. Also, the cocktail makers need a little more training.

Great Breakfast!

I stayed in a Superior Hotel style room and it was very comfortable and had wonderful views. One the whole, my stay was very pleasant and would recommend the stay to anyone.
