For our first visit to Thailand we stayed at Santhiya for 11 nights in November 2013 for my partner's 40th birthday. We have a son aged 10 and a daughter aged 15. From the moment we stepped out of Koh Samui airport the service was excellent. Definitely recommend the hotel transfer by speedboat. Although the sea was pretty rough which had been unexpected. Our daughter suffers severe travel sickness and was very ill on the boat. The staff were brilliant, on hand with water, sick bags and towels throughout the journey. They also called through to the resort manager who was ready to collect her in a buggy so that she didn't have to walk up the steps to the reception area.
The traditional Thai rooms are beautiful as is the whole resort, especially the pool with the waterfall flowing down the rocks, very tranquil and quiet. It is a very relaxing atmosphere which our kids enjoyed but maybe younger children would need more activities, kids clubs etc to keep them entertained. There were not many other children staying there when we went and our son was a little bored at times, however he never complained and still speaks about the holiday all the time.
The hotel food is very expensive and fairly mediocre for the price. We mostly ate in the local village or at the restaurants along the next beach. To get to this beach and the village you have to climb over some rocks. It was not too strenuous for us but for elderly people or people with prams, wheelchairs etc it would be difficult, especially as you have to walk down the beach to get to the village - pushing wheels in the sand is hard work!!
The restaurants in the village serve traditional and international foods at very cheap prices. 'Better than sex' serve the best pizza's - our kids loved them!!
Each night we stopped for cocktails at 'the sandbar' owned by a lovely lady called Tao.
Overall our stay at Santhiya and Koh Phangan was amazing. The resort staff, the cleanliness, the service were better than anywhere we have been before. We will definitely be back to Santhiya in the near future.

Stayed here for 12 nights for our honeymoon in a private pool villa. Everything was perfect, the hotel. is amazing, our villa was pure luxury, the breakfast buffet was massive and the staff were lovely. If a relaxing time is needed, then here is the place for it. Plenty of reataurants and shops in the village a 10min walk away. Its also very easy to book trips out in the local village.

We stayed at Santhiya for 4 nights at the end of our honeymoon - it was the highlight of our two weeks in Thailand.

The hotel itself is paradise. Everything from the standard of rooms, professionalism of staff, to the grounds & pools combines to make this the most amazing hotel we have ever stayed in. We stayed in a hide-away pool villa. The main pool was so amazing that we only really used the private pool in the evenings but it was worth paying the extra money as the room was stunning.

The main pool is amazing and there's plenty of room but secondary pool is a little more luxurious. However its not sign-posted anywhere in the resort so you have to seek it out (located at the fitness centre).

We could not fault the food or service in any way. The staff were extremely friendly & helpful. The nearby village across the rocks has plenty of good quality restaurants & bars should you want to try somewhere different.

Getting to the hotel we opted for a taxi transfer. It's not really somewhere that's easily accessible by road. The hotels private speed boat transfer worked out about €5 more expensive per person than taxi from the dock so we opted for this on our return journey. If you're travelling to Koh Phangan from Koh Samui it works out cheaper to opt for the hotel speedboat direct from Samui as opposed to getting a ferry & taxi.

Thanks again to all at Santhiya for the most memorable hotel stay we have ever had! We will definitely be back!

This place is an absolute paradise. It cost a small fortune compared to all of our other accommodations while traveling through Thailaind & Cambodia on this trip but as soon as my wife and I arrived there we knew it was well worth it. It is in a secluded bay on the much quieter north east side of Ko Pha Ngan. After a lot of traveling Santhiya offered an amazing relaxing experience. Our seaview villa took our breath away when we first arrived. I still miss having an evening shower under the stars in the outdoor bathroom. The breakfast buffet was incredible, as soon as I woke up every morning I couldn't wait to head down and eat! There was so much selection. The staff was also incredible. They were all very easy to talk to and helpful.
While Santhiya's private beach is a little too rocky and not the best for swimming, the public beach right next door is amazing and just a couple minutes walk away. The small town of Thong Nai Pan Noi is also just at the other side of that beach (about 10-15 minute walk from the resort) and offers a few restaurants, shops & bars.

The only negatives I have about the resort are due to the cost. We felt that, while very expensive for us, the cost to stay here was well worth it however a lot of the other costs while staying there can be a bit excessive. For example you could get lunches and dinners in town for a fraction of the cost of Santhiya's restaurant and we though the food in town was just as good or better (JIP Shop restaurant was a favourite). Another example is Santhiya offered a boat cruise excursion for 4000 baht per person, but my wife and I booked the same trip in town for 3600 baht total for BOTH of us. I would also highly recommend Tanaporn's Massage in town. The setting is so peaceful and the service is excellent and again, my wife and I were able to each get a massage at less cost than a single massage at Santhiya's spa. Finally, the bar at the resort closes pretty early and most of the bars and restaurants in town seemed to shut down shortly after midnight but if you are looking for a place to have a good time that lasts well into the night/early morning then check out Rasta Baby Bar. Definately a good time! When it comes down to it, cost and money are all relative depending on the person but for us we found it worth our while to head into town most days and evenings instead of continuing to rack up our bill at the resort.

That being said, my wife and I had the perfect honeymoon at Santhiya and I can't recommend it highly enough for anyway looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway in a beautiful setting!

We stayed here for 4 nights for the final part of our honeymoon from Feb 12-16, 2014. Yes it is far from Thong Sala and Haad Rin (on the north east side of Koh Phangan) but we wanted the seclusion. It was a 45 min ride to the hotel and parts of the road were bumpy and unpaved, but it was fine. It turned out that the Thong Nai Pan beach and village is only an easy 15 min walk to the right along the beach (follow the path through rocks). We went there a few times for lunch or dinner and to pick up drinks & snacks. We highly recommend the Bamboo Hut restaurant (best meal of our trip!)

We had a Pool Villa plus with an ocean view... WOW! Nothing beats the view from your room when you wake up... and the ability to jump into your private infinity pool! The outdoor washroom was huge, we didn't have any issues with mosquitoes (there were 2 citronella lamps).

The complimentary 30 minute head, neck & shoulder massage provided by the hotel was the BEST massage I had in Thailand (thanks Kai). Wish we had more time to book a longer treatment at their gorgeous spa.

The resort seemed large at first, but we found the walk downhill to the lobby and restaurant fairly easy. They have free shuttles to drive you to and from your room, and we used it mostly for the uphill trip back to our villa.

Buffet breakfast was fantastic, with a varied selection of both Asian and Western tastes. Pool area had a separate children's area and we saw several young families here. WiFi access was strong everywhere.

Going to the Full Moon Party was very easy. We met 2 other couples planning to go and we walked along the beach and hired a private taxi for 700 THB per couple round trip (much cheaper than the hotel cost of 1,500 THB pp on speedboat or 5,000 THB for a private car). We opted to take the longer car ride vs. a boat since the waves were quite rough. Pick up times both ways were flexible and pre-determined in advance.

Overall, we loved this resort and only wish we could have stayed longer. It is not as isolated as you might think... it provides the perfect mix of seclusion & village accessibility. Totally worth the splurge!
