Good budget option but ask to see the room first

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 25 Jul 2012via mobile
Stayed here for 6 nights and it's a good option for groups and young people. The rooms do vary in relation to overall standard So ask to see the room first. Our first 4 nights there the room was fine but when we wanted to stay an additional 2 nights we had to swap rooms and the other room was dirty, filled with damp, air con didn't work and the washroom had a broken window so full of Mosquitos. Our friends had a room beside the pool and these seemed a lot nicer so definitely check the room before agreeing to it.

OK, I've seen some of the more recent reviews saying "Don't go here" and claiming false advertising. As we didn't book our room beforehand and didn't see any brochures we therefore can't comment on any of those aspects.

As we went to Phi Phi during May which is when the season is ending, the island was not as busy so we could walk upto reception (fairly friendly) and get a room just like that. It was decent value but I would imagine that during busy season prices would be a lot higher.

The room itself was pretty good - fairly spacious with TV, air con and a decent private bathroom. One thing I found strange was that the pool and bar were 200m (ish) away from the rooms and it appears that they are shared with other hotels rather than being exclusive. However as the pool is next to the beach it made more sense to hang out on the beach.

This is not a resort at best its a step above a community toilet. They use Phi Phi Princess photos to promote their place which is about 300mtrs away. Do yourself a favour don't book on the internet as they do not refund for their false advertising as we found out when we got there. Cheap, crappy looking place, nothing like the web suggested.

All advertisements and pictures are of another resort on the island, when we arrived we found it to be very substandard and very untidy. The staff are not interested in helping, they do not care for any visitors. For the price you pay you get a very low standard even a back packers motel is better quality than here. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK OR EVEN LOOK AT STAYING HERE!!!
You would be better off paying a little extra and staying at the Palms resort on Phi Phi Island very good service polite staff and very good amenities. I highly recommend staying here instead

I was in Thailand over December 2011/2012. I'm writing this review so that people looking for a great time in Phi Phi will not ruin their holiday by booking at this hotel. The hotel also runs under the name 'Phi Phi Princess' so do not book at either.

Firstly, it can't even be called a hotel. It just consists of a number of spread out, run down buildings consisting of rooms, if you can call them that. The rooms are disusting, dirty, tiny, some have no windows, some have blood stains on the walls, the bathrooms are little concrete areas with facilities that are just unacceptable.

Secondly, the service is terrible. They overbook all the rooms so when you get there, the room you have booked is unavalible and they try put you in another, less superior room, even though all the rooms I saw were horrible. I heard from various staff members that the manager does this all the time, accomodation mix ups are a permanent thing here and they are totally unhelpful when it comes to sorting things out

I have travelled Thailand extensively on 4 occasions and never have I had an experience like we had with this hotel. The pictures DO NOT represent the hotel, do not be fooled!!! We gave up the money we had paid, which was a lot as they are the biggest rip offs, and went to stay at another hotel. Best decision we ever made. I know many people who were in the same situation and if they could find other accomodation, they moved hotels. Unfortuantely it was over New Years and Phi Phi was very full and the people who were forced to stay there remained very unhappy.

Seriously,I'm really not fussy, I just need a clean simple room to be happy, and this 'hotel' is the biggest joke. Never ever stay here. Rather stay at the Phi Phi hotel, the cabins rooms are the same price as Phi Phi Charlie and I cant even explain the difference. Otherwise P P Palmtree, Banyan Villa Resort, JJ residence, PP Casita, actually anywhere but here. Sleep on the beach if you need to, you will have a better experience than at Phi Phi Charlie.

Stayed there three nights, absolutely no issues encountered. I read the reviews but they are totally different from my experience. Pool is great, view is great, room and aircon no problem whatsoever. If you just want to sleep away from the crazy night life of Phi Phi it's the right place, as it's 5 minute walk from the center but just isolated enough to be quiet. I just stayed in Phi Phi for the diving and needed rest, and I had it there.
