“Fantastic location, shame about the decor.”

Stayed at this hotel during my 4 day stay in phi phi. My bungalow(V2) was on the beach, I could of thrown a stone from my balcony into the sea. Cannot fault the location. However I feel the bungalow lacked an identity, the decor was a bit dated. The dump shower in our room didn't work & the air-con temperature seemed to come on when it felt liked it. The hotel has a shop that's open from 6:30am til 10:30pm which is very handy & a nice restaurant serving breakfast, lunch & dinner. The food is cheap, don't let that put you off. Some wonderful tasting dishes, I'd recommended the red curry. The hotel is located on Long Beach, perfect for couples as its away from the main backpacker part of the island, but only a 100 but per person longboat ride away. Overall the hotel was just what we wanted, something right on the beach, amazing views of the ocean. But did lack that certain style in the bungalow.

We stayed at the paradise pearl for 2 nights of our honeymoon, having eaten in their restaurant both myself and my husband spent an unpleasant night with vomiting and diarrhea.

We complained to the hotel staff on check out the next morning, the reception staff seemed confused and unsure what to do or say, they suggested that maybe the food we had eaten was too spicy for us! As my husband's family is from South India believe me we have eaten far spicier food than the mediocre watered down offering available at the hotel and have never been over come as we were at the paradise pearl!

The manager was unavailable so we left a message and our contact details so that they might contact us to discuss our experience, that was 2 weeks ago and we have heard nothing.

It seems that no one at the paradise pearl actually cares! Which is the general impression we got from all of the staff, from breakfast in the morning to dinner in the evening staff served us with surly expressions. Staff lounged about the restaurant and bar areas cracking open beers of their own as soon as the clock struck 9.30 and the bar closed.

A shame as the room was lovely and the location beautiful, spend your money at one of the other resorts along long beach!

Stayed with family for 6 nights in beachfront bungalow P1 and P6 twice - in November 2010 and November 2012. We liked both our stays and almost all was excellent except reception and restaurant staff.

Comparing our first and second stay we found no changes during that time except addition of new K rooms and prices increased 30% up.
We asked for longtail boat transfer to/from resort during booking process and received it free of charge even website says it cost 100THB/way/pax.

I saw some complaints about PhiPhi weather in November, but maybe we were lucky because we get short (less than hour) light rain maybe 4 days only during our 12 days stay.

Location - not close to town but not remote too. We never used longtail taxi to go to/from town because there is a pathway and you can reach town in about 20~30 minutes on foot. Most of the pathway is paved except small part near resort (up and down the hill).

The most exciting part of this resort is the beach and the sea. And the view to Phi Phi Ley island....
It was the best sea which we had in front of hotel in south-east Asia untill now.
Beautifull white soft coral sand beach and calm blue water. The most importand thing is that the sea is swimable both during high and low tide. No jellyfish and sea urchin was observed. Quite good snorkeling right off the beach. We found there are two places (actually not reef but more likely underwater stones) where you can see fish: one right in front of bungallow A1 near most right side of the beach, the second - almost in the left end of the beach (somewhere in front of The Beach Resort, near concrete/stone wall going from the beact in to sea).

Resort itsef was very green and well maintained. No pool (but you don't need it because sea is fantastic). Wooden garden and restaurant furniture. Bungalow was a little bit dark but very spacious and clean with large terrace and good view.

Food was good and not expensive. Breakfast choice was good enough. We ate dinner mostly at resort restaurant and it was delicious, but seafood selection was limited. If you like seafood it is better to go into town.
There are minimarket next to reception and you can buy most necessary things here: water, beer, moskito repellent, snacks, etc.

We had a massage several times and it was very good. SPA staff even was smiling... what was very rare at this resort.

Regarding most of the reviews complaining about rude staff - yes, reception and restaurant staff was rude and no smiles, but housekeeping girls was smiling. But I think lack of smiles isn't a reason not to go to this resort - we just need to be positive by ourselves...

Room Tip: Resort website has a map, please check it and you will find desired room easily. P1 is the most be...

My friend and I stayed at the resort for 5 nights from 19-24th November.

The weather seriously let us down so wouldn't recommend a visit to Phi Phi in November!

The setting was amazing with white sands, blue seas and fantastic views of some nearby islands. Was also nice to be tucked away from the Phi Phi town which is where the nightlife tends to be. You can either trek to town via the 2km path which is quite uphill or you can pay 100THB for a taxi boat.

The room we stayed in was clean and huge considering there were just 2 of us staying in it.

As you are so secluded you are really tied to eating in the resort restaurant. The buffet breakfast was tasty with plenty to choose from and the service in the evening was good
although a bit too fast. They tended to bring all dishes at once not understanding the concept of starters, mains and desserts. There seemed to be about 5:1 service staff working however most of them stood around whilst the heavily pregnant supervisor seemed to do all the running around. It was difficult getting a smile out of most of them.

The reception staff were polite upon arrival but any time they were asked for help throughout our stay they were abrupt, miserable and quite rude. We had an issue to deal with at the end of the trip whereby Airasia kindly texted to say our transfer / flight home had been cancelled due to bad weather and rearranged to the following day. This was not an option as our UK flights back were booked for that day. It was like pulling teeth trying to get the reception staff to help us try to sort it out. They let us use the phone and internet eventually but made sure they got every baht back for the privilege.

All in all, the resort is fantastic. It would have been a million times nicer in the sunshine. I would stay there again but not in November.

We stayed at this hotel for four nights and I can honestly say I was desperate to leave by the end of our stay! I love to give good reviews, so this isn't a normal one for me.

The beach is beautiful, the rooms are lovely (we stayed in P2) with great sea view. The bathrooms looked nice, but shower was cold with no pressure, which wasn't a big deal for us.

However the restaurant and reception however were a joke. They seemed to be managed by a heavily pregnant lady who was miserable and rude. The rest of the staff worked by her example and really were obnoxious. No one smiles, or even bothers to try and act like they care, in fact it's very clear they don't! We remained polite and tipped throughout our stay but it made no difference.

At one point I even saw the manager lady give a filthy look behind a guests back who was wearing a short beach dress. There was never music playing in the restaurant or bar, so no atmosphere whatsoever. Every seat in resort was beautiful and wooden, but very hard and no cushions anywhere.

Reception staff were much the same, with the exception of the tall girl who who polite and helpful.

All in all, I would say this hotel is beautiful on a great beach, but it's ruined by staff, at first we laughed and joked about it, but honestly they don't deserve your business.

We moved to Koh Muk, Pawapi resort and were met with smiles, friendly staff and a great atmosphere, which was very reassuring!

This hotel was terrible. The staff NEVER smiled even though I tipped, the power constantly went out and they find a way to charge you for everything- even the beach chairs. I spent two nights in this hotel and was astonished that there is NO room service, NO hot water in the shower and it cost 50 THB just for a beach chair. Although, there was a detailed list in the room of how much things would cost you if you damaged them, it seemed all they care about is money. I tipped at every meal and never got a smile, the staff just seemed annoyed by their guests and didn't want us to be there. You need to get a boat to and from the main part of the island if you want to do some shopping or see the rest of phi phi but the taxi boat drivers are rude and demand 300 baht if you're travelling by yourself- otherwise you need to stand around waiting for other passengers which could be anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour..

I would recommend staying at Viking which is next door but you can walk into the town centre easily and don't have to deal with rude taxi boat drivers. Also, I walked through the restaurant and it looked far nicer then the one at paradise pearl.

Beautiful setting, gorgeous beach and easy access to town if you want by long tail or 30 minute walk. The rooms are good the shower pressure soso but adequate. The bar and restaurant was a pleasant surprise in that the quality and price were better than anticipated given that they are the only show around. The view can't be beaten. Service is good if a little surly. I would return here any time.

Room Tip: The map you see on booking is very descriptive and you will be happy wherever.
