“Amazing views”
Reviewed 27 February 2014

The resort has amazing views from the hillside and is generally away from the tourist crowds back at TonSai (main port of Phi Phi).

GET A ROOM WITH FULL BAY VIEW! Some rooms are obstructed by vegetation and completely ruin the reason to stay at this resort. We moved easily on request but the hotel was nowhere near full capacity.

We arranged for a Speed Boat transfer to and from the mainland as the ferry option looked slow and CROWDED, pricey but in the end it seemed worth it.

This resort is in the process of continuing improvements and was evident but not obstructive.

My suggestion is rent a longtail boat (negotiate on the beach, although the resort will happily arrange this) for 4 hours (around 1800 Bhat) and go around the entire island to see what might interest you, there are nice beaches and spots to spend your days at. Near the end of our stay we were spending time 10 minute boat ride away (500 Bhat) at Laem Thong Bay (Sea Gypsy Village) which has a nice beach with multiple beach side restaurants.

No beach at this resort although the pool deck overhangs the waterline and is a good spot for sunbathing and relaxing. A 2 minute walk over to the outrigger resort will get you on the beach and we had no problems entering this area and transiting through to the small village behind that contains many local bars and restaurants. A walking path will get you over to La Na Bay beach with is worth the short walk.

Alcohol is available from the poolside bar service throughout the day and a FREE happy hour from 5:30-6:30 with snacks up near with the lobby with a great view. Other then it being available at dinner you might want to bring some with you to the resort if your looking to drink frequently.

Maya Bay (From the movie The Beach) is always packed with tourists so try to go in the morning. Best to rent a speed boat which is the move expensive option but well worth it as it's a long trek for long boats to make.

Overall this resort is good with great views but not beach ideal for Thailand. The staff was great and customer service never failed. Located on the other end of the island from TonSai where the backpackers and tourist hordes amass, so there is relaxing to be had.

Room Tip: Request a room with unobstructed view of the bay. If you don't get one try changing on arrival.

Booked a 3 night stay as a part of a 9 day holiday with my son to celebrate his engagement. Decided on a private speed boat to take us there from Phuket. The car arrived on time to pick us up. The speedboat was 1 hour late. Arrived eventually. Views from the lobby area are spectacular. Just as well. We had a 2 hour wait for our rooms. Room 1 had a brilliant view of the bay. Room 2 had no view at all. Completely obscured by heavy foliage. Ah well. Let's get to town. Sorry. You can only get there by boat. Last boat leaves at 8pm and returns at 11pm. But you have it book it by 5pm. Ok. Let's hit the bar. Happy hour is at 5:30 until 6:30 and it's FREE drinks. Half measures but free. The bar-man rings the bell at 6:25. We think it's "last orders" Sorry it's closed now. "OK , We will pay". Sorry the bar is closed now. So where do we go? For dinner. Is there a bar there? No, sorry.... Basically, after the happy hour closes there is absolutely nothing to do. You cannot buy, beg or borrow a drink. We can walk to the next resort? Sorry, the high tide comes in at 8:45pm and you cannot get back. So we sit on our balcony and drink a half bottle of vodka that we had luckily brought from Phuket. Breakfast was good. Let's hit the beach. Sorry, no beach. How about that beach? That belongs to the next resort. You cannot use it. A FREE TRIP to bamboo island. Sounds great. Leaves at 09:00 and returns at 12 noon. We were ready and waiting at 08:45. We left at 10:00. 2 long tail boats took 21 of us to the island. We arrived at 10:30 and were greeted by the driver of the first boat. "It's 300 baht to visit the island". "Thought this trip was free???? The boat trip is free. It's 300 baht to go onto the island. He scammed us all and pocketed 5 or 6 thousand baht. No receipts, no ID, having lived in Thailand for 10 years and have learned to recognize a scam, I refused to pay the 300 baht each and reluctantly paid 200 baht for all 4 of us....... The other travelers were all upset with this scam. Other people that we met on the island did not pay at all. Having pocketed his cash he then informed us we gad to leave in 1 hour and be back at the hotel by 12. At 11:30 he was waiving and shouting us to get back into his boat. Where is the other boat??? Busy!!! So all 21 of us plus the scammer driver were crammed into his boat and returned at half speed because the boat was so low in the water. Both other long-tail boats were sitting idly at the hotel when we returned. The golf-cart taxi service to the rooms is a must as the steps up the mountain are a killer. "Call us anytime for lift back down" sounds great unless the phone in your room doesn't work. We went to get ready for dinner. Only to be greeted in our room by an unexpected visitor. A RAT!!!!! No phone to call the lobby and a killer walk back down the mountain. After 2 hours an "expert" arrived to sort it out. Armed with a radio. He was not amused when I picked up his radio and started yelling "calling all rats, calling all rats" over the air. They have no traps or anything else available to deal with this. He said he would return later after speaking to his boss. He returned that evening with a tube of silicon sealant to seal the hole in the wall under the sink where he thought it had come into the room. So he/she/they were now either locked out of our room or locked in!!!! It was the latter. Anyway tomorrow will be better. Not a chance. I could go on and on and on. The hotel is expensive. The design concept is good the management and functionality are a disaster. I cannot understand how they do not even consider the provision of some evening entertainment and/or a bar. There is absolutely nothing to do after sunset except watch TV or sit around on your balcony. On departure, I reminded the receptionist that we had been there for 3 long boring nights. The phone still doesn't work, the rat is still in the room and we still have no hot water. She smiled knowingly as if she'd heard it all before. She probably had. Pity the poor sod who gets this room next. Give this place a miss and you can get much better service and facilities at half the price.

A real treat. Very relaxing. Isolated. Beautiful views. Obliging and friendly staff. Very clean & amazing rooms. Great if you want to get away from everything and sit by an amazing pool with a book sipping cocktails.
Not so great if you're looking for any form of excitement, there is no bar to speak of and the small village nearby doesn't really have much going on. 3 days was perfect. Make sure to haggle a little on the price and not just book the online price.

Room Tip: the rooms nearest reception have a great view 101-103 and you dont have to navigate alot of steps ho...

We had planned to stay here for only one night but ended up extending our stay with one more night since we just loved everything about the hotel.

We made the reservation through agoda and didn't know that the hotel had free transportation from the pier to the hotel (have to go there by boat). However, we ended up calling the hotel when we got there and they sent a new boat just for us, free of charge.

The location is a bit off, close to a village but far from the parties of Ton Sai. You go here for the peace and quiet and to enjoy the beautiful setting.

They have a complimentary trip to Bamboo island, due to a misunderdtanding we missed it so they arranged for a new trip later that day just for us, we were so happy with the service! Every member of the staff was great and they went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. The manager was the best; walking around, talking to the guests and making sure we had a great stay. The staff, especially the ones working in the reception, had good english and we had no problem with the communication.

The brakfast was amazing as was the food at the restaurant. They had a happy hour every day with free cocktails and snacks.

Our room was beautiful with a spectacular view of the ocean. You could enjoy the view from the bed aswell as from the nice bathtub. We did have a problem with the hot water one night but we called the reception and they fixed it within five minutes. Free and fast wifi everywhere in the hotel. Everything was nice and clean and the room also had a minibar which was free of charge.

Having stayed at many 5 star hotels before, this is one of the absolute best. With great attention to details and great service we highly recommend this hotel and will most definitley come back!

We had a great stay over New Year.

Acknowledging the concerns of others, yes, the steps are a bit hard but I found the staff very obliging with the golf buggy's if/when needed. You can seem a bit isolated, but that is what we wanted but it is easy enough to get to the rest of the island if that's what you want. It will also be easier if Outrigger let them have path access through their grounds.

On the plus side of the above, the cliff can be hard work if you avoid using the buggies, but the views are also one of the best attributes of the property.

Overall, the food was very good, the staff were fantastic, (even if English wasn't the best with many). However, their hospitality & that of the owner could not be questioned. We were fortunate to join him & his family on a snorkeling trip & had a great time.

The owner advised that the property has been upgraded & the product has just been re-launched. They need to be congratulated. The only reason I graded it lower for value is that the NY prices were quite high, but you expect that at NY.

As usual, one man's dream is another man's nightmare.
The village is built on a hill and the bungalows with the bets views are the furthest away. Judging from the other comments, the bungalows vary greatly in condition. Ours was immacualte.
The distance between our bungalow and the pool was some 300 steps. However, we rarely waited for the golf cart to drive us up. Then again, we walk our dog three times a day and never take the bus just one stop where we live.
The staff is inexperienced and speak little English, on the other hand I rarely need to talk to the staff in hotels beyond the basic questions room key and bill, which they all understand perfectly.
Breakfast was OK, some fruit come cereals, some thai food. Getting a second serving of the tea, was difficult the first time, but then I always got two pots for the rest of the stay.
Dinner on their balcony with again breathtaking views costs more than usually in Thailand, but you pay for the view and the fact that there are few guests and no screaming crowd. Indeed, do try the village behind the neighbouring resort. Better food at half price, but without the view. Or try the neigbouring restaurant, also somewhat cheaper and with a greater variety, but again without the view.
Happy hour in the bar was not all that happy. Don't order any drinks expecting them to taste like they do back home, but for a fruit juice or a beer ordered well before the end of the hour you will not be disppointed.
The hotel runs its own excursions, expect to pay a bit more than usual but on the other hand expect to picked up and returned to your own hotel wthout any hassle.
Hotel spas are always overpriced. Try the village (see above) if money is an issue.
Finally, avoid staying at Chistmas or New Year when this hotel like most others overcharge you substantially for a compulsory dinner. And whle speaking of it, be ware that the hotel plays Christmas songs every morning starting early December...

Room Tip: It seems individual bungalows are worn and thorn.
