“Wouldn't stay again.”
Reviewed 1 July 2011

Stayed here for a night. Booked ferry transfers + 1 night at the tourism offices in Karon for 1200 Baht per person.

Dark, dirty feeling bathrooms, bedrooms ok. Individual, stand alone bungalows a good idea, but rooms need a refurb. Wouldn't stay again as it didn't have a great feel to it. Breakfast included but across at another restaurant. Consisted of eggs, sausages, fruit & toast.

Great location and good value though. Recommend a night at Hippy Bar.

Suit budget travellers. Stay one night only.

The staff here is nice and the location is great. We had to play musical rooms while we were there, which was not a problem for us by itself. The first bungalow we stayed in for two people was nice enough and was a huge step up for the same price as the place we'd stayed the night before. The second bungalow was filthy- dirty foot and handprints all over the wall, the TV did not work, the bathroom was gross. In fact, someone had written above the bathroom door "The place is a shi*thole" Couldn't have agreed more. We left the island the next day. It's hard to find a decent place in Phi Phi for a decent price during the peak season, though, so it's worth checking out but don't commit until you've examined your room. Free breakfast is at the hotel next door. They do not have WiFi here.

After we had suffered 3 nights the noise of discos in the other side of the island we slept well here. It was difficult to find hotel because of New Year. So I recommend early booking in PhiPhi when it is high season. The breakfast (included) was served in other hotel and it was okay. We were told that our bungalow is old but it was okay. Air-conditioning and shower worked ok.

Lets get one thing straight -- there are two Andamans on Phi Phi Island. There is Andaman Legacy, and then there is Andaman Beach Resort. They are right next to each other, and the Andaman resort is kind of like Andaman Legacy's budget little sister. The Legacy has the nice pool. The Andaman Beach Resort has NO POOL but you can use another resorts pool for 100 baht ($3 dollars). The Andaman Beach Resort is a series of bungalows in a nice little treed area off the main walking road, and its nice and quiet and shady. The beach is close but not a great beach; the walk to Long Beach is maybe ten minutes, and is one of the nicest beaches on the island.

On the Tonsai Bay side, which is where Andaman is, is the quiet, couples/family side. The other side of the isthmus is where the party is at. Lots of drunk twenty somethings and big parties and fireshows and overcrowded beaches. so if you want to meet other travelers, stay on the other side of the isthmus. If you want to be close to party area but on the quiet side, stay on tonsai bay. If you want to be away from town, in a secluded, nice, private area, stay at the top end of the island (in the direction of the holiday inn) -- there are lots of little bungalow resorts in between Phi Phi Town and Long Beach, but its a bit of a hike to town, and probably kind of dangerous when it rains.

Everything on phi phi is expensive, so $80 a night is probably reasonable for this quality of hotel in Phi Phi, but super expensive relative to other areas of Thailand. The bathroom is kind of disgusting, as the drain really didn't work and the shower is not separate from the toilet/sink, and they didn't clean the bathroom during our stay. Still, the water was hot and it functioned.

Location is good as it is fairly quiet in this part of town but if you want to party its really close to a couple of bars and a short walk to party area of town, and close to the nice beaches.

The staff was really nice and helpful, and they carried our luggage to and from the ferry for our trips. Theres no free wifi but you can buy wifi access from some wireless hot spots -- we used TOT, which was super fast, but was 500 baht for a months worth of access or 30 hours or something; we didnt use it all.

So -- the hotel was kind of mreh but it was fine, no real complaints except the bathroom.

We booked this hotel on the ferry to Ko Phi Phi as the brochure was very appealing and we were worried about finding a room. However, it did not live up to the agent’s promises or our expectations.

The hotel is located behind the Andaman Legacy Reception area, so initially we were very pleased with our choice as we thought it was part of that complex. However, after checking in we were led into the actual resort to our bungalow which was very run down, with torn furnishings and broken furniture – there was no electricity as the fuse had blown and the air conditioning unit was hanging off the wall, the hot shower we had been promised turned out to be lukewarm and the beds were uncomfortable. Over our 3 night stay, the electricity tripped out 3 times and we had problems with the door key.

On the positive side, the staff were very helpful and quickly responded to our problems and we liked the location as it is in the quiet area of the island, away from the noisy bars with lots of nice sea view restaurants nearby and water taxis to the more remote beaches.

If possible, I would recommend doing a bit of research and booking your hotel in Ko Phi Phi far in advance, we tried to do this a few days before we arrived but all the nicer hotels with good reviews were booked up.

We booked this hotel for 2 nights at the tourist office after arriving by ferry. The pictures of this hotel on show at the office made it look far nicer than it was in reality. After talking to other travellers, we found that this seemed to be a common problem with many hotels in the islands.

First impressions weren't too bad as the reception area was ok. Then we were shown to our bungalow! The furniture was very old, of poor quality and dropping to bits. The bathroom was awful, the tiling was old and stained, the shower had no power and wasn't very warm. The front door was split and didn't fit it's frame very well. I checked out a couple of other bungalows, and they were of the same poor standard.

On the positive side, the bedding and towels were clean and the breakfast was ok (but not great). The air conditioning worked ok, so that was a bonus. We could only face 1 night, and so asked for a refund for the 2nd night, but were refused. We left anyway.

The cost of a room during the easter holidays was 2500 baht. There are far better places on Phi Phi for the same cost. Give this one a miss.

The bungalow was spacious and clean.
Bed was comfort, shower was above local standard and we could actually enjoy it (it used solar instead of the usual small annoying electrical heating device)
The bungalow had a nice balcony, and very good air conditioning.
Overall Good value for money (2000 bhat per night including an ok breakfast)
The hotel is in the opposite side of the beach and has no swimming pool.
We liked the fact that it was a quieter hotel still within a walking distance from the center of the main village (Tonsai village).
Staff was helpful and understood us well.
