We stayed here i mid April in the superior tree house T3. It was the most fantastic room I have ever stayed in, really beautifully decorated in a funky cool style with so many tastefull details. The tree house was very big, with a comfortable big double bed with good mosquito netting, the bathroom was beautiful with lots of hot water and the veranda was huge with a fabulous view of the beach and Tonsai beach, it had a great hammok and 2 great daybeds to laze on in the shade. The whole resort is very friendly and is in a great possition right on the beach, it has 2 small beaches and a rocky area which is great for snorkling and sunbathing. . It only takes aprox 10-15 min to walk slowly into town and 5 min to long beach. Perfect position as you can choose if you want nightlife or quiet, we could hear the music faintly in the distance from town which was nice. We loved the place and wished we could have stayed longer....next time....

Room Tip: T3 was great

3 of us shared one of the nicer rooms (M4D) and really loved it. To set the standard, this is a Thai-style place. There is no air-con and it is built around the nature...and with natural materials. It really suited my taste perfectly. But, if you can't handle a bit of rustic or you need air con, go elsewhere. It's very spacious with a gorgeous balcony, hammock, and areas to relax. The one thing it lacked was a view of the water...you could barely see it through the trees, but, getting a view would mean cutting down the trees so I'm glad they didn't do that. The private beaches aren't the nicest but they are quiet in comparison to others. There is now a nice paved path into the busy part of the island. Not a great place to stay if you plan to be out on tonsai every night until late. But, the walk is still doable late at night. Overall a very relaxing trip a small piece of heaven hiding on Phi Phi!

Room Tip: The cheaper single huts looked to have the best views but were a bit further from the beach and I didn't look inside. I'd say they are probably pretty basic.

The Viking has its own part of the island between Long Beach and the main town. Nice quite beach away from all the Phi Phi madness, but close enough to walk. There is no direct road, but really nice footpath takes you to town. I loved the walk in the mornings! The staff here is really friendly and will teach you everything you want to know about the island and Thailand. Everyone there really made me feel welcome. The music at night is nice and chill. The grounds are unique and blend in the the hillside. The detail in everything is incredible. It feels like a five star camping trip being a nature resort. I can't wait to go back.

We had an amazing stay at Viking Resort on Koh Phi Phi - it was the perfect spot for our time on the party island - it's one of the only places where you don't have to listen to the thumping music all night (even on the other side of the island you can hear it!) and with its two private beaches, tons of hammocks, and spacious area, it was perfect for us. We actually had a bad stay at another resort for the first few days on the island and stumbled across Viking during a hike to Long Beach, which is only 10 minutes from the resort. We lucked out and took one of the cheapest bungalows, which was around 1500 baht/night, but it was exactly what we wanted and even better than our previous (more expensive) bungalow from the other resort.

It's about a 30min walk to town, but if the tide is low (full moon) then you can walk right across the sand the entire way, which is beautiful. The bungalow we stayed in was very small but had a wonderful large balcony with a hammock and was very clean and comfortable. The Thai people who run the resort are friendly and organized and I appreciated very much their reception area, which had everything under control. When you book with Viking they also can pick you up with your luggage direct from the Pier for free, which saves you a pretty decent hike, so definitely do that!

Thanks to Viking for a wonderful stay - a perfect place for our Koh Phi Phi experience! Highly recommended!!!

Room Tip: Get one with a balcony and a hammock! You'll never want to leave ;)

Stayed here for five nights over the Easter break. OK place but overall not too happy with it. Part of that may be my expectations have changed over the years. 5 years ago I would have been fine with the place, but now I don't mind spending a tiny bit more for somewhere a bit "nicer" and I wish I had this time round.

Pros:
- Lovely little beaches
- Nice location in the forest giving it a very natural feel, making it quite different from other locations
- Nice big room and porch (stayed in Makmai 3C)
- Liked wooden style rooms
- Free food tasting in the evenings

Cons:
- Poor, slow service
- No hot water
- Bugs in room (but understand I'm in a forest so this is to be expected)
- Quite a bit of a trek to either Long Beach or Tong Sai
- Weird in room charging of bills policy
- No TV in room
- Poor quality food in restaurant
- Wifi in restaurant area was very spotty, only worked 50% of the time
- Very noisy

Basically in balance didn't like the place. The little beach areas were lovely and it was nice and secluded. But that was about the only main positive thing about this place. The room itself wasn't that bad, but lackage of TV (like to unwind in the evening) and hot water did spoil it for me. But the biggest issue was the poor poor service received. The staff were very slow and often got things wrong, leading to quite a bit of frustration. Also the wifi in the lobby area only worked 50% of the time. One very weird, thing, which I've never seen before, is if you charged your bills (such as food or drink in the restaurant) to the room, they would charge you a 5% fee for this!!

I appriciate that being in the forest, things may get a bit noisy with animals, insects etc, but we found the resort to be very noisy at night, not because of these animals, but because of the music blaring out from Tong Sai. It is crazy, but the music travelled all the way over the bay to the resort and it was loud, so be warned with this. Also you can hear the motors of the long tails quite clearly.

Location was in between Tong Sai and Long Beach. We were basically in these areas every day, Long Beach for diving and beach chilling and Tong Sai at night for dinner and drinks. The restaurant at the resort was overpriced and the quality of the food was poor. To get to Long Beach it was about a 15 minute walk going through the forest. There were some steep climbs. To get to Tong Sai you either took a long tail or walked. The walk took about 30 - 45 minutes. It was actually quite a nice walk, but not so comfortable in flip flops.

So, overall, for me, I would not go back to this place again. Saying that, I do see its appeal. Some people would like it a lot, especially as you are surrounded by nature and it is very different to other resorts.

Room Tip: The Makmai rooms are quite nice.
