First hotel in my life to check out 15min after check-in!!!
Clearly alot of customers like this. But for us no way!
They advertise on website, Agoda, very differently than what it is!
Long tail boat arrival, walking on rocks to get there, the rooms are in the middle of Burmese village.
The staff here are Burmese - not Thai - as some customers said.
Millions of mosquitos and no Aircon.

Clearly alot of customers like this rustic jungle experience, but this is not what is communicated via their website or Agoda!!
Be careful that you get what you wish for. For us, we paid and leaved at an instant - first time ever! And we spend 2 months every year in Thailand.

This is the first hotel I've paid in my life and walked away just after check-in and booked new one.

This place is in the middle of a jungle and Burmese village. No air con and tons of mosquitoes. Prepare to walk on the rocks, steep hills. No Security too apart from your lock.

I checked Agoda reviews, Tripadvisor AND the hotel website, yet I did not understood the facts of its location, remoteness and lack of facilities. Thus I call it a miss regarding how it's promoted.

Tip: be sure what you want from your stay - many seem to like this place but not us. Absolute waste of time and money for us.

We stayed for one night (sadly) and we were so happy we had made the effort to cross the island for this resort. We were upgraded to a Maxmai tree house when we had paid for a Bungalow at 1500THB, the tree houses are usually let at 4000THB - what an incredible surprise! Can see exactly why you would want to upgrade to one of these tree houses if you could - they are amazing. Sooo large and beautiful, huge rooms with four poster beds, everything is bamboo and dark wood, the bathrooms are really large with separate toilets and hot showers and marble effect sinks. The treehouse is flanked by a really large deck - shared with one other treehouse and houses a hammock and a wonderful view of the sea. There is no AC at the resort so it can be a little sticky trying to sleep if you're used to AC but it's not in keeping with the nature resort so they are better off without it I think. A beautiful semi-private beach with crystal clear water and plenty of fishies! The town is accessible by foot but as we were only there for one night and had been to town before, we stayed at the resort and took full advantage. The restaurant was great with really reasonably priced food (considering you're a little captive in view of the location) and a good selection too - a couple of little criticisms is that it often took quite a while to be served in the restaurant but there was rarely more than one person during the day and two at night working the 'floor' to so speak and the waiter in particular was always very friendly. Free taxi boat to and from the resort but on the way to the resort we did have to wait about 50 minutes in the 35degree heat for the taxi boat to arrive. To be really picky, the receptionist could have been a little more personable as she was was a bit abrupt with us at times but that really is picking bones as could easily be a communication issue, perhaps it's just that because this place is so nice, you expect more than you would elsewhere (?) - a great place though, really beautiful, incredible rooms and would recommend in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: If you can, go for a treehouse but the bungalows themselves are beautiful anyway!

My wife and I honeymooned here, we were in a very impressive large treehut (room) with an isolated beach not five minutes away from our room. We were a twenty minute walk from the shopping centre. The resort is located in a quiet area, a lovely relaxing place. The restaurant food service isn't brilliant, you might want to double check that they understand your order before they leave - very few good English speakers. The resort seems to cater to backpackers mostly. The room experienced frequent blackouts during our stay.

We enjoyed a lovely tour of Phi Phi Island, the highlight was the snorkeling and monkey island. We opted for the six hour tour which by the end of the day (in the heat) is a long time to spend on a long tail.

We got a tiny room that our bags barely fit. No ac just a fan so it got pretty hot specially in the morning. The beach in front is very quiet and beautiful, if you want to remain there it's very good, however if you need to get into town often for eating or catching boats it's quite a walk like 20min so better to find one closer. The security is not that good they are very specific on not wing responsible for any loss and the lock to the room is just a regular lock and old.. So if you have expensive things not the place to be.

We considered warnings from experienced travelers to avoid this island altogether but wanted to see Phi Phi Lei for ourselves and also read the snorkelling would be good there. So, we booked 2 nights, which seemed like the minimum necessary to allow for travel to/from and a day trip around Maya Bay. It was the worst place we stayed on our 2 week vaca in Thailand, the island as well as the hotel. We felt like cattle arriving on the pier. The hotel gives free transfers from the pier but the boat driver made a group of us wait about a half an hour, in the heat, with our bags, for other visitors to get there (he could have brought the 6 of us to the hotel and came back for them in that time). Checking into the hotel, again, made us feel like cattle, took about 45 minutes. We got a "deal" on Agoda so weren't expecting a great room but after walking 10 minutes past the back path by the beaten up staff quarters and piles of trash, including broken toilets, we were given a cabana with a view of our neighbors septic system, hardly any screened windows (no AC), and no breeze as it was set between other cabanas and a hill, off the water. After a 10 minute walk back to the reception, in 90 degree weather, with our bags, without speaking a word the receptionist knowingly called the manager over. He tried to sell us another cabana but then gave us a free upgrade. The cabana we got had a great view but still lacked airflow. We had to call to have staff to change the sheets and pillow cases because they were visibly filthy. Not just stained, dirty. I couldn't pinpoint the taste of the shower water (just from licking my lips) but it was GROSS. poop or rust I'm not sure. The food was terrible, the worst I experienced in Thailand or anywhere else for awhile, so be sure to schedule your meals well because you are a boat ride/ 15 minute walk from other restaurants. The location was pretty ideal, though, being a walk or 3 minute boat ride from all the restaurants but far enough away to avoid crowds and get your own private beach. You still get the CONSTANT noise of boats passing by. If we were to spend more time, we would probably go for a hotel on the east or north side of the island but as we passed that area on our day trip there seemed to be a lot of boats up there too. Really, for Phi Phi, this probably isn't a bad hotel, probably better than average. I definitely wouldn't stay in the gross town, and Long Beach was no nicer than our own private beach. So 3 stars for location, the free upgrade, and the one guy in the restaurant who even attempted to bring us the correct food. No matter where you stay get ready for piles of trash (even on resort grounds no one takes responsibility), murky puddles, rancid smells and CROWDS. I would opt for just a day trip to Phi Phi Lei from Lanta or Krabi. p.s. the travel guy at this hotel is unacommodating, rude, useless. Wasted our time.
