The resort was great but seemed quite busy (despite not being anywhere near capacity) which detracted from the outstanding location and scenery. We arrived approaching the beautiful backdrop from our wooden long boat and were greeted with a delicious iced cocktail and cool hand towel upon arrival. A bit of a wait on checking in and out, but we were upgraded to a bigger villa (although had no basis of comparison against other villas at the resort).

The beach is amazing, perfectly clear and gentle, and beachside hammocks and bar are nice touches. However, the pool - mainly the swim-up bar during happy hour - seemed constantly full of people (perhaps we were spoilt having come from a secluded luxury resort in Phuket where we had the pool to ourselves - The Naka Phuket, who recommended the Outrigger to us as its sister hotel).

This resort provided all the usual food choices and had a buggy service throughout to ferry you around. We preferred to eat at the local village outside the back of the resort - worth an explore of the neon lights, food and local bars (who impressively undercut the resort with their happy hour). We dined at the popular village place on the right before the bridge, which was just as nice (but more basic) as the resort's more expensive thai restaurant. The resort breakfast had a good range but the guy cooking made-to-order eggs was so slow that the queue was long.

The room's dvd was not set up and cables were missing - we were annoyed to find this out after using the free dvd rental service. Wifi is also limited to the lobby area, and is not in rooms or at the pool/beach/bars/restaurants.

A nice two/three night's stay; has the potential to be amazing but wasn't. Just like another big resort.

Outrigger was definitely the best hotel we've stayed at in Thailand. Since the moment the hotel was revealed to my eyes from far away by long tail boat, my breathe was taken and it was hard to readjust. approximately 1KM spread with coconut trees white sand crystal water (although it is tiding down afternoon), 4 restaurants, huge amazing pool including inside bar. we came for our honeymoon and this is by far the most suitable hotel for that purpose, surrounded by peaceful couples. The rooms are well designed, comfortable with king size plus bad. There is a village just behind the resort offering chipper restaurants and activities however we didn't try them. The location is about 30 minutes in long tail boat from the pier and the boats are not always available (usually set time), so you are far away from most activities, restaurant and bars in the island. for us it was an advantage. few minuses you should be aware of: the mosquitoes were a huge burden, especially in the room. it would be helpful if the staff making up the room will spray it prior to guest arrival. same case in the reception and restaurants, especially in Reun Thai restaurant up on the hill where we found our-self leaving after half an hour due to bites. another issue is the hungry birds reaching your table during breakfast. I think that solving those 2 items will make this hotel more than perfect. All in all, heaven.

We stayed at the Outrigger for a few nights at the end of our Thailand holiday. Our room was beautiful, clean and spacious. The breakfast was amazing with a huge range of fresh foods and juices. For lunch and dinner we ate at the village behind the resort. The food at the village was delicious and very cheap compared to the resort prices. We really enjoyed the relaxed and fun atmosphere the bars and restaurants in the village offered. The resort pools were beautiful and we enjoyed relaxing by the pool sipping fresh coconut juice.

We came back this resort again for the 2nd time, it's again like a heaven. We enjoyed the island exploring tour around the island and see the beauty of Maya bay, snorkeling with fish and nice corals. Great breakfast, huge swimming pool, love Thai food at Ruenthai restaurant and Coconut Grill with the friendliness of staff. Green nature and private beach. We loves all staff and promise to be back soon.
