Phi Phi Hill Resort
We stayed here for 11 nights, two adults and two small kids. Relaxed, laid-back and friendly atmosphere, you end up talking to many of the guests, or watching thai boxing on TV with the staff.
The place has certainly improved since we visited it last 10 years ago. It has a much nicer garden and it offers lots of services (laundry, boat tickets, trips etc.). The view is still fantastic, and the restaurant simple, but has the best food on the beach. After a few days of trying around, we ended up eating all our meals here.
However, it’s a shame that they have done nothing about the cottages, they are exactly the same simple standard as 10 years ago. Small improvements, such as proper and better cleaning, removing the filthy rug by the bathroom door and replacing it with a clean towel, a couple of chairs to put the things on, reading lamps by the bed, some hangers on the walls, place to hang wet stuff to dry on the terrace… would make a big difference.
Good value for the money though (especially if they would make some of the improvements above). Long stair climb, but as you only do this once or twice a day we didn’t find it a problem, even with two small kids. LOTS OF mosquitos in the entire area (including the beach) so don’t forget to bring mosquito-repellent.

Room Tip: Sunset side bungolows are set in a nicer, better kept garden, while sunrise ones are in a bit “wilde...

We stayed at Phi Phi Hill for 3 nights and were impressed. The rooms are very big and the one we were in was well bug proofed (although that did not help with the noise they made at night - but this could not be helped and was due to the location!).

Two of the best features were the onsite restaurant and the boat trip to Maya Bay etc. The restaurant provided excellent value for money and the food was very tasty. The boat trip was also good value at 550 Baht p/p for the day, which included Bamboo Island and Maya Bay mixed in with some excellent bays which offered excellent snorkelling. The trip lasted from 9 through to 3 pm and we were able to snorkell in around 3 or 4 locations and not feel rushed at any stage. The fact the trip was done in a long boat added to the authenticity (far better than the speed boats you see at Maya Bay!!)

Location of the room was ok, Long Beach is very quiet, but the main town can be accessed via taxi boat for 100 Baht per person. The beach itself is also nice.

The only negative is the steps you have to climb from the beach to get to the resort itself!

Even though the bungalows are nicely located with a wonderful view it does not make up for the unfriendly and worthless staff. To be fair, some of the staff in the restaurant were ok but the ones int the reception and most of the ones in the restaurant seemed to think that the guests were just trouble. Most of the time they were quite unwilling to help and they often leaved us hanging when it was obvious that we were looking for some help. You won´t see them smile and they don´t even bother to say good bye when you check out. Therefore, I would recomend you to think twice before you book this hotel. Sure, it´s cheap, but I rather pay some more and be atleast ok treated.

We stayed at phi phi hill based on good reviews and a friend's recommendation. We went for the 750 bhat room - fan, cold shower, sunrise side. We paid for only 1 night upfront and thank goodness for that because we left the next day. First of all, that climb up to the resort sucks. If you want to prove to yourself that you're tough and the climb isn't that bad, good for you. But I think most people would agree that it just sucks. Secondly, the owner stuck us in the very last bungalow the furthest from anything even though I know other bungalows were free. But I didn't bother asking to move nor did I bother looking for an upgrade because the location just isn't good.
Long Beach is really beautiful - so just stay on the beach. Phi Phi Long Beach resort has cheap bungalows (they're cheap, but very small) just steps from the beach. And if you don't mind spending more, go to Paradise Resort.
Phi Phi is just expensive in general, so take the time to look at places and find something you really like that's worth the price to you.

We loved it here. Basic bungalows (book the sunrise, cheaper), but the restaurant has amazing views, and amazing food. The grounds were very nice, and the beach below is fantastic. Lots of stairs, but we stayed 5 nights and did just fine. We were worried about some of the bad reviews, but were very pleasantly surprised. Long beach is the best on Phi Phi Don, we didn't even bother going to Tonsai. Stay here, you won't regret it.

We stayed at this resort for 6 nights in February 2012. Our bungalow was 1st row with spectacular panoramic views over to Phi Phi Lay as well as Phi Phi Don. The actual accommodation is no frills and in need of some updating, but for us it was all about the location and views from the balcony which was simply breath taking.

The grounds are beautifully landscaped with an abundace of birds, butterflies and toads that sound like ducks....

The people who are running the resort were really kind and helpful to us and sorted out all of our queries as to what, where etc.

The breakfast and food that was served in the restaurant was very nice with a good choice for all tastes. The restaurant itself situated on the cliff edge with panoramic sea and island views.

The resort organises its own island boat trips which we took. This lasted 7 hours, which visited 4 different islands; Bamboo, Mosquito, Monkey and Phi Phi Lay, they also went around to the Lagoon. They supplied lunch, which was very substantial, and mask, snorkell and fins, all for 550Baht pp. The boat guy stopped in some brilliant areas for snorkelling and told us where to go - which was easily the best underwater scenery I have ever experienced...

Phi Phi Hill Resort is at the end of Long beach, which is a lovely place to stay to get away from the busy Tonsai village, which incidentely is great fun to experience but nice to walk away from , go back to the bungalow and relax on the balcony and soak up the incredible views...

If you like snorkelling, go out to the reef just off the beach at around high tide and you will see black tipped sharks which I was assured are harmless. During our stay there I saw over 70, which was just the best experience ever.

We loved this place and will definately be returning one day...

Room Tip: The 'Sunset Bungalows' offer the best views, 1st row being at the front, we had 'T1'...

We spent 5 nights in one of Phi Phi Hill's sunrise bungalows, which are great value on this beautiful but pricey little island. You have to get a longtail taxi here from Tonsai, BUT, just down the steps from the resort is one of the islands renowned snorkelling spots :) We saw all kinds of sealife here, including a reef shark, fabulous :) The sunrise rooms are basic but very comfortable, clean, and have plently of space. The resorts restaurant is pretty good and reasonably priced (the Tom Yam soup here was great). We found the staff pleasant and helpful.

Just to note, if you do decide to snorkel out to shark point watch out as there is sometimes quite a strong rip current between the pier and the point.... be safe!

Room Tip: Sunrise side is quiet and uncrowded, it's also a lot less pricey. The best sunset views are actu...
