“A Magical relaxing place to get away from the world.”
Reviewed 13 May 2012 via mobile

We stayed here for 14 nights. If you are looking for a simplistic holiday close to nature to get away from the world this is the place to go. Our days were spent lounging on the beach, snorkeling, jungle walking into the nearby town for a spot of shopping, the hardest part of our day was to decide what food to choose from the menu as all of the food was so tasty and fresh (after eating at the resort's restaurant nothing could compare) the food was top class. The beach bar was something to look forward to at the end of the day to sip cocktails watch the fire show and talk with the extremely friendly staff who by the end of our stay made us feel like family. Special thanks to Madame, guy, Nicolas, woo, George and boy. And all of the other staff we have not named for making our stay so special. What a special place, We will defiantly return.

George and Gemma.

Reviewed 6 May 2012

We stayed four nights in the middle of April and had a wonderful time. Before going, I was a bit in doubt whether I could live with the 'no hot water, no A/C, bugs' etc. But we really loved this place (except for the bugs). It was so amazingly beautiful- the beach was perfect and the water was so clear. Everyone working there as well as the other guests made our stay a great one. I loved the relaxed and laid back atmosphere. We lived in the Beach Bungalow no. 4 right on the beach. It was wonderful to be able to see the beach and hear the sea from our room. It was also nice with the breeze at night. We slept really well. I had read that many people said it's impossible to sleep in late because the fan goes off around 6 or 7 am but we slept until 10 most days. The beds were great and it was kinda cozy to sleep under the mosquito net. There were some holes in ours, so I think a few mosquitoes might have sneaked in but I had over 40 mosquito bites already anyway (I got those in Bangkok). I will strongly advise to use mosquito repellent from late afternoon and all night. There were many mosquitoes and I reacted quite strongly to them. My legs looked horrible. You don't notice them at all but they are for sure there!

On our second day there, we experienced a bit of a scare: tsunami warning. I must say the staff were great. They came and warned us as soon as they heard of the earthquake in Indonesia and shortly after everyone were on their way up the hill to the view point. We stayed up there for almost 5 hours (it got dark while we were there and we of course forgot the flash light!) but made our way down in a long line - all helping each other in the dark with the flash lights some people had brought - after we had been told it was safe to go down again. They were really looking out for us and luckily nothing happened.

The pros of the place:

Beautiful beach - wonderful water - great snorkeling place (many beautiful fish) - very friendly staff - you can get a massage there at a decent price - I got the oil massage which wasn't that great (the woman's hands were kinda rough and dry against my skin) - I guess I should have tried the thai massage instead. But it is nice that you can get a massage there. - wonderful bar (I loved the cocktails - the pina colada, long island ice tea and mai tai's were great) - great restaurant - the food was really delicious. - Beautiful landscape - beautiful view point - the nice bed, pillows and sea breeze. Wonderful atmosphere! - The many tours you could go on by long tail boat.
The bamboo huts were cozy.

I really didn't have an issue with the cold shower (as I thought I would have) or the lack of A/C since we had the fan at night and the sea breeze.

The cons:
I am not a big fan of bugs and because there were some holes in the bathroom, we did see several cockroaches, a few other bugs and a big spider.

A piece of advice: leave the light on at night when you go to the restaurant or bar - the nights we did that, we didn't see any bugs when we came back but the nights we didn't, the cockroaches had a party in our room! We also saw some bats when we sat outside on the porch in the early evening but when you turn on the light, they disappear.- and also: don't have any food in the room if you want to avoid bugs.

The mosquitoes really bothered me but I think they just particularly liked me, most other people didn't look like they got that many bites and my boyfriend didn't get many compared to me.

The bamboo hut walls are quite thin and the huts close to each other, so I felt that you could easily hear the neighbors - so not that much privacy. Not even when you went to the toilet. Also there were just a shower curtain out to the bathroom, so if you are staying with friends, you might not get much privacy in there. However, it wasn't a big issue for us.
---
Some tips:
Bring lots of sun lotion and mosquito repellent - wear good shoes or good sandals for hiking up the hill and bring some good books. Remember to take the flash light with you when going over to the restaurant at night - it is quite dark..
Take a shower in the late afternoon - at that time the water isn't completely cold (I guess it has been heated by the sun) and just feels refreshing after a day in the sun.
Bring your own snorkeling gear
Ask if you can borrow some beach towels at the reception - we got two which was great since we didn't bring our own.

All in all we actually didn't spend that much money at the resort considering everything we ate, drank etc. Of course things will be cheaper in Tonsai but I think the prices were fair.

If you want a short trip to the main city Tonsai to buy snacks or have a cheap massage or the like - just take the long tail boat in the morning - I think you could take it twice a day.

We also stayed a couple of nights at Phi Phi Island village resort and spa - and although the rooms there were greater and more luxurious we missed the relax beach resort - the atmosphere - the great and cheaper food - the bar and just the beauty of the place..
We will definitely be coming back again. And as the kind receptionist said to us (I forgot her name), we should come back next time with a baby :) (they love kids there - so if you have kids, it would be a good place to take them. Our next door neighbor had a baby and I think it was quite easy for them, having the beach right in front of their hut.

All in all: Just go - you won't regret it!

Room Tip: Choose bungalow no. 4 - we had a great view from our room

We stayed here for 2 nights, we should have booked longer, because it was great. clear water with lots of fish, great bungalows, relaxed atmosfeer, good food and nice trips with the longtailboat. I would defenitly go back there.
The american breakfast might be a big expencive for Thailand, but there is a lot of choise on the breakfastmenu that is much cheaper.
The food was great and the staff very friendly and relaxed.

We stayed here for 4 nights and I cannot stop telling all my friends about this place! A ‘shuttle’ long tail boat waits at the main ferry pier for the arrival of all big ferries from Phuket and Krabi. Within 20-30mins you will arrive to paradise! The bamboo huts look amazing as you arrive. So pretty! Our hut was ‘garden bungalow’ on the left side of the beach in the second row (G9) and it was perfect. Literally about 10 steps away from the beach, with a lovely view from our veranda. The huts are simple, but we loved it! Inside, there is a huge comfortable bed with a mosquito net and a rail and a bench for your clothes and luggage. The bathroom is simple and clean. Shampoo, shower gel and towels were provided. There is no hot water but that was not a problem for us. Electricity is on only between 6pm and 6am so make sure that you charge your cameras and phones then. You may want to bring the correct converter for your electrical appliances – they had only one at the reception and when it was gone, it was gone for the night. There is no aircon but we didn’t mind and didn’t feel hot. It cools down at night and the huts have plenty of openings so the breeze gets in.
There is nothing but the beach and jungle around. The beach is so pretty! It’s never too crowded; there are plenty of beach chairs and few lovely hammocks. You can easily spend couple of days just relaxing with a book and being lazy. Or you can go to one of the half day or day trips. We did the full day 4 islands trip which was a good value for money and it was really nice. It was just 8 of us on a long tail boat – we stopped at different places for snorkelling and sightseeing (Maya Bay, Monkey Beach, Bamboo Island, Mosquito Island and couple of snorkelling points). They provide lunch, fruit and water for you. I would definitely recommend this trip. The resort also offers half day island hopping trip, fishing trip or scuba diving trip. You can also take a hike up to the view point – there is a path through the jungle. It’s all natural so make sure you wear trainers as it does get quite challenging. It’s only about 30 -40mins to reach the view point and the view is definitely worth it!
There is amazing snorkelling just outside the huts with beautiful corals and colourful fish. If you can, bring your own snorkels or you can hire it for 50bath a day. Also BRING WATER SHOES – the water goes quite far when it is low tide and it does get difficult to even enter the water. Oh and make sure that you bring enough sunscreen – we run out at the same time as their little shop so that was no fun.
The food was delicious with a good selection of thai and western dishes. In the evenings, they have some fresh fish to choose from. After dinner, you can enjoy some lovely cocktails in their beach bar, listening to the waves and looking at the stars. Make sure to try their Mai Tai – it’s a work of art! The food and drink prices were reasonable and staff members were lovely and pleasant to us at all times.
I absolutely loved Phi Phi Relax and I am hoping to go back there one day.

We stayed in a coral beach bungalow for 3 nights in the middle of April. We loved it, the bungalow was really charming, a real beach shack with a touch of luxury !!!!! It was right on the beach and at high tide the sea was almost under it, could hear the waves all night accompanied by the sound of crickets.......fantastic. The bungalows have natural airconditioning, with the breeze blowing through, so much nicer than air con, no problems with the heat. They have really comfortable double beds and great mosquitonets that seal the bed completely. There was only Cold water but no problem, the bungalows were spotlessly clean.
The staff Are great, the food delicious, the beach wonderful, although it nearly disapears at high tide but then its really Good for swimming. The sunrise is wonderful......a really peacefull and great way to start the day. The porch with the day beds is great for napping in the shade in the middle of the day. The ocean is crystal clear and lots of colourful fish. There is nothing to do but relax and enjoy the nature, Good food and each other!!!!!! Would have liked to stay Even longer!! We stayed in bungalow c46 which was great, right at the end of the beach. Fantastic atmosphere.

Room Tip: Coral beach bungalow c46 or any of the beach bungalows.

to all the people who gave this a bad review. you obviously are looking for the hilton, westin, hyatt, fourseason or 5 star hotel snobville. this place is PARADISE. what i would give to come back here. this was by far the best place i stayed while in thailand for a month. staff were amazing. food was out of this world amazing. if you go here please try the prawn battered appitizer and spring rolls for me. its amazing. so good. we booked the coral beach room .... amazing. the boat ride... amazing. bed was clean, had mosquito nets, never got bit whatsoever. jsut cant be lazy to button up the nets unless you want to get bitten (your fault i believe so you shouldnt complain if your too lazy to even button up a mosquito net) the beach... amazing. snorkeling... amazing. the view.... good god... amazing. To be honest, this if for people who want to TRULY get away. secluded. your away from the hustle and bussle crowd of phi phi island. defenitly not a party place. great for familes with little ones, couples, honeymooners, backpackers, chillax people basically. again, please disregard all the bad comments about this place, those people have something up there @ss and dont appreciate true beauty. alcohol drinks were AMAZING!!!!!! i heart this place. one of the few i will come back and visit. staff were super sweet. nice people!

Room Tip: get the beachfront bungalows, they are worth every penny. this is the time to splurge i would say. m...

We were booked into the resort for 5 days, which ended up only to be 4. If the boat times were scheduled better we would of left on day 3.

1.) No where on the resorts web page does it say about the electricity cut outs during the day. Electricity starts at 6PM till 6AM. So there is no chance of even a nap during lunch time and to cool off in the room.

2.) The staff was so rude to us, and were not interested in trying to accomodate us with a quiry we had. When we ordered food the waitress through the plate of food on the table and rudely forced us to pay the bill from the previous night which we and everybody else would of settled.
THE STAFF HAS NO MANNERS AT ALL... THEY RUINED OUR HOLIDAY.

3.) No one told us that there is a boat transfer fee you have to pay to get to the resort.

4.) The resort is an absalutely money making scheme. It is built in such a way that you are forced to sit at the bar, restraunt or room during high tide.

Once we were there and met some other people they had the same problems as we had.
Its such a dissapointment we had when we were firstly approached by smiling happy friendly staff which was all a bluff.

Wont ever go there again!!!
