“Terrible experiance and totally ripped me off”
Reviewed 14 November 2011

I have been travelling for 8 months now and let me tell you, this is the worst place I have stayed so far.

As soon as i got off the ferry at the pier, I was led to an accomodation services area. For the first time in my travels, I hadnt pre-booked anywhere since a few other friends had said its pretty cheap to book somewhere when you arrive. There's heaps of accomodation there.

Anyway after speaking to this accomodation lot, I went for a place called 'White Hotel' - Agreed on the price and everything. Paid for accomodation etc and they then took me to this crap hole instead!

I paid 600 bhat a night - SO overpriced! I was paying 400 baht a night in Phuket Town for a 5 star place including HOT showers and Aircon & FREE Safe in room.

The leaflets advertise the place being on the beach, and free safe in the room and also showers. It doesnt tell me for my room it was COLD showers - the water was SO bad it stunk of sewage and it was salty!! The room was SO stuffy - the fan was ok but the stench in the rooms is AWFUL.

The internet, it said free wifi but there is no free wifi -you have to pay 100 bhat for internet even though you can get free internet at most accomodation including bars and restaurants you eat in phi phi. Even then, when i asked for internet they told me some rubbishmexcuse about it not being available although it was showing on my laptop as a wifi spot.

To top it all off, chckout day arrived and asked for the transfer service - and they wanted to charge me 100 bhat for wheeling my bag down to the pier even though upon arrival i was told its free transfer service.

This place is a joke and its horrible! would NOT recommend. Normally I'm fair in giving review but these guys are clearly a scam.

The guys at the reception were horrendous - always watching tv and rude.

We chose this place as the reviews were okay and it was in budget, and near to the pier. WHAT A BIG MISTAKE! When we arrived we were greated by a bunch of staff sat gossiping on a bench, the look we got when we checked in and the lady had to come and talk to us was unbelievable, anyone would have thought id walked in there front room and used thier toilet.

After being shown our room and bags thrown in it took a min for it to hit me, the room was aweful, cobwebs, mould and shoddy. No way was I staying there. I went back to reception to be greated by mrs miserable again and asked her to get someone to sort the room or move us. Her english had gone from okay to non existant in a matter of seconds. The maid came and said she couldnt clean the room as she didnt have time???!!! So i went back again, same woman, same attitude, this time i asked for the manager. We dont have a manager was the reply. Finally we agreed to let her show us another room with a view that if it was better to move. This room was marginally better but still dirty.
As there was no one further to complain to as they dont have a manager or anyone on hand we admitted defeat and unpacked. The shower was freezing cold salt water and the worst thing of all THE POOL WASNT OPEN!! That was the iceing on the cake.
Breakfast was bland and looked like it had been sat over night, there were around 8 staff all sitting down talking and smoking which is odd. Didnt eat at the hotel restraunt as it stunk all the time.
Wouldnt even bother looking here, plently more places for similar price or if you can pay a bit more for something better

We travel to Thailand end of July 2011 and stayed there all August. We stayed in 8 different hotels all together. As we had good and bad experience, we would like to share with people who just planning their Holliday, we hopping it will help to avoid mistake we had done. One of the really bad place we had stayed it is Chaokoh Phi Phi Lodge in Phi Phi Ireland, we booked it for 11 night (Deluxe Air Con room). Room dirty! No safe books in the room (it on the reception lobby and cost 20 THB every time you open it). They do not provide beach towels. Cable TV had only 2 English Channel which never work while we had stayed there. Often we had no face towels in the room. Air Con is old working very slow. Breakfast is buffet, but there is not much choice of food. People who work in the hotel very very unfriendly. Swimming pool open at 9 am till 8 pm, any way we never had a chance to jump in. Next day after we arrived they close down it for fix, and it never opened again. As they fix pool and they work all day till midnight, we couldn’t sleep well because of the noise. We never feel welcome. We had paid around 580$ with booking fee for 11 days, it is expensive for! Because they did not provide anything for this money. Shame to them! Definitely I would not recommend this hotel.

The (non-AC) room was a good size and clean, the bathroom was average: it could have been more 'scrubbed' but it wasn't dirty and, to be honest, if you want a 5* accommodation then go up the road and pay for it there! For the money (TB1000 per night including breakfast) it was fine: quiet at night but only 5 minutes walk away from the centre of Phi Phi bar areas. Some other hotels we popped into before settling here were charging TB2000 upwards which, for fairly bland places in low season, is daylight robbery!

Negatives: (A) breakfast isn't great: coffee, ham in water, eggs, some fruit. (B) Our room was on the right hand side of the complex near the staff area and the staff would be outside sweeping and talking loudly to each other at 7:30am, also they'd congregate around this area and sometimes we'd walk back to our room to find them sitting on the bench outside it chatting which wasn't ideal. (C) the girls on the restaurant staff (which isn't directly owned by the hotel but it's the one they use for breakfast) need to learn how to smile and not look like they are there being forced to do community service! (D) Nice pool but only 5 sunbeds around it which get grabbed quite quickly so if you're planning any chill time there get one early!

First impression of the hotel wasn't too bad - it looks nice from the outside, has a little swimming pool, and it is near almost everything. BUT:
1) no free internet
2) the air-conditioning leaks. the amount of water it leaks filled my 1.5L bottle overnight and overflowed. and the sound of water dripping into the bottle is probably the worst lullaby.
3) the toilet smells of, er, sewage. we did all we can to get rid of it, to no avail.
4) i can't fully close the curtain; anyone passing by can peep in.
5) the reception staff is amazingly unhelpful. the word that i heard the most from them is NO, NO HAVE, or DON'T KNOW, even when i was desperately searching for my wallet.
6) one last thing - the tree that you have to pass by when you go back to your rooms has a lot of cicadas on it. and they keep spraying fluid throughout the day. be prepared to be bathed in cicada secretions.

The hotel is perferctly positioned on Phi Phi.. Just a few metres from the waterfront and near the main centre of the village and shopping area. The party bars are on the beach at the other side which makes them close enough to get to but far enough away to avoid the all-night noise at the hotel. Buffet breakfast is the usual good variety for Thai hotels and the restaurant has a spectacular view across Tonsai Bay.

However, the hotel does not provide tea or coffee or even a kettle in the rooms so they lose big points for that. Other hotels in Thailand in this price range provide bottled water - this one doesn't and you wouldn't drink tap water on Phi Phi unless you were broke, so that also has to be purchased.

Nice pool area but they only have five deck chairs for the whole of the resort. We often saw the guests coming for a lie down by the pool and then walking away because there were no chairs and the ground is too hot.

We paid an extra 700 baht per night for an air conditioned room and it leaked down inside the room and completely saturated some of my clothes. It should have an external outlet for condensation but it just dripped internally instead.

WiFi is expensive but many nearby restaurants provide free wifi.

Hotels managed like this have the potential to get much better reviews but let themselves down but not taking care of some of the minor details that can affect a guest's stay.

Room Tip: Check the room inside and out before you accept it

After spending ages reading reviews on accomodation on Phi Phi, and reading the same thing on every site (that the quality of rooms wherever you stay on the island is rubbish) I wasn't really expecting much for my £20-a-night-double.
But I was very pleasantly surprised. Reception is very clean, airy, and nicely tiled. We checked in quickly and without hassle (have to pay 500B key deposit) and when we were looking a bit lost finding our room a kind, friendly lady member of staff showed us the way.
The room was spacious, and had a tv and wardrobe. HUGE double bed with lovely clean fresh linen on it and made up to look really nice. Tile floor and ceiling fan, with large windows that could be opened to let in the gorgeous sun and fresh air. The bathroom was the only let down to the room - it looked really old and tired in comparison to the rest of the room. The sink leaked onto the floor (tiled, so no problem really) and the shower wasn't all that great. It was a "natural" shower too, the water was one set temperature (cool) and it was a bit salty. But after a long day in the sun, a cool shower is very refreshing!
Lovely grounds around the rooms and there was a very nice looking (but small) pool too.
Breakfast was included, it was buffet style and had orange/pineapple juice, tea/coffee, corn flakes, museli, fresh fruit, pancakes, and the usual ham, eggs and toast. The restaurant is right on the beach front too so you can enjoy the fabulous view while listening to summer-y music as you eat.
The location was great, just a few minutes walk from the pier (no steps or hills) and not far from anything at all. At night we could hear no music from any of the bars.

Room Tip: Air con is a must, it's SO hot on Phi Phi!
