After booking at Krabi Port with an agent we arrived with high hopes of our 'Deluxe Air-Con Room' at the Lodge @ 1600 THB Per night for 2 nights. We were greeted at the port by a mute porter who took us to the reception on the main drag of Ton Sai Bay.
We were greeted by rather kurt staff who were only interested in telling us we had to leave a 500THB deposit for our room key. We were then taken to our room and were frankly shocked at the 'deluxness' of it all. The room was damp, badly decorated, poorly furnished and the bed sheets were clean but stained.
The bathroom was frankly awful. The toilet had a constant leak that made the place smell, the water was salt water, the shower was a salty dribble - in fact you had to get out of the bath and stand on a ledge to catch the dribble. There was no shower curtain and the sink was cracked. The tinted windows gave the impression it was always dark outside and the gaps in the door and fan allowed Mosi's in all night. When we enquired about the non-working safe we were informed 'a lot are like that' and another 20BHT would buy us a locker in the open foyer at reception.
We were so happy to leave, and the one redeeming act of kindness we received was being given a rain-mac to walk to the ferry in the morning.
On the whole, it matched our experience of Phi Phi, overrun, under-managed, expensive, unfriendly and lacking personality and soul. Not a sniff of the famous Thai hospitality and we didn't look back.
Check out the pic's.

we booked this hotel through an agent in krabi as we were worried after talking to people who had come from phi phi saying that it was really busy no rooms etc and since we were travelling with our 9 year old son wanted somewhere to stay.
room was 1800 for triple stayed 2 nights. not a very attractive room, safe didn't work no fridge but clean. the pool is salt water as is the shower (hair never looked so bad) staff aren't very friendly but this seems to be a general thing on the island nobody smiles and even in restauraunts we felt sort of unwelcome!
phi phi is scenicly amazing a really beautiful place and worth the visit but i don't think i'd go again as i feel our experience was tainted by unfriendly, unwelcoming locals.

We thought all these places on Koh Phi Phi would be much the same. We were wrong. Apparently this place has suffered since the Tsunami, but it looks so dated. Imagine avocado rooms, bathrooms with cold salt water, dripping air conditioners (so bad we had to move the bed from the wall).

And we paid 1600 baht for this. 2000 baht the next night bought us a lovely room 10 times better at the Phi Phi Palmtree Hotel.

To start with, the lady at the front desk was not friendly, they couldn't take credit cards, as she said the lines weren't working and she had no idea when(if) they would be working- this actually ended up being a blessing. It was fairly expensive for a small room and charged us 500 baht for an extra bed, which really made it cramped. First room we went into had a leaking air conditioner, which they just put a towel on the floor to stop flooding, and second room we went into smelled really bad. When we mentioned it, they sent in a lady who sprayed air-freshener and then left. We found if we covered the drain in the bathroom it seemed to help quite a bit. We went into the pool and to our surprise it was filled with salt-water, which was almost as much of a shock as when we took a shower - same-same. They will try to tell you that the water is like that island wide, but found out from a local that the water is just REALLY expensive, so it seems like it was a money-saving plan by the hotel. These rooms look like they were shabbily put up after the tsunami, like the rest of the little town seems to have been. Needless to say, we had planned on staying 3 nights, but grabbed the ferry the next morning. Good thing they didn't take my credit card. In all honesty, try to stay away from the main area, or take day trips to the Island as everything is just jam packed with people and businesses. Only place in Thailand we had people not even smilimg while serving you food or taking your order.
