This hotel is in a great location, within walking distance to the main part of the island a short walk to one of the view points and close to the beaches.

The rooms are big and comfy, air conditioning takes a little while to kick in but then colls the room great. You have to walk up severl sets of steps to get to any of the rooms but when your up there the view is amazing!
The staff carry your bags up so you just need to get your self up the steps. We don't get breakfast we wander into town for cereal and yoghurt from the coffee & book shop (go early to beat the flies out of bed).

The pool is average size we didn't spend much time at the pool as the beaches are lovely on this island. The sun beds are in need of replacing and we did mention this to the staff so hopefully on our next visit they will have replaced them.

The closest beach, Maya bay, is the busiest but there's still plenty beach and beds available. This bay is very still, I wouldn't swin in this one as its the one next to the sewage cycle release into the sea. Theres plenty of kayak places its worth getting one out and kayaking round to the little bay where you can feed the monkeys banana's, go early as the tours start here about 10-11am.
Maya bay also has great bars at night with fire shows, the beers cheap and the entertainment of the tourist joining in fire stick limbo is fun to watch (don't do it if your drunk plenty of burnt people around the island the next day). These bars stay open until 1am then the music shuts down so if you can hear them from you room its not an all night noise it stops on the dot at 1am.

Best beach is probably long beach you can get a longtail round for about 100 baht per person and its only about ten minutes away it's huge very clean and much quieter than maya bay. theres a slide pontoon out at sea its great and the water is clean calm and very refreshing. There are plenty of little restaurants here on this beach very reasonable and great food offered.

FOOD; You MUST eat at PADDY's aka GBPP they have excellent thi food & the best gourmet burgers, also try the frozen strawberry daquiri its to die for! The food and drinks are extremley reasonable, great atmosphere and the owner is a really friendly guy, we have eaten there everytime we go to Phi Phi and he always remembers us.
Also try the Cozmo Italina the pizza are super cheap and really tasty (get one between two we we're stuffed on half each), they have two restaurants one is near GBPP and the other is near the main exchange bank go to either as they get busy in one more than the other.
CIA BELLA - excellent seafood restaurant, pasta italian etc (survived tsunami even have books about them) excellent food a little relaxed on service but the price was good too.

This is a fairly basic hotel but at luxury hotel prices. The room was okay but the bathroom looked like a camping bathroom with a trickle for a shower and the toiletries supplied were rubbish. The location is close to the beach so we had a great view from the room but this meant it was extremely noisy until 1:30am when the clubs would close, it sounded like the club was in the room as the noise travelled up the hill.

I have never stayed in a worse hotel in my life. To list some reasons:
- overpriced (£90 per night over Xmas season) for a room you could not pay me to stay in
- dirty
- bags of rubbish left outside our room for the entire time attracting vermin, despite us requesting they move them
- no hot water
- about 500 steep (and broken) steps to your room (in the dark)
- techno music blaring through the night from local club (which on later inspection was found to be empty)
- open windows in the bathroom to let swarms of mosquitos in
- very small pool (despite the promises on the website); over-chlorinated and grimy; sun loungers were rotting with wood worm. In a room with over 50 rooms no one chose to go in the pool during our stay
- despite paying up front and losing our money we left early, disappointed and in disgust
- the unhelpful receptionist cheerfully told us that we were not the first to leave early
- the general surrounding area of the hotel is unpleasant with bags of rubbish everywhere; and in close proximity to an open top sewer (you can imagine the smell)

PLEASE PLEASE think twice before you waste your money and ruin your holiday, this hotel will really let you down. We have also contacted lonely planet to let them know that the hotel has clearly slipped a lot since their last review as we initially booked it having read thier rave reviews. This is one they got very wrong, and I have never had a problem with Lonely Planet in the past.
