my wife and I stayed here for 5 nights, we booked a seaview bungalow but it is not at sea,
blankets were not available, we have to sleep under towels(their policy?)
the management was not friendly only nice situated but overpriced and the photos on their website are misleading

I stayed at various hotels in a similar price range over two weeks traveling in Thailand and this hotel was by far the worse place I have ever been to.

The first room I was allocated had blocked sewage and there was an awful smell in the room. It took them a nice few hours before I was given another room, this time with cockroaches in a dirty bathroom and used beds. The mattresses were considerably used and old, not comfortable to sleep there at all.

On my last day, they accused me also of stealing three towels; I think it’s what they do there to charge people more money. I told them that I have not stolen their towels (which were heavily used), but they did not believe me.

The next thing I knew was that my keys and watch was stolen from the hotel safe and it was amazing to find it behind the hotel manager’s desk!!! I think they took it from my safe in return for the three towels.

I am a well traveled person and altogether the rooms and the attitude of staff at this place was very very poor. I would not recommend it to anyone from this experience.

After a coach and ferry ride arriving at 8 AM this place gave us all the comforts we needed. Stayed in a room a bit further inland which was medium sized (double bed and single bed) a bathroom with a bath. Clean, comfortable, nice. Not within our backpacker budget (1300 B for 2 people, about ten pounds each) But if you just want to crash somewhere that you can be confident will be clean and nice, worth it!

After arriving by ferry to Koh Tao with nowhere to stay, we were approached by a very helpful taxi driver who asked where we wanted to go. When we told him we had nowhere booked, he asked us what sort of thing we were looking for and took us to Sairee Huts.

They have direct beach access and are located off the main road which seemed ideal - just what we were hoping for. We asked if they had anything available and were shown to a bungalow very close to the beach. It was a bit dark, drab and basic so we asked if they had anything a bit better. We were then taken to another bungalow, not so close to the beach and from the outside it certainly looked newer and fresher than the previous. Inside looked fairly good too having a large bedroom, a double and a single bed and still plenty of space. It was sparcely furnished but adequate. Our main criteria was that it should have aircon which it did, along with a ceiling fan. There was a fridge in the room containing a couple of bottles of water, but that was it - no extras. The bathroom was big and the shower had hot and cold water but there was absolutely nowhere to store toiletries, not even a toothbrush. 2000 baht a night seemed a lot, especially as it didn't include breakfast, but the location was perfect, it was clean and we decided to take it.

We were in Koh Tao for 5 nights, but we left Sairee Huts after just one. Unfortunately, the aircon unit wasn't effective enough for the size of the room and we cooked! Coupled with the fact that the rock hard bed still had plastic sheeting over it covered by a paper thin sheet which constantly slid off, we decided to move on.

Sairee Huts isn't a bad place, but maybe 1000 baht a night instead of 2000 would have been a more reasonable price. We moved on to Ko Tao resort (see separate review) where we had a beautiful room with all added extras (TV, minibar, bathroom amenites) and breakfast for 2500 baht a night.
