My partner and I stayed here 2 nights in early October. The staff are not that friendly, they are very lazy, we arrived to a dirty cloth on the floor of our bathroom too.
Our rrom was near the toilets for the pool area and there was a terrible smell of urine. Breakfast was not great, covered in flies which was not appealing.
The view is breathtaking, but the hotel has no part to play with that!
All in all, I wouldnt return.

The reviews of the hotel were not too bad and they had a discount offer on so we thought let´s give it a go... The hotel looked nice and the location was not too bad, up on a hill, 5 minute walk to the beach, beautiful view...we stayed two nights and when you´re not diving, two days are absolutely enough on ko tao, because there´s not really much to do...If the service would have been better and the staff would have been friendlier, that could have been a really nice stay

If read in companion with my review of sister resort Ko Tao resort, here is the take-home message: Ko Tao resort, because of its beachside location is the better pick.

I usually dismiss comments about stairs and hills as arising from people who are not in good shape. However, such dismissal is not warranted for this resort. There really are better than 100 steps, if I had to guess, to get to the reception. This is not an issue if the shuttle is available. But try arriving home when the shuttle is not around, especially after a drink or two: Not good times.

The Paradise Zone does have free internet and a nice pool scene. Really, the pools, while not tremendously large have a fantastic view.

It is a new resort and it shows. An interesting thing about the resort is that different rooms exist in different enclaves of the resort. You wouldn't have found one of our rooms if not shown to it.

I believe the restaurant served the same food as the sister resort, and we had free breakfast. The free breakfast buffet was good, not spectacular, but good.

Paradise Zone is not perfect. We were shown a room and then another in a less desirable location was given. We didn't appreciate this, and the front desk ladies not only didn't care about our objection, but proceeded to let the Ko Tao Resort reception girls same. Really professional, eh? However, I have a thick skin for people who are intolerant of others who won't be manipulated.

You will likely also have the same problems getting around the island that exist at Ko Tao Resort. We were quoted 1000 Baht for a far less expensive trip. 2 other groups independently had the same issue. Thus, at Ko Tao Resort, as was often the case in the southern Thai islands, we had to live by the motto: "Don't believe everything your hotel tells you", which is probably wisely applied consistently.

At the end of the day, this new resort is expensive, up on a hill and doesn't provide a whole lot that Ko Tao Resort (the best comparitor) does. With the room switch and long hike, this hotel is rated three stars here, although it could easily make four.

we booked the luxury paradise room one of the most expensive if not thee most expensive room in the place. in the photos this look amazing with a large L shaped balcony with table and chairs for 4 two loungers and a big jacuzzi bathrub built up in to a wooden pavillion the room in the pic looked fantastic having a lounge area and to large double beds with TV and DVD player. however when we arrive we went to the room and there was no L shaped balcony; there was no rooom for the table and chairs let alone the loungers on the balcony and there was no lounge area.. we complained and were shown several rooms which were no way near the standard. and then it was explained that there are two luxury paradise rooms 520 which is in the pics and 517 which is not. very different rooms with the same name. they then offered us another room at the standard ko tao resrot (not paradise zone) it had similar facilities the the paradise zone but older and tattier. however they wanted to charge us the same rate we were paying in the paradise zone and refused to give us any discount for the inferior room. we also had a couple next to us making a similar complaint they also had blood all over there sheets.. (nice) it's seems from the reviews that most people have a fantastic time. and i think if we had being paying standard price for the stadard room or been giving room 520 we would have been very pleased. however this didn't happen and the staff were very unwilling to help in anyway and offered no apology. we did get a full refund and left.

Very annoyed with the place!

Clean and functioning hotel with a great view. Otherwise the double room (the hotel has a number of different room types, I think ours was standard) was a little bit of a disappointment. The room was small and the hot water-system was a bit annoying - for environmental reasons they say, they use the energy from air conditiong to heat up the water. According to directions having the ac on for 20 minutes should provide enough hot water for showering. This however, does not work completely - in order to get enough hot water for 2 people to shower for a few minutes each we had to keep the ac on a full mode on the lowest possible temperature for at least an hour which means the room turned in to a freezer and you could not stay in the room unless you open the balcony door. Maybe not that environmental friendly system after all.

The hotel is on a top of a steep hill, it's not that big of a problem but prepare to climb it up a few times especially late at night - the gate is not necessarily open or the taxi's refuse to drive up there. I have no idea why they do not want to drive up there since all the taxi's on the island are fairly new 4-wheel drives and should not have problem with the hill.

The service at the restaurant was most times very good, but food average or below.
Reception staff was not all that friendly and when leaving we had some problems with the payments - we asked to be charged in THB on our credit card but the receptionist said it is not possible and charged us in EUR. When we got the receipt, it stated that by signing it we have agreed that we've been given a change to pay in THB but we have chosen EUR! We did not have the time to stay there to make them fix this because we had a boat to catch but we lost approximately 30 euros because of this. It appeared the receptions made this on purpose because after we realized what happend she did offer to cancel the transaction and make a new one but stressed that it is going to take some time - she knew very well what time our boat was leaving. What was notable in this hotel that non of the staff was Thai but all Burmese. The Burmese service attitude clearly differs from Thai service.

I would stay in this hotel again if given a very attractive rate but not with full rate, it is not worth it - there are several places on the island with easier access with the same rate.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here over New year 2008, the hotel is lovely located at the top of a mountain, the staff are friendly the rooms are clean. The pool is amazing with a great view, although it rained the whole time we were here!! I do think for Koh Tao prices this is very expensive, you could probably rent a private villa somewhere else in Thailand for the same price. The only complaint I have about this hotel is the restaurant. We were here for 3 nights and did not have a nice meal here, you would think for this type of hotel the food would be nice. It always came out cold and was cooked badly. Even the Thai food wasn't very nice here. Other than that would recommend this hotel!

My family and I (3 adults) stayed at the Ko Tao Paradise zone for 10 nights - the first 5 nights in a Deluxe Family room and the remainder in a Paradise Seaview room.
We were very happy with our stay - all the staff were lovely and very helpful. They were even so kind as to arrange some flowers for my mum's birthday.
The rooms were perfect, clean and very comfortable. The pool was definitely the highlight - it's gorgeous! The views over Chalok bay and Shark bay were stunning. And although we heard that the resort was full over Christmas, it never felt that way. There is enough space here for double the capacity - plenty of sunloungers (not all around the pool) and lots of tables in the restaurant; the best ones overlooking the bay. Although it was peak season, we often felt like we had the place to ourselves!
I read a few reviews before going, but I disagree about it's difficult location up a steep hill. There were regular shuttles from the main resort, and it wasn't such a bad walk if you felt like toning up the legs! I don't think the hill should dissuade anyone from coming here. The resort is so special and you can see how much work and care has gone into the place and tending all the beautiful plants and flowers around it.
One thing I don't remember reading before is about the massage service - my Mum enjoyed the best massages of her life with the lovely ladies in the massage hut. They charge 300 baht (€6) per hour like anywhere else on the island but they often ask you to stay for a 2 hour session no extra charge!
There was free internet access too, although it was sometimes quite slow.
The breakfast was good enough, but after a few days we noticed the lack of variety. But it was always fresh.
The restaurant was great - the menu was really broad with plenty of Thai and western dishes available and fresh fish you could pick out yourself. We didn't have one bad meal here. My only criticism is that their wine list was limited and they only seemed to have the most expensive wines available. Also the staff were sometimes a little too eager to clear the table - this was annoying but something some better training would surely improve.
