If you look for a quiet and exotic vacation, this is the place for you!!
The resort seats in a private golf and private wide beach that no one can interfere you.
it feels like you are in the middle of the jungle but with a very good facilities, the accommodation is new and well decorated but we had some days a problems with the hot water.
The restaurant is very good and has a variety of food but the breakfast was quiet poor if you compare it to other hotels in Thailand.
The stuff (most of it) was very nice and very Luxurious.
If you want to see a little bit more touristic places, you have shuttles 3 times a day.
another thing was disappointing, they had construction in the resort and they promised to end it after few days but actually it was almost until we left.

We recently stayed at Haad Tien from 7th-12 Jan, we absolutely loved it. We travelled around majority of the island and I can honestly say that this appears to be the best resort primarily because it has it's own private beach which is beautiful. Many of the resorts in Koh Tao are not beach front. And the resort is really nice, we were upgraded to hideaway villa because of building next to cottage. Our room was simple but perfect for what we wanted, nice deck for evening drinks or afternoon reading.

The resort is really beautiful, not 'hotely' as such individual bures.

The food at the hotel was really nice, we ate their 2 nights and went out 3 nights into Sairee beach. I highly reccomend the Su Chilli restaurant opposite Sairee Sairee Brassaire.

The hotel has a shuttle that goes to the pier 3 times a day, we would normally catch the 6.30pm shuttle in, have a massage (plenty at the pier or Sairee) then have dinner and catch the 930pm shuttle back or taxi back.

We also rented a scooter which was really good for exploring the island and getting into town- some of the roads are more 4wd tracks though
so be careful, can be a bit scary.

We also did a snorkelling tour which was goid except it was to rough to ho around the island which was a shame. First stop on the tour is Shark Bay where the hotel is- no nice coral but you can occasionally spot a black tip shark.

Overall great experience, koh Tao is really nice, much nice than Koh Samui.

the resort here is really beautiful. filled with wealthy families and tucked away from the rest of the island. if you want to relax with your kids, this is great. but as a 30-something traveling with friends, it didn't have the right vibe for us. and the staff was not helpful at all. they had a hard time helping us with any excursions.

A big group of us stayed at Haad Tien from over New Years and loved every minute of our time there.

The service was fantastic, especially Mr. Kamran who made sure that every whim and fancy of ours was catered to and spoke fluent English so nothing was lost in translation!

The location of this resort is another big plus- great beachfront with powdery white sands and clear waters. Of course, you cant have it all and so this means that its not exactly walking distance from town - but if you rent two-wheelers, or use the hotel complimentary shuttle (three times a day)- you are sorted! and cabs are very easily availbale as well.

All in all- a fabulous place to stay and well worth the price. Lovely beach bar, kayaking facilities, and they will even organise snorklelling trips for you.

Thanks kamran- for all your help!

We were a group and stayed over new years (from 29th Dec to 1st Jan, 2012). The rooms were lovely, the pool inviting and the sea calm and blue. We had a terrific time. No complaints about the service (except that I agree the staff looks a bit grouchy at breakfast). The staff were very helpful and the food at the beach bar was great, even though limited in variety.
Special thanks to Kamran who went out of his way to organise everything that we wanted - right from a picnic lunch to hiring a boat the entire day for snorkeling, to changing ferry tickets, organising new year party etc - everything met to perfection, efficiently and willingly ....
We also noticed that amongst all the resorts that we saw on the island from our boat, haad tein had the longest stretch of beach ...
I would go there again, with family or a bunch of friends for another holiday...

Room Tip: If you are not too fussy, the hideaway rooms are not too far from the beach and ours had a view of t...

Costly, hard to get too, and very poor service. For a hotel situated on the far side of the island I expected much better service for calling taxis and help with seetting up activities on the island. When we asked for help setting up SCUBA certification it was like we were asking for a flight to the moon. Eventially we were handed a cell phone to talk to a guy about it. This seems strange for me on an island that is more or less dedicated to SCUBA. The $40 breakfast for two was more than we spent on food for lunch and dinner on the other parts fo the island and was nothing special. It was also strange that althouh there were more servers than guests getting a cup of coffee was strangely difficult. We were also surprised with the rooms and views. Although very clean they are basically small shacks with partial views of the ocean which was frustrating for the cost of these places. Lastly ONLY STAY HERE if you like kids. At least 75% of the groups at the hotel had kids. Overall I would suggest staying almost anywhere else on the island.

My wife and I were so impressed with the beach. Powdery sand and shade trees. Swim 50 meters from the beach and you're right where tour companies bring people to snorkel and dive. Being from Colorado, I was mesmerized! All sorts of fish and colorful coral. The conditions weren't even good I was told. I swam around the little bay for hours and felt safe (I'm terrified of the ocean). The hut we stayed in was super clean and comfortable. The food was good. Their Thai was better than their western foods. The staff was helpful and friendly. The resort is not that far from the town! They even provide you with free rides. I'd rather stay here than one of the resorts near the docks any day of the week. I read the other reviews and location seemed to be an issue, which I can understand. We only stayed for 2 nights and 3 days, so we were OK with not needing to go to town all the time. It depends why you would come here....swim and beach or sitting at ex-pat bars....This is an ideal resort for a family. Although the resort itself was more than adequate, the location is what made it so fresh.

Room Tip: ask for a unit that is not on a main walking path so you don't have people walking right past yo...
