As high end resorts go, this would be classified as mediocre on the hotel front, but the dive facilities were phenomenal.

I have nothing to say about the accommodation that hasn't been said already, but the dive shop...that's a different story.

As a keen recreational diver, i am often let down by places like this. Fortunately the good people at Dive wishes broke this stereotype spectacularly. The place was very professionally organised, dive times were more flexible than anywhere I've ever stayed before and the staff, particularly the shop manager, were incredibly helpful and bent over backwards to meet our every need and request. If your looking for top notch 'fine vacationing' then this may not be the place for you...but, if you're looking for somewhere to stay in comfort and enjoy some of the most beautiful dive scenery one can imagine then this place would be worthy of a 6 star rating!

My recent experience with Haad Tien Beach Resort - specifically my experience with the Scuba shop "Dive Wishes" - has to be one of the best experiences I have ever had.
My spouse and I have been travelling for a few months and Koh Tao was our last stop before heading home to the real world. haha
We had planned to do a snorkeling trip (it was on our wish list of things to do on this incredible island) and we couldn't have been more impressed with the staff, service and hotel in general.
Krista at Dive Wishes was extremely helpful, fun and kind. She convinced us to try out a dive experience - and we are so glad we did! We are hooked! We cannot speak kindly enough about Krista (the shop manager) and Tom (the shop owner). These excursions were by far the highlight of our trip.
The resort itself is beautiful. The pictures really don't do it justice.
If you are planning a trip to Kph Tao - be sure to make this your destination!!

This is a resort full of potential but with poor management. There are 3 dogs running around guests at beach and restaurants, and even after complaining we were told they are friendly and have always been at the resort. Well guess what...this is a 4 star place charging european prices so i dont care if the dogs are friendly or not!! Also, the resort has security problems with strangers walking freely through it to access the beach. I even witnessed a couple of snorklers breaking through the fence next to the spa...

Many thanks for the review in regards to the Dogs,
the resort has a good team of Managment,
the dogs have been here before the resort opened and have been adopted if you like, remove these dogs then others will take over, they are well taken care of, and do no harm to guests, another pack of dogs may not be the same.
my apologies if you feel they were anoying, and should not be at the resort.
the security problems we deal with this daily, correct we have seen the guest coming through the spa fence they broke it down, how sad this is as well educated western people doing such things, damaging other people properties, we have fixed this fence, on numerous times to stop them coming. thank you for bring this to our attention.

We stayed for a week on the Haad Tien resort and can only recommend it. The rounded bungalows with glass walls and a private „sundowner“ are awesome. Cleanliness has been kept at top level all the time. We found the bungalows in the second row, set back a little from the sea front, offered more privacy and are worth the short extra walk. Restaurant and beach bar offer very tasty meals, both Thai and European and the view over the bay is great. Service is impeccable. Snorkelling begins right at the beach and will keep you busy for hours. There is a free shuttle service to Mae Haad (where the port is), from where you can explore Koh Tao. If you want to walk to Sairee beach from Mae Haad, take the pedestrian walkway which starts at the Café del Sol on the main street (not signposted). Don’t try walking on the main street, certainly not after dark.

The Haad (or the Hat as i called it)

I bought myself a straw hat for the occasion, o'boy was this a lovely stay. The wooden bungalows take you in to a world of relaxation. I and my girlfriend are divers but this tour we just made 2 dives during the whole week. We were here to get pampered and choose The Haad due to its rating and higher end reviews. Fantastic choice if you want real time service in a tranquil environment that never experience stress.
The resort has it all, fast service, great location but what i loved the most was to fall asleep feeling like Winnie The Poo surrounded by expensive wood and my best friend and honey.

Spent 10 nights at the Haad Tien as part of our honeymoon trip to Thailand. Mixed thoughts on this hotel really. We got the castaway villa which was lovely and right on the beach but we were a bit annoyed that as a public beach, there were days when there were loads of people on the beach in front of our hut with a view straight into our room. Staff are friendly but was not impressed with the receptionists as they were very gloomy, hardly smiled and were not overly helpful. Be aware this is not a hotel for people who like to stay up late and have a few drinks, everything is shut by about 10 PM, reception closes, there is no room service or anything else beyond 10 PM so you are on your own until morning! Found that very odd, that the bar closes at 7 and the restaurant at 10?!!! The other thing that drove me crazy was the restaurant in the morning...it is swarmed with flies as it is open aired and clearly nothing is done to deter them so you end up eating with flies trying to attack your plate and you can see them sitting on the food in the buffet as 50% of it is not covered so that really limited what we could eat as we were concerned about germs from the flies. WIFI is not great either and drops off constanly, and one other thing is that they give you 2 tiny bottles of water per day in the room which is like 10% of what you really need so you are constantly forced to use water in the minibar that you have to pay for. To be honest even though we had a good time overall I felt the photos of the castaway villa on their website made it look a lot better than it was. In fact there is a row of them all quite close to each other with people on the beach in front of you so its not as private as the photos made out. All in all it was good but I would not return as I thought for what it was, its over priced and the service was not that great.

Dear Both,
Many thanks for your reviw and your honest opinions, much apreciated. the haad tien is based on a great beach, certain days we do have outsider geusts coeming onto the beach, most days we ask them to move away from our reosrt border line and those who walk into the property we ask them to leave.
our apologies for the not so freindly front office staff, we have discussed with them on this matter.
recption close at 12 midnight each day and myself the manager is on call 24 hrs for anyone who needs assitance as i live on iste.
restaurant closing times are last orders at 10:30 or later this depends on the guests, normaly closes around 11pm later if required, this also applies for room service, Beach bar will close at 9pm, happy hours are up until 7pm them drinks are still offfered until 9pm.
breakfast, certain days we seem to have flies, there is a pest control system in place, and the restaurant is cleaned daily , additional covers are being added as we did have a cover for all food items.
water in the rooms, we do offer two bottles correct, most guest ask for a refil and we do service their requests, apologies for these points you mentioned .
thank you for your review.
Best regards, the Managment.

The haad tien is the most expensive hotel in koh tao.... but only the 10th on trip advisor. If the hotel has a great location on a paradisiac beach, far from the busy kho tao city, the beach is not private, and full of tourist of others resorts.
The hotel has good installation, nice room, especially the one on the beach or with a private pool, but the service is so awfull that it will ruin your stay there.
It starts from the check in, where the employee (especially the eastern european one) are absolutely not friendly. It continues with the restaurant, as bad as expensive, but as the hotel is far from the city , you are like in a jail.... the hotel promised a shuttle service, in fact only 2 shuttles a day.
service is terrible: employee has clearly never worked in a hotel, and are totally unprofessional from the restaurant to the housekeeping, making you crazzzy.... a dinner at the restaurant is a nightmare: bad food, bad service, and even if you will seat at the same table , you should eat each on your way as you will get your meal when your lover will get her dessert....
And last but not least, you should enjoy the noise of the work, as they built 3 blocks of 20 rooms each.... the beach is already crowded, and you have to wait a lot for your breakfast, i can imagine how it will be when this new building will be opened !

Room Tip: choose another hotel, here you will just waste your money
