I Really don't understand all the negative reviews. If you book a place on the beach in Koh Tao, and expect it to be quiet then you are stupid and in the wrong place. The problem is people expect so much for such a small amount of money. You are not in Europe. Have been coming to this resort for years and have always had an amazing time, always been greeted nicely by all staff including managers and manageresses and met some of the best friends of my life. Lots of princesses on trip advisor

Our first impression wasn't bad but then we realized that the first day the reception didn't inform us well. Apparently, there was a system for the make-up room for which you have to give the keys to the reception and they clean it between 2pm and 5pm if I remember correctly. The stairs were another thing, they were giant and it was very difficult to go up and down every time especially with the luggage. Going up those stairs it was like climbing pyramids. The first day there was an electricity cut and so the generator which was just in front of our room worked for hours and it was very noisy. TV, only 3 channels were working. Balcony door was not closing totally and mosquitos were getting in through the gap. And old sheets with holes. Nice parts; location was good, near the beach, great pool with a pool bar, it was nice to have beach towels and shower towels and free water brought during the make-up room each time.

Wind Beach has a great location close to many dive schools and restaurants. It is right on the beach and our room was fine. My compliments stop there. Wind Beach is a very loud place so bring some earplugs if you choose to stay there. The staff at the resort made us feel taken advantage of right from the start. Upon check in the staff members were very rude (apart from the gentleman who picked us up from the ferry). Throughout our stay the hotel staff seemed very unhappy to offer their help. I became very sick on Koh Tao and couldn't get out of bed. The concierge did not pick up the phone when my travel insurance called to ask about a doctor, and when we decided to check out a night early to take a night ferry (DON'T DO IT) they revoked the earlier offer for a free ride to Mae Head Pier. The ride arrived early and left before our previously scheduled pick up time, and the concierge insisted that we pay him double the price of the ride because we were late! It almost seemed like the taxi driver and the concierge had a business plan to get money out of people, and during the whole conversation I was lying on the ground and sick. Very disappointed in this place. The management should be careful who they hire.

I don't remember why we chose this hotel to stay in while in Koh Tao, but it was a bad experience. First of all, the hotel staff were incredibly rude. From the moment we checked in, to when we checked out and the lady told us we had to pay EXTRA to have a wet bathroom towel cleaned (obviously we said no way), they were very short with us.
At night we couldn't sleep because of the loud music from the club next store and right next to our hotel room door was a horrible stench because next to the hotel is a dirty, gross canal of some sort.
The wifi was really bad as well.
The one nice thing I can say about the hotel is the restaurant/bar that is right on the beach, but you don't need to stay in the hotel to eat there or enjoy the view, so I suggest staying somewhere else.

Stayed here based on having a try dive booked with Roctopus, will cover Roctopus in a separate review. The steps to our room at wind beach was very steep, that being said the room was spacious and had everything you need. Nothing bad to say on the room other than a powercut one morning which was promptly fixed. There was some quite unpleasant smells in the walkways but this seems to be an island problem, not just this hotel. The pool was poor, the beach was beautiful and the restaurant was lovely with some brilliant fire entertainers in the evenings.

Stayed for two nights in a twin room with air con and it was good value for money. Air con is actually very good as well. It's very basic but has everything you need for a short stay. Positives include the free pick-up from the pier which was hassle free, we hadn't arranged that at all! Also, great pool in which you can also sit in the pool at the bar! Great location on the beach also. Food is cheap and there's pretty much everything you need. Staff were helpful and seemed to know their stuff about the island.

Overall I would stay here again but would recommend for only a short stay if you are looking for something glam. Also recommend going to Freedom Beach and the trek to the view point there at sunset, it's beautiful!!
