“Would Stay Again ..”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2013

After a terrible one night stay at Coral Grand Resort, we stumbled upon this little gem while eating at Simple Life Restaurant. Room was really nice and clean, 2000THB a night including breakfast. Pool was clean and relaxing. Not to much sun exposure but Sairee Beach is a 5 minute walk across the street. Staff was friendly and helpful. Food at their restaurant was always really good! And well priced, we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner there the three nights we were in Koh Tao. The only downfall was that there was construction going on and was noisy at times. Thankfully our room was not close to the construction site, but still had to walk by to go the pool, etc. Nonetheless, we had a great stay.

We booked this hotel after travelling from bangkok to the islands. As we are on our honeymoon we opted for the deluxe room. The staff were pleasant and helpful, the room delightful and was decorated with flowers for our special occasion...HOWEVER.. there was a building site directly outside our room. Work began at 8.30am and consisted of jack hammers, power tools and firecrackers!!!! Not what you want on your honeymoon. When I complained that I should have been forewarned of this as I would not have booked this room, the thai manager offered me a late checkout and explained the building work had started 4 days prior. Not helpful. The manager Gary who was more than happy to take my £65 booking was conveniently away on business. We checked out feeling anything but relaxed. We were offered a free pizza ( an empty gesture) at the simple life bar. At the very least I would have expected a free massage on site to alleviate the tension. I'm still awaiting a response from the email I sent to the owner. Great potential, but be sure to check the work has finished before you stay unless your an early riser or aurally challenged.

After arriving in koh tao without any place to stay,we had a few places in mind.We caught the asia divers taxi from the pier think we might stay there and at least check it out,it looked alright, but the room we were showed seemed more like a dormitory and the pool was full of scuba tanks. So we thought we'd find better. We walked with our packs to find somewhere else and came across the Coral grand resort,it was getting late and we were getting tired, the room was 2000baht/night.It was very out dated and had ants on the bed(i will write a separate review for there). That night we walked back to town and ate at the (All you can eat) by Simple life as the food&service was great. After dinner we thought we would look at the Simple life hotel and were very impressed with the rooms and front desk staff so we prepaid there for the next night and liked it so much we stayed for 3 more nights. It was also 2000/baht a night which was fine cause the service, pool, staff, room and the included breakfast was great. We will defiantly stay here again and highly recommend it.We also ate dinner at the restaurant every night, the staff, food and specials are great.

We chose Simple Life as my boyfriend wanted to do his PADI advanced, but as I don't dive I wanted somewhere that wasn't going to be too dive-centric. As the dive centre is a few minutes away from the hotel it fitted the bill. The dive centre were outstanding, and seemed to have much smaller groups than many of the outfits which my boyfriend enjoyed.

Location was great - right in the centre of things, but it the rooms are set back so it was quiet enough to sleep. It's about 5 minutes walk to the beach and you can take a number of routes through different resorts and have a nosey while you're walking! It's very close to the Blue Wind resort which runs fantastic yoga classes. Loads of food choices, but Barracuda and Su Chili were our faves and Fizz was our go to spot for sunset cocktails on comfy beanbags.

We went with a superior room overlooking the pool based on previous reviews on trip advisor. The room itself was nice, very spacious and had all the amenities you could want apart from bed side tables! We were on the ground floor and it was lovely being opposite the pool as we could sit on our balcony in relative privacy and pop over for a dip to cool down.

We have just two negatives for this hotel, the first being that there was a staircase right next to our room, on the other side of the wall to our heads while in bed. We were woken by other guests pounding up them in the small hours, we thought someone was banging the door down! If you're a light sleeper, I would make sure to request you weren't in this room.

The other issue, and our main bugbear was the bathroom - although it looked great in a quirky way, and had a urinal (no toilet seat arguments here!) there really was an issue with the drains and sewage smells. It wasn't too bad if the windows were left open, but as we were on the ground floor, this obviously wasn't ideal! It was really quite rank coming back from a day on the beach to a hot stinky room! Koh Tao has a more general issue with sewage, the streets often smelt bad too, which is a small island quirk that you can overlook, but when you're paying a fair amount for a superior room, you expect them to have found a solution to this. Charcoal and air freshener just doesn't cut it I'm afraid! Had it not been for this I would have probably given 4 stars....

I can't say nothing wrong about this hotel. Nice room, spacious bathroom, breakfast was ok. Not far from the beach, in the centre of Sairee. The hotel is a little bit overpriced, but just like the most hotels at Ko Tao.

Normal hotel rooms. Clean, with air condition. The balcony are on the gate, so people always pass in front of you when chilling there. Nice little swimming pool. The beach is at 5-10 min from the hotel, and all facilities are not far away.

Nice clean rooms but stay was marred by building work, average hospitality and rude service, dreadful breakfast. The pool was o.k but nothing special. Would not recommend if you want a nice stay somewhere, I'd stay on the beach instead.
