“Service with Smile”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 December 2013

I booked a standard room online for two nights. When we arrived we found that we were upgraded to a large boutique room at no extra cost. We decided to stay an extra night and was able to keep our same room. I was traveling with my mom so this was a nice bonus. The room was large and came with both a shower towel and a pool towel. They also provided shampoo and body wash. However, when the used up all the soaps they never replaced them which was a bummer. They also provided two free waters a day in the fridge. The bed was large and comfortable and the noise level was to a minimum. It seems part of the hotel is newer and some areas are still under construction. I can see how this can be unappealing but in the end I am sure it will be nice. The pool area is small but again there is a short walk to the beach so really no need. The front desk staff spoke fluent english and were very helpful. They recommended places to go and also places to stay away from. There is a massage/beauty parlor on site and they suggested to not go there because the lady was not very good. I thought that was very honest of them and really appreciated the advice.
The hotel provides free taxi to and from the pier 2 times. I thought this was a great and very nice of them. Breakfast is an option depending on your booking. If you can choose to save some money and not have the breakfast I would recommend that. It is not very good and you can find better in just a short walk.

Room Tip: The boutique rooms are situated in the back away from the main room which are quieter.

We got this room included with the Simple Life Divig package. It is a basic room according to the hotel.

I would describe it as a disgusting room. The toilet leaks sewage when flushed, the toilet and room smells beyond belief of sewage from the bathroom. We killed 4 huge cockroaches. We complained about the sewage smelling bathroom, the staff rudely agreed to come and look they stopped the leak but the smell continued seemingly coming from the hole in the floor where the water from the shower goes.

The shower is icy cold and the noise from nearby is so loud it is literally pointless trying to sleep.

Horrible horrible experience. The toilet is likely to make someone poorly or worse if they are not careful.

Simple Life resort

We booked a superior room 8 months in advance and exchanged with Gary. We paid online through a link Gary gave us and everything was settled. Efficient and smooth transaction.

Note that transfers pier<->hotel are included with two departures a day at 8:45 and 1:45! We came through Lomprayah ferries. Just walk outside of the pier and there will be people wearing simple life tshirts. Go with them. They will check that you are in their list. Don't take a taxi, you'll pay 300Thb for a 5 min ride.

The hotel has a pool (small pool, as in most resorts here), wifi (which works well), breakfast is included in their restaurant (check our review for that). Staff is friendly and people at reception speaks good English. Ask them before renting or doing any activities. They'll provide you with average prices and tips. There's a laundry service with standard prices.

The room is clean and spacious. It is cleaned daily, towels are changed daily (even if we didn't ask them to - ie. we didn't let them on the floor), and the big bed was to our liking (hard). It was pretty quiet, even if you get some noises from people in the corridor, but nothing that kept us from sleeping well.
You are provided with towels for shower (no bath tub), as well as towels for pool/beach, shampoo, shower gel and a safe in the room.

We wouldn't mind coming back and we recommend the place.

We booked a Boutique room via Agoda which worked out cheaper than booking direct. We emailed a few days before arrival to try to change our booking as we had been ill and wanted an extra night on Koh Phangan. They refused which was understandable and they offered us late check out as compensation which we thought was good of them.

The resort is very centrally located in town and so is a short walk from various restaurants, bars and the beach. It's very much in town though so not as idyllic as it could be for a Thai Island. So average location really.

The rooms are clean and of a high standard. The pool is quite murky and isn't very pleasant to swim in. Half the resort looks like a building site so overall the resort is of an average standard.

While the rooms are nice the noise from rooms above and from staff and other guests walking by was quite bad. Every morning we were woken up by neighbors or staff. My girlfriend got quite a few suspicious bites one night, they looked very much like bed bug bites...

So we asked to move rooms which they allowed immediately and we chose a room on the top floor right at the end of the corridor. This room was much quieter and no more bites either!

We decided to go for a massage one day at the on site massage room. I just had a Thai massage and my girlfriend went for a manicure. I started my massage while we waited for someone to do the manicure. After 10 minutes someone else turned up who said they couldn't do the manicure so this was quite annoying. The massage was poor, probably a 2 out of 10...

The breakfast is partly a buffet with a freshly cooked plate of egg, stringy ham and passable bacon. After a couple of days the breakfast gets quite sickly. We found a cafe called "The Greasy Spoon" after a few days and found that paying the extra for something nice was well worth it. We also had a burger from the restaurant one night which was still partly frozen and tasted disgusting! So avoid the burgers. We didn't try them but the buffet pizzas are supposed to be good.

On check out we were told that we had to pay for late check out as we had arrived on time and so the offer of late check out was withdrawn.

Overall we left thinking we should have stayed outside of Sairee where we could have had much better accommodation for less money.

Room Tip: Boutique room top floor is quietest.

We arrived at Simple Life having escaped our originally booked accommodation. Personally I prefer something more Thai and less roadside motel but in fairness it does what it says on the tin: three star hotel with decent sized rooms, well priced and centrally located. Pool is fine, drinks are served all day, breakfast is not great but there are plenty cheap alternatives nearby. It is well run and friendly - overall not spectacular but very good value for the money.

Room Tip: Upper floors overlooking the pool.

On arrival we were upgraded for some reason from a standard double to standard boutique. Quick and easy check in from some very friendly staff. Room was very spacious, clean, and everything worked! The resort was in the middle of Sairee just opposite the beach so easy access to everything, 7eleven pretty much opposite the resort. They have a decent sized pool which is kept clean and tidy. Room cleaned daily (you didn't even have to be out early) with fresh towels, loo roll etc. WiFi good in the room. Staff were brilliant, happy, friendly and always willing to give advice/info. The only thing we disliked was the breakfast which was probably the worst we've had in Thailand. We extended our stay from two nights to five nights and they gave us a great rate to stay in the boutique (instead of originally booked double) and then further discounted us as we opted out of the breakfast. Would definitely stay again. It is expensive compared to other places but Koh Tao is expensive !
